Dale Jr posted this on Instagram yesterday. He went through his grandparent’s attic and came across some old broken trophies of Ralph’s. Here are a few pics, check his story for the rest before they disappear.
22 yrs ago the course of NASCAR was changed by a seemingly harmless crash. The sport was immediately altered. Forever. NASCAR lost it’s star. Fans lost a hero. Others lost a friend. A team & company lost their leader, & most importantly a family lost a dad & husband. RIP Dale.
On This Date: April 20 in 1986 Dale Earnhardt won the First Union 400 at North Wilkesboro. Dale started P5 & led 195 of the 400 laps for the win! Ricky Rudd tried to give Dale a "little 'Dale Earnhardt' in the rear bumper" at the end but fell short. Probably a David Chabot photo.
True story.
The year is 1999, you work at DEI and you are offered these two
@Dalejr
MC bodies after they put the new 2000 MC bodies on the chassises. What would you do with them?
I’ll tell you what happened to them later in the comments.
Remembering Dale Earnhardt today.
2/18/2001 - Such a sad, sad day in NASCAR history.
Rest in sweet peace

Just got this Dale Earnhardt T-shirt circa 1977.
It is new in the bag! 😳
I want to frame & display the shirt but to do that I’d have to open the bag! 😬 I don’t know if I should do that because it’s been in that bag for 45 yrs!
So do I or don’t I take it out of the bag?
Today we celebrate legendary RCR crewman and museum curator Danny ‘Chocolate’ Myers ringing the bell as he finally completes chemotherapy protocol for a rare form of lymphoma!
Congratulations Danny! We are happy for you & Caron & the rest of the Myers family & extended family.
You've all seen the picture of Dale riding a bike backwards while sitting on the handlebars at a 1992 tire test at
@IMS
, well here is video of it from rTV6 abc via Michael R Hartz.
Today’s

is a new one that I found last night. I mean what else would I be doing with this Covid stuff? This pic was taken at Metrolina Speedway sometime around 1974 by Stephen Baker who was just a kid who asked Dale if he could take his picture, so Dale said yes.
You pull into your local dealership to get your car serviced and see these two working in the shop, would you trust them to work on your car? 😂😉

Dale Earnhardt talks about how proud he is of Dale Jr. at the 1998 Busch Grand National Series banquet, where Dale Jr. was honored as the Series champion.
19 years ago today "we lost Dale Earnhardt" on the last lap of the Daytona 500. 19 years. Wow. All pictures are from that race. Do not know who took these photos.
21 years ago, racing for me changed. Contrary to popular belief NASCAR didn’t die, but it did change, and we’re still feeling the effects of Dale’s passing.
In Dale’s honor let’s celebrate racing, and each other, today and remember the racer he was & what he meant to the sport.
In 1998 Dale Earnhardt was part of a multi car wreck at Talladega. He suffered 2nd degree burns to his face & neck. For a few races after he wore a nomex head/face covering to protect his burns. Does anyone have a pic of him wearing that? I thought I had one but I can’t find it.
Like father, like son.
Two Hall of Famers, both deserving in their own way!!
Dale Earnhardt Class of 2010 & Dale Earnhardt Jr. Class of 2021.

