Geeking out! I’m coaching an AMAZING teacher who planned to take 150 essays home to grade over spring break. Instead, we designed station rotation (minus teacher-led station) & she is conducing side-by-side grading in class. She’ll have most done before she leaves on break🎉
The sooner schools decide on a plan for reopening in fall, the sooner teachers can begin to reimagine their curriculum. The “not knowing” is causing fear & anxiety.

I had a professor in college who always made me read a poem at least 3 times…one time to hear it, one time to pull it apart/analyze it & one time to put it back together. It always struck me how much more I “got” on the third read. I follow a similar approach.

Just because curriculum is written for a whole group, teacher-led model doesn’t mean that’s how teachers have to use it. Teachers are architects of learning experiences. They deserve the flexibility & freedom to make curriculum work for their students using a range of models.

I ❤️ this alternative to rows, Michelle! I know everyone has a unique space & furniture but the way we set up a classroom sends a clear message about the type of learning kids can expect. I appreciate that even w/need to create distance you’re still keeping the focus on students!
Desks separated in rows were not working.
I wanted the kids to be safe in their own space in the classroom but I needed them to to still be able to connect with their peers. I couldn’t easily make my way around the room with bags & desks everywhere.
Came up with this.
