I'm alive !!! Operation was bit dramatic with me being woken up in the middle (bit of a shock). Blood pressure was low so kept me in Recovery Ward all night but all good now and I feel OK. Operation seems to have gone well. :-)
Some very Good News - I'm feeling much better (almost 'normal' but I never feel perfect), and looks like I might dodge a need to go to Stoke Mandeville for now. Thanks for all the kind messages etc and I hugely appreciate your concerns. Cheers Pete :-)
STEVE HOLDSWORTH
It saddens me hugely to confirm that Steve passed away a few days ago. I received a DM from his brother on Tuesday asking me to let people on Twitter know. I was waiting for a response from him but events have moved on.
You may have spotted I won the Mello Award for 'Most influential Twitter account' (AKA the bloke who tweets a ridiculous amount) - Massive THANK YOU MUCHLY to all of your Support and most importantly your Votes !!! It's really inspiring to be recognised and I appreciate it. WD
My Mum finally passed away - I'm OK with it as was well signposted & she wasn't going to improve from the Stroke. It was very peaceful & takes a lot of pressure off my Brother which is good. I'm now officially parentless so will be packing my bags & trudging off to the Orphanage
On a very serious note - if anyone out there is stressed and worried and feel like it's all going wrong and they are not in control etc then email me or whatever and I'm happy to help. I often chat with people who need reassurance and feel free to shout.
Woke up about an hour ago and feeling pretty good. Not certain the pain has been removed yet but hard to sense due to the tough time my 'nether regions' have been through. Signs are promising and looks like I should be able to go home later this afternoon. Fingers crossed tight !
Well, a surprise turn of events and the operation is 'done' already and I feel really good. Unfortunately they won't let me home tonight but the good bit is they've put me in the private bit. Lots of yummy food !! :-)
Spoke to my Specialist Nurse today and we have a way forward that should make me feel better. I'm still not right but pleased we have a direction to getting things sorted. :-)
Just had a huge surprise. Knock at door and 2 ladies to give me the C19
#AZN
Needle. Really didn't expect them to come to me. Raised it with GP yesterday that I thought I should have it as a priority. :-)
In less positive news I've been having lot of grief from those ongoing health problems and it's getting to the stage where I need it sorted. Spoke to Hospital today but with weekend nothing can happen and got to speak to Consultant in Monday. I'm hoping a full scan can be done.
'THANK YOU' to all you NEW Followers and EXISTING Followers for sticking with me.
I've got really difficult health problems at the moment and I am doing what I can but my social media output is much curtailed, WD :-)
I just ran the numbers on my Income Portfolio:
Money put in £38 670.
Total Value 31st Dec 2022 £71,237
Profit £32,567
Total Dividends £19,558
Been running 9 years but full initial investment probably year 2.
Dividends are 60% of the Profit.
Profit is 84% gain on capital.
SATURDAY 10AM thinking of Steve at this legendary hour.
I'm such a lightweight that's it's a half pint glass and I really can't drink this early !!
#PintOfHope
I need to clear something up.
NOBODY tells me what I can and cannot say on the Tweets. Anyone trying to do so will be mercilessly blocked and there is no appeals process.
I'm not here to provide a 'safe space' for weak-minded millenials.
My health is utter shi*e at the moment so I am only able to respond to Notifications sporadically. If you need to contact me, my DMs are set to Open and I'll respond when I can.
I won't be around to look at News tomorrow morning. Off to Stoke Mandeville hospital to see if the Spinal Injury guys can find a way to fix me now the problem has been identified.
I furkin' hope so !!!!
I've been feeling a bit rough last couple of days (I don't think it's that !!) and I'm pretty sure it's related to some discussions I've been having with a Nurse about how I manage being paraplegic. Clearly it isn't working !! I'll respond to messages etc when I can, Pete
Hugely significant day for my health. Just home from Sainsburys and drove Cupra (don't think I can cope with getting in/out MX5 yet !!). Still painful but definitely getting better. :-)
Just found out my operation should be next Thursday afternoon as hoped. Got to go in Tuesday for a pre-op assessment. Fingers crossed it all goes to schedule and I get these blessed stones expelled !! :-)
It's really hit me how well my Long Stock Portfolios have done this year with me doing barely any trades. It totally challenges the idea that active trading helps. I suspect for most people the regular trades hurt overall. Buy well and hold quality seems very effective & 'easy'.
