Debt free ✅ Earlier on this week, I finished paying off the last of my gambling debts! I don’t think it’s something I can be proud to admit at the age of 23, however, it’s a huge relief and after what has been a long 18 months, I can finally start rebuilding my finances 🙌🏻

It was around this time back in March where I was really struggling. Unpaid debts, sleepless nights, stealing and lying to get money only to then gamble it away.. Yesterday evening, I’m happy to say that I celebrated 6 months without a bet! Here’s to another 6 months 🙌🏻

When my gambling got really bad, I’d try so hard to stop on my own. I’d usually do ok for a couple of weeks but boredom would eventually get the better of me and my bank statement would soon look like this. Today, I was bored so I ran a half marathon. How times have changed 🤣🙌🏻

When my gambling turned compulsive, I would no longer treat myself. Not because I didn’t want to but because I never had any money and even when I did, I gambled it all away. Over a year into my recovery, I bought myself a new Xbox last week with my OWN money. Life is good 🙌🏻

When I was gambling compulsively, I would get paid on the 28th and within hours, the lot would be gone (£1400). I kept this up for over 2 years but fast forward 10 months, I last got paid on the 18th Dec yet I’ve hardly touched that money. A quick reminder on how far I’ve come👏🏻

8 days on from posting this, I’m already in a better place mentally and whilst it’s still the early stages, I’m feeling much more optimistic going forward. Repayment plans have been set up to clear my debts by June at the latest, and the money I have leftover goes into savings👏🏻

I woke up not feeling too great about life this morning, so I decided instead of being trapped indoors, I’d head out for a run for the first time in a couple of weeks 🏃🏼‍♂️ It’s completely normal to have off days, but it’s how you deal with them off days that truly matters 🙌🏻

I don’t think I’ll ever get bored at just how good it feels to wake up on the morning of payday to transfer my monthly wage to my savings instead of chucking it all on a blackjack hand like I used to.. A lot of money wasted but it’s all in the past now. We keep moving forward 💪🏻

Comfortably one of my best weeks since I started posting my selections earlier this year! Had a NAP every day this week apart from Thursday and managed to get 4 winners on the board at prices of 4/1, 3/1, 11/4 and 5/2 🐎 Thanks as always for the continued support!

That’s now my fourth Cheltenham festival since I stopped gambling. Despite it still feeling strange and sometimes almost wrong watching without a bet, it means so much to me knowing I can not only watch but also still really enjoy it! Couldn’t be happier at the minute 🙂

Found myself some new running shoes the other day but they were priced at £200🥺 Despite saving up for months, I couldn’t bring myself to spend that. But in the past, I’d lump a 4 figure sum on a horse without hesitation.. A prime example of how addiction f*cks with your mind.

I’m used to turning up here with a wallet full of cash ready to stake stupid amounts of money on each race, money which was usually borrowed. This evening, no money in the wallet and the aim is to simply enjoy the racing like I know I can without gambling being involved 💪🏻

Just got off the phone with an incredible couple named Jo & Peter Holloway. Jo & Peter tragically lost their son Daniel to suicide after losing his fight with a gambling addiction. The work they are doing now to raise awareness and help other families is absolutely incredible 🙌🏻

7 months without a bet! 29 days on from this post, I’m still trying to maintain this positive mindset💪🏻 I even bought a new iPhone 8 today😁 I’ve never been able to treat myself as whenever I had money in the past, gambling unfortunately came first.. Them days are long gone now!

It was around this time back in March where I was really struggling. Unpaid debts, sleepless nights, stealing and lying to get money only to then gamble it away.. Yesterday evening, I’m happy to say that I celebrated 6 months without a bet! Here’s to another 6 months 🙌🏻

2/3 this week as today’s NAP Evening Attire wins at Leicester! After several consistent efforts in better races than this one, the drop to class 6 company gets him back in the winners enclosure for the first time since 2016. Tipped at 5/2, SP was 11/8 🐎

Despite still looking very green and getting shuffled back early on in the race, Motawaj stormed through under David Egan to land the 3 timer for the NAP’s! He’s probably not beat much but was still very impressive. Tipped at 11/4 last night, 2/1 SP 🐎 Hope some of you were on!

A difficult day for me yesterday. It was obviously my first Boxing Day without gambling and I foolishly didn’t really prepare myself. I made it through which is the main thing but it was a gentle reminder that I have to keep my guard up at all times. One day at a time 🙌🏻
