I finally made a trip to Masai Mara, Kenya.
It was the most beautiful holiday ever. Completely different from anything I had ever done before.
Unlike traveling to developed countries, Masai Mara is a bit different/difficult.
Here is everything you need to know.
I was interviewing a GenZ intern today and he says he is looking for work life balance with not more than 5 hours of work.
Doesn't't like the MNC culture so wants to work at a start up.
Also, wants 40-50k stipend.
God bless the future of work.
Life update: I got married!
To my high school best friend.
It was an intimate wedding at a small heritage property in Goa, with our favourite people.
A mix of cultures & traditions.
I'm happy we could have a personalised ceremony true to our story.
Goa is so beautiful in the monsoons. I wish more people tried to explore this side of Goa.
The long drives, the water falls, the ponds, rainbows and how great the food tastes in this weather.
Here's the view from my cafe this morning.
Last week I was attending a wedding in Mumbai.
We checked into the hotel, and checked the venue. Maps showed 30 minutes. Pretty close, I said in my mind
The event was at 7:30 PM, so we decided to leave by 7 PM.
At 7 PM Google maps: Destination is 1 hour 30 mins away.
At that
I ordered sanitary pads from
@SwiggyInstamart
and found a bunch of chocolate cookies at the bottom of the bag.
Pretty thoughtful!
But not sure who did it, swiggy or the shopkeeper?
The middle class me still can't believe I stayed at the Giraffe Manor in Nairobi. Something I had dreamt of since I was 12!
Living amongst these giant beautiful creatures was surreal.
Getting a booking at the manor is really difficult.
Here's everything you need to know.
Until recently, I couldn't get through a single book. My attention span had reduced to a few minutes and I couldn't get myself to sit through even though I really wanted to.
Something
@naval
said changed my perspective and this year I've read about 12 books already.
Good bye note to
@CRED_club
Reasons:
1. Super cluttered: Over stimulation for simple tasks.
2. Worst way to pay utility bills - need multiple clicks to find basic info
3. Rewards & Cashback - negligible
Moving back to Paytm for Utility bills & Bank app for credit card bills
Goans take an extremely long lunch break (1PM-4PM) because it's impossible to think clearly after eating a Fish Thali for lunch.
Susegad = to live a wholesome life.
Life Update: I am starting a cafe!
I can't believe it's actually happening.
Teenage dreams do come true.
It's cosy cafe with great food in the heart of Goa.
Do visit if you are around!