Heard several stories yesterday of people turning £10k into £100k and then watching it fall right back even to Zero. I can't say this enough - DON'T BE GREEDY. These are abnormal returns and you got lucky. Be humble, realise your good fortune and at least bank quarter or half.
Got some bad news for ya.....looks like I might survive a while longer.... Doctor been round (bizarrely in a big grey van) and done loads of checks and nothing much wrong. Thinks I have another Bladder Infection and given me some serious Antibiotics. The things stink of chemicals
I've been at A&E much of the day. Doctors still not certain what is wrong but main suspect is Acid Reflux burning my Stomach Wall. I have a Prescription for some Drugs but needless to say I can't eat a piece of paper !! Hopefully I'll collect Drugs tomorrow.
It was my Mum's funeral today and thankfully it all went well. I'm in a foul mood now though because my stupid TV has stopped working. .....arghhhhh !!
Wow, just had a 'Private Number' fone call and of course thought it might be "Hello, I'm from Russia, do you want cryptoshite?", but it was Stoke Mandeville Hospital and I've got conversation with Specialist at 8.30am Wednesday morning. Result !!! ;-))))
I can't say for definite, but I probably won't be up to doing a Weekend Blog. I felt better yesterday and thought drug was working, but today I'm not great. Anyway, if I can't do the Blog, I will tweet out what I'm seeing in the Index Charts. :-) ps don't forget the new Podcast
I regularly speak/email/DM with Newbies who are in a terrible state because they have lost huge sums from being ripped off by the AIM Junk Scamsters. I know people who have destroyed Marriages and lost House etc. Don't do it. Avoid the crud.
Welsh government locking down Pembrokeshire where you chance of finding someone who has C19 is less than 0.03%....... It would be hysterical if people weren't seeing their businesses destroyed for this utter madness.
Been a change in the plan and Consultant wants an antibiotic drip in me before the operation. So I'll be in and out of hospital every day this week. Just assume I won't be tweeting but I'll update after the operation. :-)
I won't be tweeting tonight. I'm a lot better than yesterday but still a huge amount of pain. It seems to be another flare-up of the ongoing oesophagus problem but perhaps A&E visits will spur some action. I hope to be around tomorrow am.
I am so ashamed and angry to be part of a so called 'Democratic' world, that has so called 'Leaders' who are too cowardly to step in to help Heroic people who are being murdered by a psychotic Bully...
One no brainer is that Nurses etc should be allowed to park for free with no registration bs in hospital car parks. A disgrace they have to pay just to go to work.
I lost the plot and bought one of them Air Fryer jobbies from Asda for £28. Gotta say I'm mega impressed: it cooks faster and you don't need to heat up massive oven for a small amount of food. It uses barely any power. Mine's very small but for just me it's ideal. :-)
So in a nutshell, a small group of Liars selected from a much larger group of Liars, found a Liar guilty of lying to the full group of Liars. So the Liar is no longer able to be in the group of Liars.
Something like that.
Been in A&E all night - just got home. Absolutely nothing to worry about (thank goodness) but I'm exhausted and off to bed and will appear later. .... p
SOLD about 1/3 of the
#WATR
position I have at 1147p. I've still got about 4% of Portfolio in it but had stunning run and I'm uncomfortable with so much. Bought at 130p probably 3 years ago and banks a 780% Return. That's unleveraged and I didn't do a Spreadbet.
Big easy Money is not made by constantly chopping in and out. The Money is made by holding Quality in Major Uptrends and being patient. Ignore the Noise that distracts you from this focus.
