Ok dino guys. Sure. Small semiarboreal lizards that sprint on water & swim to evade threats are The Best Soft Tissue Analogues for 8000kg fish-eating #dinosaurs ... but arent yall curious what would happen if we tested a #Spinosaurus model w/ known swimmy archosaur soft tissues?

Let's get the word out that the ancient shark this age data was collected from is in fact dead (& not the one pictured) cuz it was caught in a fishing net. It should serve as a sober reminder that sharks & other marine species are under ever increasing pressure from fishing 1/2

Hey paleontologists, credit paleoartists. Most artists work on a contract to contract basis. I hear scientists complain abt facing instability every 1-3 years in non tenured positions. Many artist contracts are only for 1-3 months & we have to set up the next jobs while working.

Sirenians and Dolphins have been evolving alongside each other for somewhere between 5 and 10 million years. So many games played in that time. The rarity of seeing these games is likely because both were once much more abundant, but our species has killed most of them.

More shoutouts to the squad that helped build the #AztecSandstone exhibit (now open @LVNHMuseum !) @Thuat_Squared putting some finishing touches on the #Dilophosaurus crest. Thuat painted a significant %of the side of the #sculpture he's standing on. #paleoart #paleoartprocess

I know i know it's disappointing for some ppl to learn, but not all #dinosaurs looked like badass coolguy #dragons . Many of them were/are derpy, & had snoods, wattles, funny hairdos and whatever tf this wonky floppy skin hat thing is (a real feature of #Edmontosaurus )

For anyone visiting the @WesternCenter , there are animals hidden in the mural that I don't think anyone has noticed yet: in addition to the obvious dinosaurs and turtles There is a small #mammal , an #enantiornithine bird, and a pair of #Azhdarchid #pterosaurs .

My perspective is that we should embrace the unknown & the creative possibilities that uncertainty opens up for us, & (correctly) view scientific #paleoart as a space to explore new hypotheses. Good paleoart is plausible fiction inspired by hard science; aka hard science fiction.

New blog post on the #paleontology & #biology that went into the #Ornatops #paleoart I made for @WesternCenter ... ...& why this differently colored version could be exactly the same animal as the official version. HRŌNK!👉 #paleoartprocess 🦆👹🦢

2021 was an weird, exhausting, sad, & intense year. But fortunately also productive. Here are some of the big projects finished in 2021. I owe a huge thanks to the friends who helped me complete #paleoart sculptures and #murals now on display at @LVNHMuseum & @WesternCenter .

Somehow, after nearly 2 years since we painted this mural @WesternCenter , nobody on the whole internet has commented on the fact these baby #hadrosaurs are hungrily approaching a pile of poop. #paleoart #palaeoart

Dear paleotwitter, just reciting facts &/or unsolicited correcting of randoms on the internet about specific niche knowledge does not make more people interested in paleontology, but it does make the online community of paleotweeps look like an writhing swarm of "um actuallys".

And also paleoartists: Help elevate each other's work, not nitpick & cast doubt on other artists' "accuracy" etc. We know yall just doin that cuz u think it makes u look smart, but it doesn't. It looks petty & shuts down plausible creativity (ultimately including your own).
