Since ESPN’s ‘Requiem for the Big East’ first aired in March 2014, the Big East has 4 National Championships. No other Conference has more than 3 (ACC).

Not the outcome anyone wanted but nothing will take away what this team, these Big East Tournament Champion Georgetown Hoyas, accomplished this season.
If the goal of the Georgetown men’s basketball program is to bring shame and embarrassment to its alumni and fanbase, this season has been a smashing success.
It's no secret that I'm a Pitino guy but this is undoubtedly an excellent hire for Georgetown. Cooley is armed with everything he needs in order to bring the Georgetown brand back to where it should be. Now, let's see him do it. Hoya Saxa.
Patrick Ewing with his 1st win over a ranked opponent as head coach of the Hoyas. This is Georgetown's 6th BIG EAST win of the season, the Hoyas had 5 BIG EAST wins last season.
Legendary Georgetown Hoyas Coach John Thompson, Jr. Has Passed Away at the Age of 78, per

Big John was fearless, larger than life, and his impact on college basketball stretched far beyond the hilltop.
The world is watching and we are the show. Want this so badly, for everyone involved with this team. For everyone involved with this fanbase. Let's go get it.
If you like sports. If you like freedom. If you like America. Stand up. Even if you don't like sports or freedom or America. Stand up. Stand up and cheer for the Georgetown Hoyas. Georgetown is back and we are fighting for everything you believe in. We are Georgetown.
So Dan Hurley leaves the court telling a fan he’s going to “knock them out.” Let’s see what kind of media attention this gets…what excuses will be made for him handling losing so gracefully? Or is it only Pitino who gets the negative press?
Qudus Wahab was a 3-star recruit and developed under Patrick Ewing to make the BIG EAST All Tournament Team and was a likely All-BIG EAST 1st Team selection next season. Ewing could not have done more for the kid in just two years. Next.
Ed Cooley conducted a Zoom with former players and managers this evening. Michael Graham, Chris Wright, DSR, Ashanti Cook, Reggie Williams, Jerome Williams, Rodney Pryor, Julian Vaughn, Patrick Ewing Jr, among others were on the call.
Patrick Ewing's 1st recruiting class (so far):
4-star PG James Akinjo (CA)
4-star F Josh LeBlanc (LA)
4-star F Grayson Carter (TX)
3-star G Mac McClung (VA)
While there are a number of fans celebrating today, please keep in mind that there are members of a coaching staff that don’t have the option of walking off into the sunset and now face a very uncertain future. We wish all of them the best moving forward.
If the goal of the Georgetown men’s basketball program is to bring shame and embarrassment to the current students and alumni of the University, then it is succeeding tremendously.
Would have liked to see Colorado advance to the Sweet Sixteen. Our thoughts are with the Buffaloes and the greater Boulder community tonight, for reasons bigger than hoops.
Georgetown announces the passing of Mary Fenlon, a seminal figure in the history of the school's Athletics Department. Fenlon was most known for her role as the men’s basketball academic coordinator and was the first hire made John Thompson Jr. when he took over the program. RIP.
Mac McClung was born to win the NBA Dunk Contest and I’m happy for him. It was fun to see all of the ‘Georgetown is back’ tweets that he brought out of everyone, a nice reminder that the brand is still strong. We will be back soon enough, the next hire is crucial. Hoya Saxa.
What you need to know:
1) Patrick Ewing will not be the head coach of Georgetown next season.
2) Ewing's buyout is not an issue for the school.
3) Whether he steps down mid-season is up to Ewing and Jack DiGioia.
4) Pressure on JDG from Board of Directors can expedite change.
If Georgetown President Jack DeGioia is standing in the way of Rick Pitino becoming the next head coach of the Hoyas, then the Board of Directors' next move is a simple one: remove Jack DeGioia.
Cooley: "I am excited for the opportunity to lead the men's basketball program at Georgetown University. President DeGioia and Athletics Director Lee Reed are united in a strong vision, including in their beliefs, for Georgetown’s program, its players and the team’s success."
