professional runner, feminist, and college coach aspiring to be a catalyst for change and equal rights. she/her
BAA/Adidas runner and Wellesley College coach
My alma mater seems to have forgotten me already 🥺 and seeing everyone else get their d3 college shoutouts is awesome, so I’ll announce it myself.
I’ll be running the steeplechase in the Olympic Trials on Sunday (prelims). Watch on NBC sports at approx 6:25pm!!!!!!!!
Okay, I’m bringing my battle to Twitter. 😂
I’ve applied for Strava pro status for the past year and they won’t give it to me. I’ve ran in the US Champs, I AM a professional runner, and all of my teammates have it.
I ran 15:35 5k last night, am I worthy yet
@Strava
? Pls?
I’m the new recruiting coordinator at my professional/elite team. If you are American and can run any of these times and you want travel funding/gear/coaching/housing/access to trainers reach out to me!!
Too many people in this sport go unsponsored. I can help you change that.
I think I’ve come to accept the fact that I will never be the person that people expect to win a race, make a team, run a time, etc. That’s alright though, I like being an underdog.
Anyway, big races coming up on Friday and Sunday for me at US Champs! Tune in
I won the 3k at BU and my athlete placed 2nd at the 5k running a stellar 16:36 (one second slower than my college PR and a d3 leading time🤩) so I’d say BU and I have a good thing going
Instead of preparing for my own race in the morning, I spent all of last night reading half of
@des_linden
book and then spent my race warm up telling my teammates about it. I guess channeling my inner Des-wins-Boston-Marathon really helped Annie-wins-Boston-10k-for-women happen
If anyone knows of any woman who can run faster than ~10:05 steeple, 16:20 5k, 4:25 1500 etc. who also wants free running gear, no rent in a nice house, travel expenses paid for, free coaching pls let me know.
I’m in the market for a training partner. I promise I’m fun!
Since my freshmen year of college, I have ran 18 5k’s on the track—and I’ve PR’ed in 11. That’s a PR rate of 61%. That includes conference races where I did 5 events and national championships.
Bet on me. (Did I mention my freshmen PR was 18:40 and now it’s 15:35?)
Rough day for me, was hoping for a14:xx because I know that’s the kinda shape I’m in but a week of sickness and a tight achilles halfway thru the race foiled my plan. Happy to have helped Parker smash the NCAA record tho! She ran fearless even without an official pacer 👊🏽
Some tiktoker commented on my video saying no wonder I ran a 15:49–I look like a “boy”.
I think I’m supposed to be offended by this, but mostly I just think it’s really funny becuz tbh I don’t know any guys who could run that fast and still look this good 😎
Update! Thank you to everyone who helped me! I didn’t really expect people to like, actually see it and help, but I appreciate it!
Find me on Strava as a pro, I guess 😂😂
@Annie_Rodenfels
Hi Annie! We're really sorry but it looks like your application got missed. (Cue, the eye rolls. 🙄 But seriously, this actually happened!) We’d be more than happy to upgrade you to pro status. We’ll email you to get it sorted. Congrats on the huge 5K PR! 🔥
Would like to follow up by saying I am broke and on my parents insurance. With the Olympic trials coming up, it would be nice of a shoe company to give me a contract, I’d really appreciate it. I promise I’ll run faster, really.
Together, we can make me less broke.
Today I found out that my girls hs XC team is ranked 8th in the state (in our division). Last year we only had two athletes. This year, 4/6 are new runners and 3/6 are freshmen.
I’m really really proud of how hard they’ve worked so far this season to be here. ☺️☺️
@JamesHar16
@Strava
Ultimately nothing, although I’m looking to be contracted with a brand hopefully within the next year and every type of exposure helps 🤷🏽♀️
Send podcast recommendations, please. I love running podcasts, true crime, feminist and gender podcasts, but am pretty open to almost anything as long as it’s
#quality
If you could do anything for the rest of your life, what would you do?
I’ll start.
I’d be a contracted professional runner and pay my way through grad school to getting a Ph.D in women’s psychology so I could study women in sports. And make the Olympics, of course 💁🏽♀️.
Moving to Boston as soon as possible with my partner and let me tell you, looking for a place to live in Boston for two people, a cat and a dog all while in South Carolina is nearly impossible 🥴
This is only my second year coaching high school XC/TF but today one of my athletes asked me to write a letter of recommendation for her college applications.
I almost cried, I was so honored. ☺️
The video in question, in which I feel like from every video, picture, etc of me I look the least like a man...? What male runner has this good of moves AND hip flexibility?
Moral of the story: women can look like women (or really look like ANYTHING) and be fast(er than men).
My hs girls team made it to state!! In a year where it’s even more difficult to qualify (they took less teams due to covid) we managed to not only put together a scoring squad, but qualify! For our tiny charter high school, that’s quite the accomplishment. I’m a happy coach.
I don’t care what anyone says about the qualifications to be a professional runner...
I receive $20 in the mail from my Grandma every single time I race so, yeah, you could say I’m sponsored.

Overheard my two brand-new-to-running freshmen sprinters talking today about how by the time they were seniors they wanted to get all the school records. 🥰
We also talked today about what times make it to state.
We love ourselves some ambitious female athletes out here!!!
Had the chance to speak with Lindsey Hein this summer right after US Champs! It was super fun talking about my exciting season and all my plans for the future! Give it a listen when you get a chance!
