Meet Edmond Smith, the first African American male to graduate from the BSN program. Today, he’s a dedicated nurse practitioner serving his local community at WVU Medicine. Edmond credits his BSN degree for preparing him for real-world success. 💙🩺

DYK: The namesake of our library, William B. Robertson, was the first African American to serve as an aide to a VA governor. He later served in 5️⃣ presidential administrations. Before passing, he was also finishing his memoir “LIFTING EVERY VOICE”, which is now published. 💙📖👏
BSC will receive $300 thousand to train more healthcare workers. “The intent of the College, as an HBCU is to address minority health disparities in this region by providing free health care services to the community,”stated President Capehart.

After serving for many years as a member and chair of Bluefield State’s Board of Governors, Garry Moore and B-State are making history once again. He is now the first Chancellor in the 127-year history of the school. 💙

Juneteenth recognizes and honors the end of slavery in the U.S. and is considered the longest-running African American holiday. To commemorate this holiday, the City of Bluefield and the Juneteenth Commission of Mercer County will be sponsoring a celebration downtown Bluefield.
A True American Hero 🇺🇸 Ellis Ray Williams, Sr., was born in 1921. He graduated from Gary, WV, High School in 1940 and matriculated to Bluefield State. He completed two years before volunteering to serve in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Bluefield State College’s first career fair in over two years attracted over 85 employers and more than 100 BSC students and employees. 20 additional firms participated virtually in the event, during which students learned about internship and career opportunities.💙💛
