There's a difference between a tax code that is targeted & fair vs. one that constantly tilts in favor of the wealthiest 5%. Don't be fooled by those who ignore facts & fairness as #coleg works to do what they can to limit the historic damage of these budget cuts. #copolitics

#coleg must examine the tax code and close old and new loopholes that overwhelmingly benefit the state's wealthiest business owners, while preserving justified economic relief for struggling small businesses that truly need it. By means testing tax giveaways, we can achieve that.

$15/hr is $31K/year in gross pay. If you think the minimum wage should be less than that you're either relying on underfunded public assistance programs in your economic model or just cool with huge swaths of Americans working in poverty. This debate needs a different frame.

Compounding this inequality: the wealthiest 5% of Coloradans will receive the vast majority of forthcoming TABOR rebates & the resulting fiscal cliff will increase costs in education, childcare and so much more so many rely on. #copolitics #coleg

If you follow Israeli politics, you’ll notice that with a few exceptions, most of the older top military veterans have become voices of peace and appropriate restraint. They’ve experienced the madness of war and now caution their successors to learn from their choices…

We cut taxes in 1999 & never recovered. Today, our teachers are the worst paid in the nation, our roads suck, & we have huge demographic & climate challenges ahead. The wealthy pay less than any of us. Props 116 & 117 make this all worse. Vote No. #copolitics #coleg

Denver voters are rejecting a Koch Brother ground invasion, voting no on 304, a sales tax cap that would have reversed a decade of progress on pre-school, scholarships, & mental health. Now, can we find less regressive ways to fund this stuff???

@jeffhunt You know, you can be a passionate liberal & find God. The two are not mutually exclusive. Liberalism is a construct in which two people can take different journeys to God, find different expressions of that God and live in the same society without burning each other at the stake.

Coloradans clearly want a tax code that sees the difference between the wealthy & those trying to make ends meet. But TABOR intentionally blinds us & lumps us all together. Guess who wins? Most likely, not you. If you want a change, this is the clause you're after. #copolitics

Looking at 20 years of Colorado’s funding, two things become very apparent: 1. Permanent tax cuts wreak permanent havoc. 2. A dumb tax code that ignores wealth takes a HUGE chunk of economic growth off the community table. Learn more at: #copolitics

We live in a time of massive income & wealth inequality. Today, a significant majority of households in Colorado make less than $100k. Not only should this give us all tremendous pause, it should most definitely inform how #coleg implements a 30-year old law.

If the Governor calls a special session, the result has to be a big cut + a cap - so this doesn’t happen again. If not, we’ll bring real property tax reform straight to voters next year. #copolitics #coleg

What a perfect example of how insane it is to work on fiscal issues in #copolitics . Research: Our public colleges are facing a dire funding crisis. Funding has gone down over the past 25 yrs. We lag way behind all the other states. Conservatives: we have a spending problem.

I will also say that when American Jewish leaders make support for Israel's policies a proxy for supporting Jews, we give politicians an easy, superficial out. They can use knee jerk support for Israel as a substitution for a fuller understanding of who we are & what we value.
