Sorry I am genuinely pissed about this. China supposedly can censor everything on the internet. Yet the disgusting video of the heinous shooting in Buffalo can still be seen on #wechat . Not sure how widespread it is but I saw it in my group

@vshih2 It helps underscore the domestic narrative that America is a violent and awful place… which is partly right. Still surprising they don’t acknowledge the harm from watching such content and remove it.

@vshih2 It is disgusting for sure, but I think we should be focusing anger to the actual problem of gun violence in the US. Cant be worried about what Tencent is doing if we keep letting this stuff happen at home

@vshih2 If it fits a wider narrative, and serves to distract, then no content is too offensive.

@vshih2 Why would they censor that? It gets attention and puts US in a bad light. They ought to be promoting it.

@vshih2 Yes, my Chinese husband always shows me very violent videos from the US that he finds on WeChat. He also refuses to live in the US, in part, because of videos and negative US news he sees every day on Chinese social media.

@vshih2 It is a feature, not a bug. One of the objectives of the propaganda apparatus is to promote this type of content, to make the us look bad

@vshih2 I'm genuinely pxxxed that a man in the US could get several guns, boast online about how he intended to kill people, then go out and do it while livestreaming I'm not pixxed that it's on Chinese social media If it happened in China, it would be all over US Mainstream media

@vshih2 Had a friend in China try to convince me the reason why @hellojixian 's videos were removed was because wechat's terms of service is against violence lol. Yeah, okay lolol.
