Fascinating how in Hindu families we're ok with using the labour of widowed women for the tedious work in every religious ceremony but can't have them around for the fun, 'honourable' parts. For that we need married women or couples, no matter how strained their marriages are.

One of my all-time favourite bits of trivia is that the deity Santoshi Maa (in whose name devotees observe a rather difficult fast every Friday) actually has no basis in scriptures whatsoever. It is this film that made the goddess popular among masses.

My favorite KK memory: An open mic on World Music Day. I walked up to the stage (trembling with my immense stage fright) and sang 'Kya Mujhe Pyaar Hai' as someone I admired watched from the audience. I don't know how I sang but the joy in his eyes made everything worth it.
Fav KK memory is from 2007 when I was trapped in coaching hellhole at Kota. Neither me nor my roomie had a music phone. Totally dependent on FM which had just arrived at Kota, our music needs were mostly fulfilled by a cassete player my roomie had. (1/n)

Someone decided to leave the country of their birth because they didn't feel safe anymore and our first reaction is to get aggressive, attack them personally and then wonder why they don't feel safe. What will it take for Hindus to shed their victim complex and introspect?
