As of 11:05 a.m. ET, due to the 4.8 earthquake in New Jersey, Amtrak has initiated its track inspection protocol. Speed restrictions have been implemented throughout the Northeast until all inspections are completed.

Train 649 is stopped to rescue passengers off of a commuter train that is reported without heat and interior power. We're estimating a 30 minute delay due to this, and apologize for the inconvenience while we help a train in need.

We are understandably receiving many eager questions. We want to provide solid answers, but unfortunately some information isn't available yet. Our entire Northeast Corridor will remain impacted as we work to restore service after major impacts from severe weather conditions.