Here is the new 'Project' I've been working on with
@conkers3
...It's planned to turn into fairly regular Podcasts on Investing Topics we fancy talking about and very much an informal discussion which fingers crossed should be well worth a listen. wd
Just closed the numbers on my Income Portfolio. I'm blown away by this: it is up 16.7% this year. On Podcast TPI 65 I said 12% or something so recent Xmas rally has added a lot. Last year it was down about 5% so this year has caught that up and got Portfolio back on track. :-)
Average Consultant salary after latest pay rise is around £133k plus 20% pension contribution.
While these geedy militants strike, people like myself are literally having a day to day struggle to stay alive.
Shameful.
Oh I heard some excellent surprise news. On the recent Podcast I mentioned my Cleaner's friend was expected to not make it with C19 and miraculously she has pulled through. Still extremely weak and gonna be a long road but such good news. My Cleaner really happy. :-)))
When the Recovery comes it is likely to be a rare opportunity to make Big Money quickly. The essence will be to protect Capital on the way down and then to Buy Big when we start the Recovery. Plan ahead and think Strategically.
Been at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. Turns out I've got a Bladder Stone. This is bad/good news. Bad because it's gotta be fixed (hopefully nothing too dramatic) but good in that it MIGHT be the source of my pain but it is definitely why I'm getting infections and catheter blockages
Here's a picture of Steve from WheelieBash 2018 I think. If you go to the link below there are several pics of him although as the 'Official Photographer' he was a genius at avoiding the pics himself !!
Just got back from Hospital MRI Scan - all went OK although the place was soulless and grim with all the C19 hassles. I couldn't wait to get out which is bit sad because it used to be a 'Home from Home' after spending many months there. :-(
The incompetence of this Government is truly staggering. They can't even arrange a National Press Conference and actually start it on time.......amateurs
It's really sad what's happened to Gary Lineker. He used to be a hero in England but he's widely detested now. Needs to stop acting against the interests of decent working class people.
I must say many of the discussions we have on Twitter are utterly superb and such a great way to think about things and learn techniques etc. Will be so nice when all the Political nonsense is out of the way and we can chat about Stocks etc again !!!
An excellent day at The WheelieBash and great fun to catch up with old mates and to meet lots of new people from all over the world !!! Thank you so much to everybody for coming along and making it such a quality event - it's the outstanding human beings that make it so good, p
I finally drove the MX5 !! Apart from getting stuck in first Gear for a mile it was really fun. Seems super quick steering like MX5 MK1 I had and really revvy despite being Auto box. Brakes are great and I can actually get out of it dead easy. Well pleased :-)
"HELLO" !!! TO ALL NEW FOLLOWERS and "Alright you lot" to existing long suffering Followers. You might have noticed I'm not too well at moment but if you need to contact me then my DMs are open. You can email also. Cheers WD :-)
I've had a really tough few weeks with Portfolio dipping negative for 2018 and it just goes to show that when you hold Quality Stocks you must stay calm and ride out the Storm and let your Stocks do the hard work. Panicking is worst thing you can do.
Oh wow,
#DVO
Takeover at 316.1p in cssh; up 60% now. I thought it was undervalued but that's a lovely black Friday surprise !! And holders pick up the Divvy as well. Sweet :-))))
Ran the numbers on my Living Expenses. Spent a tad under £17,000 in 2021 (I always expect around £18,000 but C19 definitely reduced my spend). Of that Rent was £6,560. I run 2 cars but never drive them and I don't drink much despite my reputation ;-))))
The Paramedic has been and I'm probably not going to pop my clogs tonight. He offered to take me to A&E but we both agreed it would be a waste of time. Had a useful discussion about what organs are where and hopefully such a call out will show on my 'record' & wake some people up
It may surprise people, but incredibly, people went shopping in the 70s; they went to pubs; they went on holiday; they drove cars; yeah, I know, incredible isn't it? Yes, we need to be careful but all this Doom & Gloom is way overblown. Calm down everyone !!! :-)
I'm not convinced raising the Pension Lifetime Allowance would get 50 to 64 year olds "back to work". So you'd work more years and get more funds, but you'd have less time to live anyway. Doesn't seem a huge incentive to go back to an ageist, woke, working environment.
