Lunch is almost over, here is a WIP shot. Left 3DCoat Pass Right Substance Base texture. I'm working on contrast and edge details in 3DCoat right now before pushing on with edge highlights. I dont want to overpaint it too much though to avoid breaking the style of Wayfinder.

Update for the night on this Warcraft Sword project. Hand painting on the base texture I made in Substance Painter the other day now. Working in some base highlights, edging and other bits. Still very much a work in progress.

Small update to the Wayfinder shrine prop tonight. I took the base texture from Substance Painter into 3DCoat to layout some base lighting and some small colour variations. Next I will start some detailing and some other contrast work. Based on a concept by Philip Karlov.

Early stages of trees and some foliage inside Unreal Engine 5. I still dislike how UE5 handles foliage planes but hopefully this is a small issue (or I'm just not understanding it right). I have a lot of foliage left to make, enjoying it so far!

Some progress from today on this Warcraft sword concept piece. More painting inside 3DCoat. I've worked on the wood and metal more. I should finish the metal tomorrow then I can start extra details. Render inside Substance Painter combined with PBR maps.

Pushed the sculpt more in Zbrush, fixed some sizes on some bits. Broke up the silhouette some more and adjusted some of the straight edges to follow the art style a bit better than before. Most likely going to adjust it some more and adjust the cloth then move on to retopo :)

Starting to add the newer buildings in Unreal Engine 5. I still need to make a few variations then I can work on the windows, doors and such. Temple work can come later on as thats rather simple in terms of modeling/texturing. But the surrounding areas require a lot of work! :)

First trim test sculpted in Zbrush With this environment I want most of the chips to be very sharp with a tiny bit of smoothing to them - this follows on from the rocks I sculpted for it the other week :)

Still at that stage in Unreal Engine 5! Super basic and has a lot of temp assets/textures/place holder stuff. I still have a bucket load of stuff to make and I still need to vertex paint the buildings and other stuff. So here are the early texture stages. No where near done!

Hah! Old work from my time at Strawdog Studios in 2012. Game was never released as it was canned by the publisher. PS Vita game - very low poly. I only had access to 3Ds Max 7 with limited UV tools. FFD modifiers were used a lot on this project to help with limited UV options

There is a really handy option inside Photoshop that lets you preview/paint seamlessly around the canvas edges. Its called Pattern Preview and I use it a lot when hand painting textures. Can be found in the View drop down menu :). Hope this helps someone :)

These are my blockout assets for my Star Wars environment. Simple shapes with correct scales and - once I was happy with them I set their final pivot points. These pivots do not change now. Blocking out is different depending on project.

Final update of the day for the stylized Darksiders inspired Unreal Engine environment. Worked on the new roots, some moss shader work, started work on the statue head water bits and recoloured the grass a touch. Tomorrow I will work on the new pine trees!

Update on my Warcraft Legion axe fanart prop. Some painting on the metal done inside 3DCoat. Base material made in Substance Painter to help getting the foundations down. Next is to add some contrast to metal and then start the skull. Recorded a good chunk of this stage.

Not done with the Artstation challenge yet. I just played with the lighting tonight and stuck some music to it. Weekend soon, then I can start finishing up and polishing. Music will not be in the final submission as I didn't make it. This is just for me and you on twitter :).

Blockout is done for my next weapon model practise. Based on a World of Warcraft Legion Death Knight axe concept. Roughed out the shape in Blender. The centre piece will be built in Zbrush when I start sculpting. Zbrush sculpt starts tomorrow evening.

I've spend the afternoon working on and redoing this one. Liking the direction of this rock now. Getting back into rock sculpting after not sculpting in a while is interesting. More rocks soon.

Starting to work on the rock material shader in engine. Its a little broken right now but heading in the right direction. Needs work but progress is progress.

Working in some snow meshes inside Unreal Engine 5 and trying out some things with them. Also put in a few barrels and crates. Some progress for the night and from the weekend. Excited to work on it some more soon.

I mentioned yesterday that I wanted to do a hand painted prop so I went ahead this morning and blocked in a sword from a concept for WoW Warlords of Draenor Going to prep it for sculpting next as I love using a bake as a base to paint on.
