The Water Canon Tribute at CVG reserved for a select few. Marty got his tonight as the
@Reds
plane rolls into the gate one last time with Marty aboard. I never thought this day would really come.
Tonight is my last radio game of the season. Thanks to Yid and
@TommyThrall
for putting up with me this year. Thanks also to
@RedsCowboy
for giving up his seat for a few games. Go
@reds
.
For me, the best thing about
@Reds
@Dodgers
deal is proof that the
@Reds
front office is finally ready to churn the roster. It was getting quite boring.
So sad to lose Joe Morgan. A man of class, talent and humor. He had a true understanding of what it takes to be successful. I learned something from him every time I was lucky enough to sit and talk baseball with him. Thanks, Joe.
Todays
@Reds
game was 2::20 and almost every fan stayed. There is something important about being there for the end of a close game. Makes you feel strong.
@Reds
are strong. See ya tomorrow.
Dusty once told me that when he retired as
@Reds
manager, he would push for David Bell to be his successor. Kinda worked out that way, right? Congrats to the
@reds
and David Bell. Good things are going to happen. BTW, he knows the rules, too.
Jose Garcia,
@Reds
SS of the future? Well, he just did the improbable. He hit a long foul “home run” and then hit the next pitch for a “fair” home run. That hardly ever happens. This kid is something else.
What an inspiring night at GABP. fans woulda been going nuts with every Brewer-by-Bauer punch out. Dominance by
@BauerOutage
with
@Tucker_Barnhart
doing an awesome job, too.
What the
@Reds
are doing with their player development plan is fascinating and exciting. First year player camp, new fresh idea hires, commitment to the latest tech; a big leap that will pay off.
He later showed up in Plant City as a pitcher trying out for the Reds during an open tryout camp for 1995 replacement players. I was there and watched him warm up. He threw hard, like low 90's. He pointed to his arm and said "I'm the Dangler, and this arm saved me." Incredible!
Love it when a big league pitcher throws 2 pitches over the hitter's head to the screen, bounces a curve 3 feet in front of home plate, eventually works a full count, then bitches at the ump for calling BALL FOUR on a 100mph FB that barely touches the outside black at the knees.
This is my 28th year calling
@Reds
baseball. But tonight at 6:10 when Summer Camp gets underway I’ll be excited and nervous. Here’s the agenda: there is none, just baseball, stories, fun and oh, yes, maybe some rules, too.
Best tv crew in baseball is right here
@FOXSportsCincy
. Thanks to each one of you for going the extra mile to make our broadcasts network quality at regional level. We love the
@Reds
and Reds fans. It's been a crazy summer but we do what we love. Thanks to all of you.
My 30th Opening Day as a
@Reds
broadcaster and I’m watching the game as a fan here in Atlanta. We’ll have all the action for you tomorrow night when
@johnsadak
and the rest our our terrific
@BallySportsCIN
crew gets to work. Meanwhile, LETS GO REDS!
Hopefully, after
@MLBPA
and
@MLB
get the $ worked out, they move to enforce the BALK RULE. Want more action in the game? Stop pitchers from shaking, shimmying, tap foot’in, making it impossible for a runner to get a jump. Call the BALK, enforce the rule.
Jeez, dude. Do you bring a wet blanket to every picnic? How 'bout just enjoying a great start by Aquino. BTW at 27 PA - Aquino: .462 6 HR 1.192 SLG Davis: .231 0 HR .385 SLG
Anthony Desclafani has accomplished a rare feat. He has re-made his delivery, dramatically shortening up his arm action while pitching at the major league level. That is a tough thing to do.
@Reds
@FOXSportsCincy
Thanks to all who have reached out about the Ohio Sportscasting Award. A good tv broadcast requires a team effort and we have the best here in Cincy. Thanks to those special folks from truck to booth who are dedicated to producing the best show possible.
@BallySportsCIN
@Reds
I watched this
@Reds
@RaysBaseball
game ending balk. It appears that Wisler moved his glove to encourage the catcher to go through the signs again, but this movement also indicates the start of his motion to the stretch position. If he stops at that point, it is a balk. Game over
Working Reds Live Pre/Post Game has given me a chance to watch the games from the stands, interact with fans and appreciate the kindness of the ushers and security folks. GABP is a great place for families and baseball fans. C'mon down...