paint scheme and you could put any driver in the car for that one race who would it be, and why? And you can't pick Dale Jr.
I do not know created this rendering.
Picture this: Dale Earnhardt walks up on you & puts his arm around you saying, “How’s it going,” & squeezing your shoulder with his vice-like grip to the point of tears, while wearing the biggest grin on his face.
If Dale did that to you, you were lucky, it meant he liked you.
Don’t believe everything you see on FB. The Days of Thunder barn has not collapsed. It is still standing. This pic is from this morning. I can’t believe the amount of BS that people believe - oh, it’s on the Internet so it must be true!!
As you've most likely heard, Martha Earnhardt, matriarch of the Earnhardt clan, died yesterday. She was 91 yrs old.
Here is one of my more favorite pictures of her, with her son Dale and his children, (L-R) Kerry, Kelley, Taylor, and Dale Jr.
(July 15, 1930 - December 25, 2021)
That time when your boss takes over a shop that Dale Earnhardt once worked out of and you find an unopened package from 40-45 yrs ago addressed to the man himself while cleaning up the back store room 😳
One of my favorite Ken Squier moments. Dale Earnhardt has just died in a last lap crash in the 2001 Daytona 500 and Squier gives a great eulogy to maybe the greatest there ever was. He put it quite perfectly: “Whatever stock car racing is, Dale Earnhardt was.”
Shared with me on Instagram from Andrew Rubino: “Feb. 1998, a few days before he won the 500. My grandparents took me to the Charthouse in Daytona to look at the driver’s yachts. Behind me he comes walking as my picture is being taken & says, ‘Nice jacket buddy,” as he passes.”
Another great shot of Dale from the 2001 Daytona 500 that was probably taken by the same guy who took the pic of Dale with Schrader byt the looks of it. This pic is also a pretty sad one to look at too. Awesome pic of father and son!
Dale Earnhardt waving to the crowd on the parade lap of the IROC race at Talladega on May 1st, 1993, exactly one month to the day Alan Kulwicki died. Dale was asked to drive for Alan, a request he took seriously.

22 yrs ago today Dale Earnhardt ‘saw the air’ and made his way from 17th to first in the last 5 laps of the Winston 500 at ‘Dega earning him his 76th win … and a cool million dollars for the No Bull bonus for winning the race.
Just before the 1998 Daytona 500 Jeff Gordon saw Earnhardt and asked him, "Are you going to win your first Daytona 500 today?"
Dale didn’t answer. He tilted his sunglasses down and stared at him instead.
Gordon got the answer to his question 200 laps later.

So this is interesting. Found in a barn in NC a few yrs ago. Don’t know it is still there. The guy was there to buy some Coke machines, saw this in the rafters & took a pic. This looks like it is the car he wrecked in Busch GN practice from 1989. Track photo by Mike J Chakon Jr.
About every 6 months this picture comes up on social media & people freak out: “the car is sitting there rotting”; “
@DaleJr
should buy it”; etc.
Rest easy folks, it is an old picture! Dale’s 1980 Busch Clash winner is fully restored & in the Memory Lame Museum in Mooresville.
October 5th, 2000. Dale Jr beside his Dad in the Winston 500.
This would end up being Dale Sr.’s last win.

than that!! I believe this photo is by Mike Walker.
So, what do you think about the DE Archives getting 10,000 followers by the end of the year? Do you think it’s possible? That’s a little less than 300 new followers per month for the rest of the year! I dunno! 🤷🏼♂️
According to the story I read this Intimidator slot machine was from the NASCAR Cafe that was in the Sahara Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Race fan Michael O'Brien ended up with the slot machine and apparently gave it to Dale Earnhardt Jr. sometime in late 2017.
Very cool.
So I'm pretty certain these two pics were taken at almost the exact same moment during the 2001 Daytona 500 driver intros. You can see the photographer of the second pic over Dale's right shoulder in the first pic.

Photographer Lee R Johnson uncovered some forgotten negatives of Dale from his famous (infamous?) 1997 Daytona 500 roll over.
Pretty sure that’s Dale’s brother, Danny Earnhardt helping to remove that front bumper in the one pic.
Some great pics here!

Dale Earnhardt chillin’ in the back of the GM Goodwrench hauler in 1988 with wife Teresa in the background and what looks like maybe one of his sisters in the lounge chair.

Fan car spotted this week. I’m intrigued with the side exhaust. I wonder if it is functional or for show. Didn’t see it until after I looked at the picture.

Today we are celebrating Dale Earnhardt's 25th Anniversary of winning the 1998 Daytona 500.
Dale taking the checkered flag in The Great American Race. Finally.