Back in 2008/9 there would have been a lot of people saying "time to buy now" had Twitter been a 'thing' after just a week of falls. The Markets then fell another 50% or so. It's not really a good idea. Wait for a clear Bottom buy on the way back up. Avoid Falling Knives.
This madness at Dover just proves how Politicians couldn't give a monkeys about how people are impacted. Terrible mess and so many Drivers suffering unnecessarily. We are ruled by tosspots.
I wanted Boris as PM because I voted Brexit and that should be implemented. Sadly he has turned out to be utterly useless and I think a Chicken Drumstick would be a far better Leader.
SOLD about a third of my Water Intelligence

holding at 360p. Had amazing run and I think there should be more in time but lowering Risk on what is still a small business and banking Profit. Still got about 2% of Portfolio in them. Lovely 177% gain. :-)
The bounce back on my Portfolio in recent days has certainly been a reminder of how you mustn't panic when holding decent Stocks that you are happy to hold Long Term. They go up and down and you gotta be patient and let them do their thing.
Had a really crappy day with my health, but pleased with myself because I'm not letting it beat me and I just recorded 4 new TikTok videos. I'll keep the drip, drip, drip of releases coming. :-)
OK so
#Sainsburys
are the latest Supermarket on my Blacklist with
#ASDA
who are also useless. It is a farce that a paraplegic wheelchair user (who is a regular Customer of both !!) Is unable to even register for Click & Collect or Online Delivery. Not impressed.
People who were selling Shares in good Businesses during the depths of the recent Panic (particularly on 26th October) must be now feeling a bit silly. It's bonkers selling at such times - Selling should be done at the Top (ie plenty of chances early Summer etc) not the Bottom.
Well I actually got off the sofa today and drove the Z3 to
#HFD
- I'm sure it's been parked for 5 weeks at least. Hip much better but gonna be gentle on it for a few days but at least I can be up and about at last as long as I don't overdo it.
The worst thing you can do at moment is keep looking at Portfolio. All you do is feed worry and anxiety. Instead do something else and think about what Action (or Inaction) you are going to do next. Think long term and Strategic.
I've just realised I would never even dream of going to
#ITV
for news. ITN used to be as good as BBC but these days, GB News is the best, Sky for international and BBC just painful woke BS.
OK, time for me to throw a big stick of dynamite into the calm waters of Twitter.... Firstly, I will be very clear. IF PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO TAKE THE C19 VACCINE, THAT IS FINE BY ME. I hate the Authoritarian Police State the UK has become & I am a firm believer in Personal Freedom
*** BIG THANKS ***
to all new followers and ditto for followers who've had to suffer me for far too long :-)
I'm rather subdued these days due to the biggest medical mystery to baffle doctors in history, but at some point I'll be firing on all cylinders again :-)
Shame all this commentary about all the good things Prince Phil wasn't done while he was still alive. All I remember is constant criticism because he said something that upset the Woke Brigades....
Summing it all up I'm absolutely fine & a total fraud but at least the Doctors in A&E loved it because they rarely get Spinal Injury patients with such a high level (T3) - you could tell they were fascinated !! I'm still a bit 'out of sorts' but I'll try to look at market later
Markets like this stink but for me it's all about keeping calm and not doing anything rash/stupid because of boredom. Such silly trades just cost money and are often total duds which you regret later. Stick to the Strategy and do not let Market games affect your thought processes
If you think Dom Cummings' explanation was believable then you might be interested in an ISDX listed Crypto Miner operating in Siberia with Chinese Directors backed by a Bank in Sudan with some Somalian Shareholders. Let me know if you want it cheap ;-)
Without doubt, this is by far the most insanely Bubbly Market I have seen since 1999/2000. I can still find decent Value in selected small Stocks but too much stuff is bonkers and don't even start me on Crypto......
It does worry me that we all seem to be getting used to some crazy Valuations and are assuming this will continue forever. I used to think a Forward p/e of 22 was expensive but now that's probably 32 !! It could be an extremely dangerous complacency.....
