Good news! We conducted avalanche mitigation on Vail Pass at 8:30 and we're happy to report that the triggered slide did not reach the roadway. Now we're off to 10 mile canyon! Expect a closure between mile point 180 (East Vail) and mile point 201 (Frisco) starting at 11 a.m.

I-25 NB/SB: Safety closure between Exit 278 - CO 1 and the Wyoming Border. Highway is closed both directions between Wellington and the Wyoming border due to adverse conditions.

A purposely triggered snowslide on US550 Red Mt Pass brought down 6ft of snow, then cleared. It's critical to maintain safe highways for the traveling public and, very importantly, for freight vehicles that keep our communities supplied with goods during this pandemic.

Cutting off a snowplow is the equivalent of skiing in jeans. Don't be a #RoadJerry . Give snowplows plenty of space to work and NEVER pass a snowplow on the right. If you're behind a tandem plowing group, just be patient and enjoy the clear road.

UPDATE - 5:50 p.m. CO 91 will REMAIN CLOSED through the night. Natural avalanche on CO 91 was on Resolute Cliff, a path that has NEVER run before & is on the opposite side of the rd. We have not done mitigation on this path in the past.

Watch out for 🐷 on WB I-70 just a mile past Glenwood Springs. WB is closed in that area to load the pigs and clean up the crash. No ETA.

MOUNT EVANS UPDATE: Due to more significant snowfall in the last week, Mount Evans Highway remains closed. CDOT crews are continuing to work diligently with a goal to get the highway partially opened by the end of the week, which is weather permitting.

#SWCODOT US 550 RED MT PASS UPDATE: Red Mt will remain CLOSED until further notice. An unprecedented amount of snow has been triggered from several avalanche paths, including an extensive amount of debris, limbs and trees. Some slide areas are a 1/2 mile long, 10-30 ft. deep.

So...not good news to report...EB I-70 at Silverthorne is currently closed due to about 15 spun out vehicles at mile point 211 (six miles east of Silverthorne). Crews are out there doing there best to get the vehicles cleared but this is going to take a while.
