My granny worked as a typist to the German Ambassador to the Soviet Union, Graf von Schulenberg. He was executed in 1944 for plotting against Hitler. Half her family were wiped out. She saw what nationalism did and led to. So no, she wouldn’t want a f**ing cup of tea with him.

In 20 years’ time we’ll either be like: “Why did MPs and large parts of civic society suspend their critical faculties and put what was then the UK on a path to sad decline following a deeply flawed referendum?” Or “Do you remember that shitfest we managed to dodge?”

@JeremyVineOn5 Good grief, the sheer ignorance on display by Carole beggars belief. You leave a club, you lose its benefits. It’s that simple. The idea that any decision in the EU is driven by any regard for what Brits want or don’t want is complete self-obsessed nonsense.

Today marks an end. But also a beginning. The emperor is about to strut about the place completely naked. Ministers and tabloids will want to praise his tailors’ refinery. Make your resolution to be the kid who calls the whole charade out. Happy New Year! 🍾

Its *four* years on and it’s the same problem Johnson won’t admit. You cannot leave a club and demand the benefits of that club without following its rules. The remaining members of the club get to set the price. Each benefit lost takes UK further from what Vote Leave promised.

That was the most astonishing reading of the riot act I have ever heard. The PM must resign.

It needs saying again and again. Brits will be the only people in a major western European country unable to travel, live, work and retire freely in their own continent. UK kids will miss out on opportunities that their counterparts across Europe will take for granted. A tragedy.

After many years of campaigning, I am delighted the Immigration Bill which will end free movement on 31st December has today passed through Parliament. We are delivering on the will of the British people.

Very honoured to have been reselected and placed second on @LondonLabour list for the probable European Elections in May. We are a brilliant team. We will make the unashamed case for a greener, fairer and more equal Europe - with the Brits IN!

Brexiters suddenly declaring that Vote Leave criminality would not invalidate the result are trying to make electoral cheating the new normal. They didn’t cheat for the sake of it, they cheated to win. If integrity of electoral law is to mean anything this must mean an Inquiry.

The lack of discussion on the fact that every single one of the UK’s devolved assemblies (except London, which doesn’t get a vote on this and wld probably vote no) has voted to withhold consent to the Withdrawal Bill is yet another flashing warning light for the future of the UK.

There’s a very simple answer to this question: “No. There are no circumstances in which Britain would be better off outside the EU.”

"Do you honestly believe that Britain is better off outside of the EU?" That was the question Channel 4 News asked Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn six times.
