Babar Azam's crime is not the WC, it's that he nearly managed to unionize his players for a fair share of revenue and other player rights in a country like Pakistan. He failed but he did set a precedent and that will count when in the future another brave captain arrives.

for a country with a bulging youth population, it is staggering how little of the mainstream pop culture (films, shows, music etc.) ever speaks to the life and struggles of a young person. there are not a lot of stories about young people figuring things out (other than shaadi).

Things that I'll always find fascinating in family gatherings: My uncles & aunts talking to each other in Punjabi but switching to Urdu when speaking to my generation and then switching again to Punjabi when they go back to their discussions. All of this happens very naturally.

To an outsider, Karachi doesn't seem like it is one city. It's a tenuously held chain of many poorly developed towns (and the occasionally developed spaces for the elites). The weak urban infrastructure can barely hold all this together.
