If I were still a teenager, the constant anti-Indian gibbering on this app would have sent me down a dark path. I send young Indians love. Emphasize your strengths, which is probably your intelligence, your sensitivity. If you focus, very few can compete with you
@khalihd71234805
You’re getting a highly skewed view from the app. In real life people have been (mostly) nice to me my whole life in America. Lot of the blame for this goes to what this app has become
@Abdulla11452773
Stupid. They literally say anything about India. It has problems, but most racist country in the world is ridiculous. Also, India and Pakistan are basically the same dude
@Savageryunlimi1
@khalihd71234805
Yeah, way less fun. Twitter used to be a much better place, for Indians and non-Indians too. Now way more racism, porn, trash-level media
@MKSchizo
No im here because my ancestors could build what yours couldn’t …. My grandpa was recruited during the Cold War to do aerospace research for the military and holds multiple US patents. It’s not a “piece of paper” stupid, it’s literally what governs the country you’re so proud of
@MKSchizo
I don’t own any gas stations but I have relatives who literally work in DC for the American government. I am in law school myself. Most of my relatives are doctors who treat Americans. I am American per the Constitution of this country
@RealCarlJhonson
Even the current right wing government in India is pro Palestine and they even sent millions of dollars of aid to Palestine. Stop getting your news from Twitter
@aishabbwahab
I see, take a picture when you meet with Hindus too. You keep retweeting what a historic bill it would be to pass so this gives the impression you are not neutral
I don’t really know what Indian people should do, maybe delete the app or something. All non-whites are used to subtle reminders that they are valued less, but this is dehumanization that is completely unsubtle, base-level, in-your-face. And who stood up for us? Almost no one
Some very histrionic responses to that tweet. Shows how base-level the animus towards Indians is. Anti-Indian sentiment deserves more general and academic attention. Uganda, South Africa, Burma, Malaysia, Korea, Germany, Kenya, Fiji, Maldives, etc …
@MrNarci
A yoga event is not an rss meeting, and it’s not “meetings” plural, and he’s not a “verified sanghi” based on attending an event 20 years ago … I think you’re determined to see things your way
@AADaddario
I think the light square on the right is really only necessary for proper chess notation and doesn’t matter if you’re just playing a casual game. Chess is fun though
@kushal_mehra
I don’t think so. Their skin color is already white and when people think of Ireland and Israel they think of “western” nations. India still evokes alien images, alien feelings
@grantwyeth
@rhoehan11
Khalistani movement fueled by old guard, cultural chauvinism, teaching people india and Hindu hate young. Look at canadian journalist terry milewski’s extensive research on this, since you’ll more quickly believe another white man
@arya_amsha
We do the same thing, our movies and music and clothing and language are copied from the west. They still have culture, they’re just dancing. Their “irreligiosity” ensures they stay liberal democracies
@MrNarci
That’s not solid enough to call him a sanghi… the even was for suryanamaskar, which is just yoga. Furthermore attending such an event in 2007 is way different than attending post 2014
@arya_amsha
Came from true, abject poverty too, never got credit he deserved as tiger was at his peak and for about a year Vijay was
#1
in the world. Vijay was never much liked in golf world, due to racism and kind of a serious personality
@tao_lin
I think white writers get the ability to just be human to a white audience. Once a character or author has an ethnic name, lots of readers want that to be dealt with first
People, at least on this app, have internalized the idea of Indians as risible and able to be pushed around. Power corrupts. Any attempts to “clap back” are just laughed at and mocked. It’s sad because we’re generally kind, good-humored, ethical, decent people
Pat Cummins donated money to India during COVID too. The Australians are interesting. For having the reputation as racists, they seem to be one of the few people who treat India with any degree of respect and quite a few of them seem to genuinely like the country
@JeanlucBB0
@DrewPavlou
You’re unhappy and maladjusted and feel the need to spread your misery onto others. If you had any peace in your life you wouldn’t go online acting like a loser.
