Versatility is key for any artist. I don't think Drake is technically a better rapper than Lil Wayne, but he's way more versatile. He can do things that Wayne cannot. Drake has mastered being able to reinvent himself, but not lose his core audience, which has grown with him.

For me, the Nas vs Jay Z thing is like Biggie vs Pac. Pac is not a better emcee than Biggie, but he's a better artist cos he could and did touch on more topics and more meaningful stuff. Biggie is always gonna be Biggie, but he'll never have the depth of Tupac.

It has evolved over the years. In the first 2 years of sobriety I coped by telling myself I have to prove a point that I can. Later I just got accustomed to drinking juice at a table full of alcohol. You get used to saying “No thanks” and saying “No” again when they insist.
