null & void - I am watching the Ford government carefully. This is another loss & mark against their government. Appealing not only waste our taxpayer dollar but also shows their clear attack against workers
Since Stephen was 3, apparently kids have missed 2246 DAYS of classes due to strike.
I call on Stephen Lecce to show the data on this latest claim. And please show data for CUPE as well
There is no room for this type of hyperbole
We are at the table ready to land a fair deal that invests more in lower income workers & keeps kids in class.
It's time for CUPE to take yes for an answer & cancel the strike.
These kids have endured enough of these strikes. 2,246 days out of class to be precise, since 1989.
PCs claiming they are helping women in trades.
Let’s be clear, we don’t need a hand up, we need you to take your foot off our necks.

Could we rein in the patriarchal narrative a tad Stephen & Doug.Your “disappointment” and “don’t force my hand” sounds like you’re disciplining a child. We are not in a subservient relationship with you.
Respect goes a long way in achieving solutions.Try showing some.
Hearing a lot of people call for unions to step up to fight Ford. People are missing the point. Unions are people. People power is what is needed. People need to be agitated, organized & ready to commit to action.
What are people ready to do? Leaders are everywhere

The contempt that
@fordnation

“Stay in you lane” “don’t force my hand” and there have been many others.
All I see is weakness Doug, from you.
"The Auditor General has to stay in her lane." Premier Ford on the "sting operation" the AG initiated at casinos to detect money laundering. (police weren't happy)

Good morning! Shout out to

who hit the picket lines early this morning after Metrolinx failed to come to the table w/ a deal that reflected what workers needed.
A great reminder that all labour has value,we shouldn’t need to withdraw it for the value to be seen!
The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, is trying to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64.
So the eight biggest unions across the country called a massive wave of strikes and protests today, with over 200 actions across the country.
Greenbelt is provincial jurisdiction says Ford. But look how quick he cries to the Fed on other provincial matters when he wants something.
Simply put, Ford doesn’t like to be held accountable.
Tell me again how the price of groceries is due to increase in workers wages, or the federal government or any other lame right wing theory.
The reason you are paying $6 for a cabbage is because of this man & others like him. The smirk is perfect.
When people say “it’s all about the kids, right?” My answer?
Yes, because kids need to see the caring adults in their lives fighting for them.
Yes, because kids are seeing what self advocacy, determination & collective power look like
It is all about kids & we won’t stop!
Tomorrow is the last day of Education week. So far we have seen

We need to talk about this & the impacts for all
The real sad state of the “Catch Up” plan is that while all the attention is on $200 or $250 per kid - the govt has made off with billions. We are literally fighting over crumbs while they eat the cake.
This is why we need to fight!

Interesting… bc tonight
@Sflecce
claimed that there were “1800 more new positions for CUPE” on 2 different news broadcasts.
So which is it?
We were told there was no new money for the services that students desperately need. So is that the truth? And if so why lie on tv?
We offered to protect the most generous sick leave, pension and health benefit plan in Canada.
CUPE declined it.
We offered to protect funds that have increased staffing levels across the province, funding 1800 education workers.
CUPE declined it.
Hi
@Sflecce
let me introduce myself and my 55000 friends. You have ignored us for so long choosing to target our teacher friends. Let me be clear, facts are not fear mongering, lies about enhanced measures don’t keep kids or workers safe. We want schools to be open BUT SAFE!
I also enjoy the “you knew what you were getting into before you took job”. Umm no. Been an EA for 20 yrs-my wage kept pace with inflation until 2012-since then govts have froze my wage, imposed contracts & consistently interfered with my rights. That wasn’t part of the deal b4
For the record:
🚩Textbooks don’t “teach” students
🚩Hospital beds don’t cure illness
🚩New school buildings don’t educate or ensure student success.
This government’s responsibility is to the people of Ontario. Payouts & pandering to their big business is not “getting it done”
Says a man who has been letting down families, kids, workers, people of Ontario for over 4 years.
How warped is the thought that removing someone’s rights is less offensive than one exercising the rights one has.
#FordsWarpedReality
#WeWillHoldTheLine
At a press conference, Premier Ford says the most heavy handed thing you can do is walk out on parents and kids. Saying that tactic is more heavy-handed than his use of the notwithstanding clause against CUPE education workers.
Does anyone feel like Ford’s reversal is akin to a shoplifter admitting to stealing stuff in 1 store when caught in hopes that security doesn’t look through their backpack?
Keep looking folks. We have only scratched the surface!

Why are education workers rights less important than the right of the people of Ontario or those living in Ottawa?
BTW how is that EA inquiry going Doug?

nails it all in this article with the exception of one piece. Education is not just teachers. It takes a team and money needs to be spent on education workers as well as teachers & smaller classes
My summary of todays announcement

This man is beyond out of touch. Are you aware of wait times to see mental health professionals? For children under 16? Or when they turn 17? I do.
And no curriculum in the flipping world is going to help kids who need to talk to caring adults & get help now!

This poll only states what we knew all along. The govt didn’t have public support to do this. They do not have the mandate to strip the rights.

This is really important folks. The key to education is meeting students’ individual needs. Removal of special classes as a result of insufficient funding will have a detrimental effect on all.
Inclusion without supports is abandoning students
Oh Stephen, here’s another piece of thoughtful advice.
Your party has been in office for 5 years, you have been min. of Ed for 4.5 years.
You are the status quo. You & the persistent underfunding & drive for privatization is not working
You, sir, are the problem.
Always a pleasure working with student trustees

From cell phones to vaping - we fully understand the status quo is not working.

So how many lies can one premier tell before the people just call his bluff and force him out?
If Ford’s lips are moving there is a decent chance he’s spinning a tale
Doug Ford said the Science Centre is in disrepair and nobody goes there, but reports show attendance is up and the provincial govt has frozen its operating grant for 10 years
What many forget, is that the students of the Harris era are the education workers of today. We know about “creating a crisis” & what the real intent is. We know the centring workers in the fight is key. We know working with families & communities is valuable. Shame Lecce doesn’t
It’s my understanding that tomorrow Lecce is doing a presser on back to school. No info has been provided to anyone.

Just a hint folks -
@ChandraPasma
is a stellar researcher - she comes to the table with fact not spin.
Lecce struggles with facts - it is clear
With Bill 98,
@Sflecce
pins the blame on school boards for outcomes caused by his underfunding. But some of Ontario's provincial schools, which his ministry is directly responsible for, can't even use parts of their own facilities because they are in urgent need of repair.
#onted
Let’s be clear - by punting the responsibility of ventilation & temperatures down to the school boards without adequate funding that is linked to inflation,
@Sflecce
has made it clear-he see education as the warehousing of students until they can contribute to the economy.

Education workers are parents too.
Surely you’ve grown out of the childish concept that we all live at school!

We are struggling to put food on the table & provide 4 our kids!
I recall receiving a phone call from EDU on a Sunday in August where they shared their “plan”.I asked for RATs at that time for all for additional level of protection-I was told science didn’t support it-apparently science is different in private schools🧵
There is no place in which this is acceptable. Swarming at a board meeting?!
