Priyanka Chopra is the only Indian actor to have spoken in favour of the protesters in Iran, and she can do it because she’s not in India. Indian celebs are worried it’s islamophobic to speak against the ayatollahs. @AlinejadMasih

I’ve seen the footage from #Leicester where about 200 supporters of Hindutva took out a rally shouting Jai Shri Ram in a Muslim area. Let me just say to all my fellow Indians, Hindutva has deeply broken our country. Please do not export these divisions worldwide.

When I lived in India, I never did attend a garba because it was strictly by invitation and payment, and only for the Gujarati community. I never saw it as exclusion because garba is not my tradition. I'm not the organiser. What is this entitlement that you can attend everything?

Or? Or what are you going to do? You got someone who clearly has her own axe to grind. Which is ok as opinion. Not as reportage. She interviewed a man who supported AlQaeda attacks and called him a ‘community activist’.

The Bajajs were closely associated with the Congress party for over 100 years. They only spoke truth to power when the power was not the Congress party. I understand the nostalgia but it’s not even a good scooter.

I finally read what Kangana Ranaut said. She is not the first to say that Indian independence was incomplete and that the British left because it was no longer financially viable for them, post war. It’s not that shocking.

No one voted for AIIMS. The British Indian gov’s Bhore committee rec it. NZ and Holland paid for it after Amrit Kaur begged them; the same Brit govt set up the Sarkar committee which rec the IITs. The predecessor of ISRO was in TIFR (thanks to the Tatas and Bhabha).

A Hindu temple was attacked in Pakistan. Courts ordered the attackers to pay fines. Clerics have demanded that the Hindu community pay the fines on their behalf, and forced them to do so. This is what being zimmi looks like in an Islamic state.

Mulayam Singh Yadav as UP CM ordered firing on unarmed kar sevaks in 1990. We don’t even know how many died, but possibly thousands. It was barely reported in the media as the killings were ‘necessary to save secularism in India’. He justified it even recently. Never forget.

I have never seen a member of a film festival jury attack a film in the way The Kashmir Files was by Nadav Lapid. Some films at every film festival are complete duds, but even those are not criticised. They just don’t get awards. There’s a back story that we don’t know. 🤔