In Goa, postmen usually know everyone in their assigned area pretty well.
Sometimes if it's a chill day they might even stop over for tea.
Love this about small towns.
"Read what you love until you love to read"
I used to read books that were recommended by others and not the ones I truly found interesting.
I changed that.
It started with my bf gifting me a
@blinkist
subscription, a summarised version of books.
I read 2 summaries every week
A trip to the Mara is 100% recommended. So close to the nature that you feel like an Alien.
That's everything I could think of rn. Happy to share contact details of our Guide.
Feel free to DM if you have questions.
Happy Traveling. 🧳 ✈️
Local Goan bakeries are pretty cool.
My favourite places for good Goan "Patis" (Paté or Puff Pastry)
1. Cafe Central
2. Geeta Bakery
3. Pastry Cottage
4. Perfect Bakery
5. RKM Bakery, (the sanna also damn good)
6. Babajis, Mapusa
7. Samrat, Porvorim
Happy Sunday
I used to believe that you are either born a reader or not. I was wrong.
Habits/hobbies are built over time.
With patience, without pressure and purely out of interest.
Happy Sunday!
It's my mother's birthday today so we decided to go for a staycation at a 5 star hotel.
Her reaction: "you could have bought me gold with all this money"
Everything starts and ends with gold, she won't even accept Bitcoin.
6. Cats
- We were lucky to spot a lion hunting an antelope
- We saw Cheetas & leapords
- They are majestic and so happy in the wild, it's a sin to keep them caged.
- I haven't visited a zoo since 2014 and that is not going to change.
Then for about 6 months, I read summaries. Every night before sleeping.
Eventually I picked up my first book. It took me a month to finish it. (Sapiens)
I ordered my second book, it took me 1 week to finish (Almanac of Naval Ravikant)
And it began.
@adadithya
@inFeedo
1.Upfront salary - salary paid at the start of every month
2.Advance salary option- up to 5 months
3.4 Day work week option, 2 months in a year (experiment)
4. Work from anywhere
5.100% therapy cover for team+1
6.Personal development credits
7.Access to
@WeWork
across 🇮🇳
7. The Bonus
- The beautiful skies
- Picnics in the open (super risky)
- Masai Village and the people - they even prayed for me to have atleast 9 children. Lol
4. Breakfast
- If you get a room with a balcony, Giraffes will greet you at 6 am in the morning. It's super cute
- Then you proceed to have breakfast with them
- They are sloppy but you don't mind at all
Mom bought herself a scooter at 56.
She was particular about buying it for herself when we offered to gift it to her.
I am happy she chose a beautiful red
@atherenergy
.
Mother's start living for themselves once their kids are independent and settled. ❤️
The most popular twitter folks I've met are so introverted and mostly awkward in real life whereas most extroverted outgoing people I've met have barely 4 followers.
Twitter is a fair highschool.
Woah didn't expect this tweet to blow up. I see interesting opinions.
Here's my take:
Prioritising work life balance early on is great but while looking for the first few internships one should look for learning, growth, good projects & peers. Balance gets struck eventually.
2. Stay II:
- You can choose to stay inside the reserve or outside.Prices vary accordingly
- We picked the Olgatuni Camp inside the reserve
- It was right in the middle of Mara and we even had Rhinos visiting us late night
- The food was decent
- It had wifi and basic amenities
Some books took me months, some days and some I finished in hours.
It took me a while to figure out what I liked and just when I thought I liked only non fiction books, I came across psychological thrillers. ❤️
And now I have about 20 books lined up that I can't wait to read
5. The Safari aka Game Drive:
- The safari can start early morning at 7 am and end at 6 PM
- The best citings happen early morning or late evening
- Mara is huge, you will always have an interesting animal on both sides of the road
- Big cats are rare to spot hence most in demand
All work and no play makes your org culture pretty dull.
Glad to have super fun peers at inFeedo who didn't mind starting a meeting with cards against work. Mostly hilarious, only mildly offensive 😆
Great job,
@getplumhq
team. Every office deserves a set.
4. Your Guide
- Your guide is the most important element of your trip. Spend alot of time picking someone who is experienced.
- A Silver/Gold star guide is great
- We got lucky with Jamal- he made sure we didn't miss any citing, told us stories, some true some made up 😁
3. The Drive:
- The drive from Nairobi to Mara is beautiful
- Nairobi is much cooler than Mara
- Very few stop for food, carry your snacks
- You will be mobbed by Masai women at the reserve entrance who will force you to buy their goods - they offer better prices than most shops
8. Cost/Worth
- It costs about $1600-2500 per night
- Costs go up/down depending on the season
- It is a mind blowing experience and I 10/10 recommend it
- They also have built a retreat to entertain guests who may have awkward flight timings
I hope I can visit again..... 🦒
8. Tips
- You can't trust every travel agent online, do your research, speak to their team, past customers
- If a deal is particularly cheap, double check- they're probably cutting corners/compromising on accomodation.
- While shopping, bargain as much as you would do in India
2. Stay:
- In most cases, you need to book the whole package that includes food, stay, drive from Nairobi to Masai Mara & game drives (safari)
- The drive from Nairobi is about 5-7 hours depending on traffic
- You may need to stay in Nairobi for 1 day before you head to Mara
1. Flights:
- Book 3-5 months in advance to get a good deal on direct flights.
- Pick Qatar Airways, Air Arabia or Kenyan Airlines
- We picked Ethiopian Airlines to save a few bucks- multiple cancellation and rescheduling made it very exhausting. Food was decent. Would rate 6/10
Your first few internships should help you understand what you want from your career in terms of work.
Imagine having work life balance but hating the 5 hours of work you have to do or the people you have to work with.
Asking these questions around that is as important.
6. High Tea
- Here's when you get a chance to interact with the giraffes again
- You get to feed the giraffes who are very Moody btw
- The high tea snacks were very good but I forgot to eat anything because I was too damn excited
- My jaws were hurting from smiling nonstop
Food I ate in Gurgaon & Old Delhi
- Pav Bhaji at Comorin in Gurgaon for about INR 1000
- Chole Bature + Chole Palak Rice at Gole Hatti in Chandni Chowk for INR 170
Both taste very good, only one is mummy approved.
3. The luxury experience
- They will pick you and drop you to the airport (their cars have wifi)
- A butler to take care of you
- well planned itinerary
- Food, drinks, laundry, everything on the house!
- Giraffes roaming around the property
Let me show you
Spending the weekend surrounded by art and artists ❤️
Somedays can get really hectic with a full-time job
@inFeedo
and managing the Cafe but every weekend my heart is full of gratitude.
Especially when our guests feel inspired to pursue art again.
Made the mistake of taking mom to a contemporary dining restaurant.
The food took her through an emotional rollercoaster.
Starting with surprise, shock, amusement before she broke into laughter and eventually anger on the way back.
"You only want to waste money" 👀
Goa Update: The new Mopa airport is great. They are truly delivering wow with small gestures.
Enough staff to greet and guide, trolleys lined up, band welcoming you with Bob Marley songs and free goodies.
But
I'm glad this thread is helpful ☺️
FAQs
Cost:40-50K/day/person in Mara for a safe experience. Much higher if you want luxury. Flights/Visa separate.

