DPD is asking for help in locating a missing 11 year old. William Pointer Jr. was last seen on April 24, 2024 at approximately 8:35pm in the 3600 block of Cornell Drive.
William left his home on foot. There is nothing to indicate foul play. DPD is working to locate him.
The Mosaic Institute and The Seed of Life are creating the Oregon District Memorial, a public art memorial to remember the nine victims, first responders, families, and all those affected by the violence of the August 4, 2019.

Last night there was a joint auto theft suppression operation including multiple surrounding jurisdictions. Today Lt. Randy Beane spoke to the media regarding this operation. 4 vehicles fled from police, 3 were stolen. In total there were 8 apprehensions.
Tuesday Dayton Mayor Jeffrey Mims Jr., Police Chief Kamran Afzal, Assistant Chief Eric Henderson among other local leaders were in Columbus to offer their support of House Bill 56. Mayor Mims and Chief Afzal spoke to the Senate Judiciary Committee on the House Bill.
In honor of National Volunteer Week DPD held its Volunteer Appreciation Dinner at the F.O.P. Hall to recognize our amazing Neighborhood Assistance Officers (NAO). This year NAO Russ Stipek and NAO Carlos Pereira Duque received Lifetime Achievement Awards.
DPD's Traffic Services Unit is investigating a fatal crash from today. After 11am officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of Germantown Pike on a crash. A vehicle was traveling west on Germantown from lost control, went left of center, and collided with a semi truck.
Needmore Road is closed between Hollywood Boulevard and Webster Street due to a traffic crash. Needmore will be shut down for several hours, please use an alternate route such as Wagner Ford Road to avoid the crash.
Congratulations to Nathan Via on his retirement. Detective Via's career spanned across four different decades with countless memories in his nearly 30 years of service to the community. Many good memories shared during his retirement ceremony, including his musical career too.