To answer my own poll, I’m a professional runner and I did not know what it was until yesterday. Admittedly however, I’m also not good enough to be drug tested and have only been on the brink of the elite side of the sport for maybe 3 years, if we are being generous.
If you are someone who identifies as a Christian and you are planning to vote for Trump in November because you think he’s the right choice/Christian candidate/upholds Christian beliefs/policies whatever, please, friend, I’m going to need you to go re-read the Bible. 🥴🥴
Weirdly enough, coaching HS sprinters has made me a better runner. Being out of my comfort zone has forced me to dig deep into theories of training and sprinting form. Despite being a distance runner, it’s forced awareness of my own form, approach to training and attitude.
Hey fellow white people,
Black people aren’t oppressing themselves. They aren’t the problem, they’ve never been the problem. White people have been upholding systems, laws, and racist ideals (both knowingly and subconsciously) that have led us to this place.
Fix it.
Here’s my resume as a training partner.
Pros:
-has ran at US Champs
-has a d3 record in steeple
-rarely is injured do v consistent
-works really hard I promise
-still has much to improve
Cons:
-sometimes pushes the pace
-talks a lot
-still has much to improve (?)
I have four sprinters (four!!) on my high school track team this year. I’m learning how to train them and what to do, but this isn’t exactly my realm of track expertise.
Pls send any advice, resources, or help my way!! I want my girls to be 🔥speedy🔥
As always, my HS girls continue to impress me! This weekend, I had two break 22 for the first time (21:52), a third run her best time of the year, the fourth (a freshmen!!) run a 23:38 (previous PR from the week before of 26:20) and the 5th and 6th run 26 lows for a min PR 🙀🥰💃🏽
Is it anemia? Is it from running 75 miles a week? Is it poor quality of sleep? Is it a nutritional or other vitamin deficiency?
A little game I like to play when I start getting tired and falling asleep at 6pm.
Good for all of y’all runners out there who make fancy healthy breakfasts post run becuz I have all day to do so and I can barely bring myself to make toast most days 😮💨😅
She’s not only *just* a sophomore, but she’s also only been running now for 2 years!! 🙀
World class high school javelin thrower turned impressively fast distance runner. Don’t sleep on her!
Conservative Christians be like “Shakira and JLo are degrading all women by pole dancing and wearing those outfits”
But they also be like “how dare u accuse the PrEsIdEnT of tHe United States of misogyny and rape, he is a *christian*”

The Olympics were supposed to start on July 24th, 2020 which was my 24th birthday during the year of the rat which was the year i was born!!!
Now, they start July 23rd, 2021 which is a day before my 25th—not quite as special :(
However. I will allow it.
You will never race anyone tougher than Ari Marks because they simply do not exist. 10k and 5k National Champion in three days. Finished with a 5k PB.
All I’m saying is I wouldn’t want to be on the starting line with her.
@erinstrout
Lisa Owens at Centre College (ky) also biased but she coached me from a 22:00 cross 5k to a 16:30 track 5k and I think that speaks for itself!
I made a tiktok because one of the parts of being a pro runner is having a brand and I’m not very good at that so I thought this might help.
I’ve gone very mildly viral on a video about running d3 so yeah, you could call me a 💫star 💫 now
Currently quarantining alone in the upstairs of my house due to a possible COVID scare (woke up with a sore throat) until my tests results come back which is lonely and sucks BUT I am using my time to make sure I am registered to vote by mail for Ohio!
You should vote too.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure the new Centre President is well qualified and very cool, but I can’t help but feel disappointed that there still isn’t diversity in the President’s office. No women? No person of color? No woman of color? 😢
New Year’s Resolutions:
1. Olympic Trials
2. Be kinder
3. Read 50 books (😅)
4. Educate myself on a social justice issue that I’m currently not very educated on
5. Race internationally
6. Be a catalyst for change
7. Do 10 pull-ups
8. Eat 100 clementines in January (srsly)
These seem relevant. To those who have raised their voice, to those who have said enough is enough, to those who have stood up to oppression: we are behind you and we will continue to be behind you. Not just tonight, not just tomorrow, but from now on.
#ItsTime
😅 I ran these 5 events at 3/4 track conferences in college. Luckily for me, I was also supposed to do the 400H at this meet, but we opted not to do it!
Building character...?
Today would have been Day 1 for a lot of Conference meets. Which reminds us of
@Annie_Rodenfels
(Episode 2) crazy senior year meet. Wins 800/1500/5k/Steeple and is on the 4x4.
What are some other crazy conference performances? Let us know!
Hahahahaha bet the people with minimalist lifestyles or tiny houses aren’t happy with their choice now, huh ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
day 16
Pro tip: when you leave to travel for a race, always clean your house/room before you leave. Then, regardless of outcome you come home to a clean abode. 👍🏽👏🏽🏃🏻♀️
It makes me sad when I see the coaches of the other high school women’s teams we race against and they are all men head coaches with female assistants. In order to have more women coaches in college/pro, we have to build from the ground-up.
Hire women to coach women’s teams.
I have fallen for every single April fools joke today and I low key got laid off today so yeah YOU COULD SAY ITS BEEN A ROUGH DAY.
I don’t like it here anymore. 😅
(also I think I made my zucchini bread wrong 😭)