Vaccine: Mandatory yellow fever shot
Pics on Pixel 6 💜
Will share more details soon.
HNY! ❤️
@kunalb11
If they join you for money, they will leave for money too.
3-4 jobs in 3 years is a common sight on CVs lately.
Our best bet is to build a culture that is hard to replicate and impossible to refuse.
2. The Giraffe Manor
- It is a unique boutique hotels with just 12 rooms (this explains why it's always sold out)
- Built in 1932 on 150 acres of land in the in the Langata suburb of Nairobi.
- It's a home to endangered Rothschild Giraffes
- Super fascinating concept
I'm counting the number of tech bros visiting the cafe. So far the count is 29
12- Infosys
8- Various Start Up
7- Amazon
1- CGI
1- Myntra
Thinking of something called a "Techbro Discount"
Maybe if this tweet hits 5000 likes we will consider it.
What do you think?
5. Lunch
- You can pick from a menu that is specially curated for you
- They ask you for your food preferences well in advance
- They have good vegetarian options as well
- The cutlery and crockery is super cute
I need your help to make my first twitter hire
@inFeedo

#remotework
Bangalore is great but
It takes you one hour to go 10 KM
It takes you 20 minutes to get an Uber
There are no footpaths
There is alot of noise pollution
Finding a decent house in a good locality within your budget is almost impossible
The weather though is freaking fantastic
Parents rarely understand what we do at work
Our sales head, called the parents of his team members to congratulate them for how well their children are doing
Asked them to record a video telling their kids how proud they are
Played it during all hands the other day
Priceless.
#Goa
If you or anyone you know needs home cooked meals, please DM me.
My mother and a few other home chefs will be cooking all vegetarian meals starting tomorrow.
7. Dinner
- They set up a nice quite dinner by the fire
- A good choice of wines and whisky
- You aim to end your day early so you can wake up by 5 am to greet the Giraffes and feed them.
Culture doesn't break when you hire too many people too fast.
It breaks when you upgrade great ICs to managers without training or testing them.
Leading a team doesn't come naturally to everyone, it's a skill that needs to be taught.
1. Booking:
- The manor is sold out throughout the year
- You have to plan 1.5 years in advance to get a booking on your preferred dates
- You can also get lucky incase there is a cancellation (We did!)

Told mom I'll go anywhere with her, she took me to a "WhatsApp Group" gardening meet up.A group of people from across Goa who love plants. They don't know each other but share tips regularly
It was so much fun, learnt about wild fruits, compost, natural pesticides, recycling etc
A job should be something you do for a magical period of time when you are the best person for that job and that job is the best position for you
Once you stop learning, pass on that spot to someone who is better fitted for it and move on to a better role

I'm happy we could have a personalised ceremony true to our story.
My mother is 55 years young and she just joined college as a student!
She wanted this to be a secret, worrying about people judging her but this has been super inspiring for me and I hope her story inspires more mom's to pursue their dreams.
