I’m so fed up. This reckless & dismissive behaviour of travelling for vacation and internationally (so far from politicians ON, AB & MB) reinforces negative stereotypes of politicians, and tars all with the same brush. It makes a mockery of health orders. Makes me angry.

Voting for this budget is a broken promise to Vancouver residents, renters, homeowners, families, young people & small businesses. Mayor & Council promised taxes would 5% max. Now majority have raised taxes whopping 25%+ in 4 years. Don’t know anyone whose income has gone up 25%.

The Mayor & majority Council’s decision not to fund police budget wasn’t due to Covid pressures. That’s spin. Mayor saw opp to chip away at police budget & took it. No other BC city did. And no, taxes don’t have to go up again because you’re not funding core responsibilities.

City has decided not to renew #Yaletown OPS lease. As I knew when this site was first proposed, it’s too small for the needs, and supports for management of neighbourhood impact were never in place. VCH responsible for identifying alternate site & deploying life saving services.

Fantastic news! Our beloved Kits Pool will open Sat, July 30th for summer fun. Following assessment, it’s been confirmed the structural integrity has not been compromised. Surface cracks need to be sealed, pool filled and water treated. But it’s coming back! #KitsPool 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️🏊☀️

We can't let Vancouver decay. Residents deserve to feel safe & have clean neighbourhoods. And impoverished deserve housing & more, coordinated mental health/addictions treatment. City needs to do our part for clean, safe streets now while we advocate voraciously for $ & services.

Tonight I asked Council to join me in calling on the province to explore an empty stores tax. Just like homes, commercial properties have skyrocketed in value, yet many are kept vacant. Not surprised the same folks opposed to the Empty Homes Tax opposed this as well. #vanpoli

This is deeply disturbing when someone is randomly stabbed while simply getting a coffee in the morning. Anyone who doesn’t find this troubling or dismisses this is equally concerning. We need to take public safety seriously. Residents need to feel safe to go about their lives.

No @CBCStephenQuinn I can’t defend 8.2% tax increase. City can deliver needed services like police, fire, clean streets without big hit. It will hit renters & homeowners. Landlords can’t increase rents more than 2% so won’t want to stay in rental bus or invest in buildings.

Increasing our tree canopy is important. Especially in urban heat spots and deficient areas in our city. Elevated tree planting targets would help mitigate expected canopy losses due to growth, as well as work to grow canopy from Vancouver’s current 23%.

I asked a speaker last week during budget discussions about City supporting DTES Market when it was reputed to constantly have stolen goods flowing through. Speaker said there was no proof-here it is. Stolen merch from local stores. City provides 300k annual funding to market.

Downtown Van is in a world of hurt. Tourists are gone, office occupancy is at 10-30%, pedestrian traffic is down, events and sports games cancelled & businesses closing. This move to offer free parking at Pacific Centre with spend at retailers is a fighting back, survival move.

This makes no sense. Staff are recommending @fountainheadVAN get two separate liquor licenses and run two separate businesses next door to each other. Rather than granting the@ one license to run expanded pub by a respected operator who’ve been a long-standing community fixture.
