As promised here one of the complications I hate most - just happened, devastating - C5 syndrome after lami/fusion for cervical myelopathy. On POD2 pain R arm, then 0/5 deltoid, 1/5 biceps (in 20% c6 is also affected). One never knows what went wrong. No pull on arns. #suffering

A few Vertebral Hemangiomas may be aggressively growing, invading epidural space with neural compression. Their optimal Tx remains controversial. At #BCN we recommend #enbloc spondylectomy. In this L2 lesion a post/ant procedure has been performed. #bettercontrol #lessbleeding

Always touched by courage&trust of ped pts & parents when it comes to special surgery in sick kids #3SK . This 8y with symptomatic central cavmal (CTS 2mm away) woke up hemiplegic after complete removal, but improved to 4/5 over night. Experiences like this are super rewarding.

#Procrastination is a major enemy of good #leadership . Less&less are able to decide/execute. Waiting/hesitating in hope things will resolve&calm down will fail. A frequent argument: ‚things are too complex’ - very atypical behav for surgeons, even though biology is very complex.

Surgical Recanalization definitely has the potential for effectively salavaging EVT failures. HOWEVER, #Neurology and #Neuroradiology are completely blind on this eye! They either pretend not to have reca failures or don’t tolerate dropouts from the distal MCA reca studies. 🙄

Too busy to tweet this week, just now catching up! 3rd Annual Barrow LIVE Aneurysm Surgery Course went great: 11 aneurysms clipped, 2 AVMs resected, 1 DAVF occluded, 1 midbrain cavernoma removed. The course has doubled every year, with 70 participants from around the world.
