We've launched a crowdfund as we need to ask for your help. We're committed to paying our staff in full for as long as possible but due to rent and this top up for staff it's costing us Β£25k a month to keep our doors shut. Any help would mean the world:
Massive news! We've been listed as an Asset of Community Value by Islington Council! Thank you so much to everyone who nominated us and supported the application! We're over the moon, it really makes us feel appreciated in what we've been doing for the last decade! <3
WOW THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! Β£61,627 raised from 2360 supporters!!!! We'll be contacting people about rewards next week and we'll do the raffle next week too. Absolutely unbelievable what people have done for us <3

An evening with a master singer/songwriter Kristin Hersh on 19th July as she makes an unexpected stop for an intimate performance featuring songs from her 30-year playbook including Throwing Muses and 50 Foot Wave as well as her unique solo work
We're joining forces with
@musicvenuetrust
and 30 underfunded grassroots music venues in critical danger across the UK to raise Β£1.73m to help us all survive to March 2021 so we can continue to support artists at the earliest stages of their careers!
TONIGHT, after 14 very long and arduous months, we will finally throw our doors open! We couldn't have do it without your support, the support of
@musicvenuetrust
and the dedication of our team. Tonight is for all of you, tonight we

Incredible response to the call to support music venues today. Gig goers and musicians from across the spectrum have really made it clear how much they value our most cherished and yet most endangered cultural spaces

Hey
@RishiSunak
you might want to actually do some research before plucking numbers from thin air, you're supposed to be a numbers man after all... Our rent is Β£140k PA. Pub Rents in 2021, a very brief overview:
We're asking the UK governement to
#LetTheMusicPlay
by providing a support package for the UK live industry in order to
#SaveOurVenues
. GMVs are the backbone of the UK music industry, employing tens of thousands people and generating billions for the UK economy!
We're getting involved in the
#nopubnorent
campaign. The live music and pub industries are desperately chasing rent breaks whilst we're shut and unable to trade. Without rent relief many spaces like ours may never reopen and millions of jobs will be lost! Pls RT!
@NoPubNoRent
Who fancies a trip to Wales next year?
@GreenManFest
have very kindly donated a pair of tickets to next year's rescheduled festival as a prize in our Crowdfunder raffle.
Big love to everyone at Green Man at this incredibly difficult time <3
Great to see BBC London leading with the news of the seven London venues still at critical risk this afternoon. We need all the support we can get so please share far and wide: Donate:

@FRANKTURNER
WHO DID A PHENOMENAL SOLID FOR US, RAISING NEARLY Β£12K WHICH WILL JUST ABOUT PAY OUR RENT FOR ANOTHER MONTH. HONESTLY YOUR SUPPORT MEANS EVERYTHING TO US. UNBELIEVABLE. THANK YOU SO MUCH <3
Hello everyone, we've been blown away by your support, it's been truly unbelievable. The kind words and generosity have brought us to tears. We've posted a full update here and reloaded some rewards: We can't begin to thank you enough.
8 new arenas being built in the UK... Who's graft are they being built on? The grassroots venues across the country who nurture all the talent this country creates. It's an ecosystem and the top tier needs to support its foundations

@TheCoopLive
@YTL_Arena
@DCMS
Absolutely massive news that
@musicvenuetrust
have managed to secure the purchase of their first venue,
@snugatherton
! Owning our own venues is the key to protecting the future of our own cultural spaces and this is the first big step forward towards that
#ownourvenues
We're now closed for our Christmas and want to say thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate Lexmas, came to a gig, clubnight or just popped in to see us for a pint since we reopened.
Wishing you a healthy & happy holiday period and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
SEVEN London venues at risk of closure... Spaces like
@WindmillBrixton
&
@WaitingRoomN16
make London what it is, the reason we struggle through rip off rents and jobs we don't like, they're the places where our culture is born... Let's not lose them
We've nearly hit Β£50k! Thank you to everyone who's donated their time, mone & goodwill! It HAS made a huge difference, whatever we make beyond this will be a big help in absorbing our Β£25k/month costs whilst closed! Still some more fun stuff in the line!
TWO sets of shows with Kristin Hersh today... the afternoon matinee starts from 2.30pm and the evening event starts from 730pm. Please ensure your ticket is for the the correct event.

The
@musicvenuetrust
have taken the cause to the commons and the entire game is about to change as we're finally starting to get the institutional recognition grassroots music venues deserve and, more importantly, need.
Last year, the UK lost 125 grassroots music venues across the country.

WOW! This is really overwhelming, we're INCREDIBLY moved by the kind words and level of generosity that everyone is showing. We're all lost for words. Thank you to everyone who has helped spread the word and donated! UNBELIEVABLE <3
People have been trying to stand up to PRS for years and it's cathartic to watch this PR disaster unfold over a greedy little ploy which no one was consulted about. Just look at their reviews
Even the chair of the PRS foundation charity is appalled!
Amazing to see
#saveourvenues
trending on twitter. Venues are where culture is created, identities are formed, friendships are made and where people fall in love. We're so proud to be a part of all of those things happening in places like ours up and down the country <3

This really isn't good enough from the UK government. An agreement needs to be made ASAP to be in place so touring can resume this year. Obscuring the truth and playing the blame game helps absolutely no one, least of all the UK government itself.
UK & EU both saying they wanted to allow musicians to tour freely post-Brexit but were rebuffed by the other side.
A blame game helps no one - there is political will on both sides to fix this, so they should get around the table and agree a solution now
Today might just be the best day in 14 months... We're reopening on 17th May and we're now taking bookings for the first two weeks! We can't wait to see you! More info/bookings here:
We spoke with the NME (along with some of the other critically at risk venues across the UK) about some of the challenges facing us over the coming months
