Today the Assembly passed the extension of Coronavirus legislation to allow deaths and stillbirths to be registered by phone and documents to be shared electronically until Sept to allow permanent legislation to be progressed - this will help limit the burden on grieving people.

I’ve been so moved by contact I’ve had on this important initiative to give those parents who wish formal recognition of the loss of a baby pre-24 weeks of pregnancy.

says she is committed to working together with the Health Minister to progress the introduction of baby loss certificates for parents who have lost a baby during pregnancy before 24 weeks.
We are pleased that MLA's in the Northern Ireland Assembly are discussing the introduction of a Baby Loss Certificate Scheme for losses prior to 24 weeks.
This will give bereaved parents the opportunity to have their loss formally recognised, if they wish to do so.