@kushal_mehra
No, never, thank god. But completely possible that will happen one day. I don’t know how I’d react if asked to report my caste by some school or employer. For now though the discourse is very limited. I don’t think most Indian Americans are even aware of the recent Seattle law
@MrNarci
You said he attended “rss meetings” and is a “verified sanghi” because of this one article from 2007 saying he attended a yoga event organized by them.
@yadudewhatever
Except she is bullying in the guise of valid criticism. Just search “India” on her tweets and she often brings up “street shitting” and many other offensive things
@MazMHussain
@akshayalladi
Yes and when you bother to read it you’ll see that his big ambition is to be a “leading power” and there is no mention of the global domination you portray
Strength respects strength. The only solution is to amend those aspects of Indian society/behavior that are worthy of mockery. Or, simpler solution like most people including myself do, just ignore it and focus on yourself. Problem with this is it affects the way I view others
@SamKhan999
@aishabbwahab
Loooool. This guy is one of the most hate filled bigots on this site. This is like me retweeting the taliban on a bill about women’s issues
@Idontrumm
There are lots of people here who talk all day about injustice and racism and bigotry, never really saw anyone say anything. Where were the articles ? If it were other races, I think there would have been a reaction
Yes, I find this pretty interesting too. It’s really just a tweet saying “I love you Indian people, keep your head up 🤗💕” and two-thirds of the replies are a bunch of random racists going completely ballistic
@arya_amsha
@jagadaramsha
Opposite. Any time a white person earnestly takes an interest in Indian culture we go apeshit with joy. Vivek is more “American” than 99% of Americans, it is just his skin color
@TheIronicOnee
@AADaddario
Only for notation and so stuff like “queen goes on its own color” is applicable. If it’s set up with a dark color corner and the pieces are in the right place the game functions the exact same way
@c1nnamonbunny
I remember being tapped on the shoulder by a woman wearing full niqab while in airport terminal in Dubai. She said, “Paris?” I didn’t understand so she repeated the question and she started laughing. All I could see was her eyes smiling but it was strangely erotic
My dad is kayastha. He worked overnight shift at travel lodge for couple dollars an hour when he got here. My mom is Brahmin. She worked at McDonald’s and a mexican restaurant and delivered newspapers in the morning in Kansas.
Brown University has added a provision to its nondiscrimination policy that explicitly prohibits caste oppression, underscoring protections for the University community and calling attention to a subtle, often misunderstood form of structural inequality.
@MazMHussain
It’s not true. There’s a lot of hindutva people who are rational and intelligent. I think you are just a little arrogant in the way you talk about india so people get mad at you and then you get strange, like with your Amritpal article
@PratitiTiyas
Well, when “all” the south Asian Americans is two people, your caste theories sound a bit funny. He’s not “bad” on hindutva. Your initial question is full of loaded wrong assumptions. Ramaswamy and Nikki Haley have nothing to do with caste
@CheTak__
I haven’t read the book but I just am putting forth an idea based on growing and living in American society. He asserts expertise because he read books on American history
@Saiarav
@sushantsareen
One is that Hindus have very little political power. Two is that indians like to write lots of bad articles about india that get printed in the west, Pakistanis generally don’t
@kushal_mehra
I’m a second generation Indian American, I was born here. Caste is almost as alien to me as it is to them. I’d probably not even try to defend, just ask questions till they reveal they don’t know what they’re talking about
@Joe_Webster_CRR
@RachelRizzo
That has gained traction within the west too though. I think india just frankly does not see Russia-ukraine as a big deal, particularly after US abandonment of Afghanistan. There’s nothing unique about this war to people of the global south that separates it from many other wars
@DreamOfYouuuuu
Okay thank you, but please don’t tell me to “grow some balls.” The tweet is specifically for young Indians. In fact, like most people who replied, you have nothing to do with this tweet
@jerrdeen
@listengeet
Indian people don’t really say anything about black people. Most of the time it’s black people posting stupid stuff unprovoked, like this time
@VikAdiRathore7
Yeah not all. But I’ve noticed Steve Smith, Brett Lee, can’t name others off top my head, but they seem to have a genuine like for the country. Some others seem to just pretend for the IPL paycheck