I like this team (
@Reds
). They care for each other, they’ve got spunk, and what they lack in experience/superstar talent they move forward with an attitude. Gonna be a fun year…
Marty calls as good a game as any announcer in baseball history. To say he does a disservice to
@Reds
fans is just plain wrong. Thom is an excellent announcer. Him quoting new analytic terms would not enhance the broadcast.
@Reds
are fun to watch; let’s just enjoy baseball.
@RedsAnalysis
@cgarber8
@thinkpitch
Thom and Marty are doing a disservice to Reds fans by not learning anything new about baseball. They still think the game should be played like it’s 1977 & there aren’t any new ways to understand how the game should be played or how to evaluate players.
Happy Birthday to my good friend and colleague,
@JimDayTV
. He is the best in the biz for what he does and
@Reds
fans are lucky to have him. He can also put a hurtin’ on petite veal chop. Love ya dude.
One of the best of his generation,
@BarryLarkin
, spending a lot of time with
@Reds
prospects Alfredo Rodriguez and Jose Garcia. Here, at about 7:30am, he is using martial arts to improve their playing foundation and balance. Can't get enough of this.
One of the coolest things the
@Reds
do is host Big League Weekend, Reds Futures HS Showcase at GABP. Tonight is Moeller vs Cov Cath. Big crown on hand, too.
#redscommunityfund
With all the advancement of big data and analytics in baseball, I’m continually stunned how ignorant most baseball people are of the rules. What’s the use of knowing spin rate, launch angle and FIP if you don’t know how to run to 1B?
Are you ready for some
@Reds
baseball. Coming at you at 6:00 pm on . Don’t make me do this alone! Join me to watch high level competition between world class athletes as the Summer series continues.
Don Gullett could say more in 10 words than most people could in 10 paragraphs. As a coach he helped so many pitchers rediscover themselves by keeping it simple. As a pitcher, Reds super scout Gene Bennett, described him as a pitcher who “could throw a ball through a car wash and…
RIP Don Gullett, 73. He posted 172 ERA+ as 19-yr-old
@reds
reliever in '70, then became a successful starter, helping Big Red Machine to WS titles in '75 & '76. Career: 109-50, 113 ERA+. More on his legacy in

The umpires got the interference call correct. This is a classic lane violation play. It is a judgement call and Sam Holbrook was spot on. Perhaps certain announcers should visit
@rulesacademy
I'm headed to the
@reds
game tonight in Goodyear and am pumped up to watch Hunter Greene toe the rubber. Our first TV game of the spring comes this Friday,
@Reds
vs
@Dbacks
. John Sadak and I will have the call as we work with the best behind the scenes crew in baseball.
@brennaman_marty
This is absolutely true. Thom is a great announcer and a good man all the way through. He’s worked worked like a dog to “pay his debt” for a forgivable mistake. Forgiveness is a branch of kindness. He deserves another chance.
We've got some late night
@Reds
baseball coming your way tonight
@BallySportsCIN
. Please join
@johnsadak
and me for game action right after Reds Live. It's the home opener for the
@Dbacks
and the
@Reds
are out to spoil the party. Reds Live 9:00pm...
TV and radio schedules seem to be complete. We welcome a new TV PxP man, John Sadak, and Reds' legend Barry Larkin onto our tv crew. I'll be working TV, radio, and pre and post game shows. I'm excited about what this season holds for Reds fans whether watching or listening.
Coolest thing happened to me today on my birthday. I got birthday wishes from The Hit King. His birthday, too. So I went out and shot his age. Needed a couple of three putts.
Cincinnati
@Reds
icon joe Nuxhall had a simple way of describing last night's WS game...he used this phrase a lot and you can't break it down any better than this...
Congrats to
@BauerOutage
for his Cy Young Award. He provided me some of the best Baseball Tech Talk episodes ever. I learned a lot from him and realize I’ve got a lot more to learn.
