73,000 is a LOT of people inside Soldier Field, but throughout its almost 100 years, Chicago's lakefront venue has held a LOT MORE PEOPLE.
Here are a few of those events: 🧵
“Chicago! We’ve broken the ticket record for tonight. This is the largest concert that’s ever been here. There’s 𝟳𝟯,𝟬𝟬𝟬 of you here tonight! Thank you so much for giving me your Saturday night.” -

Dear Manny Machado,
Thanks for throwing my son a ball. Unfortunately, we need to work on his catching skills.
It bounced four rows and into the hands of

fans who wouldn’t give it back to him - despite booing you throughout the game.

This video of Chicago pissing away money on green dye feels oddly appropriate on a day when the news cycle includes panic over a COVID funding shortfall borne of multi-billion dollar "partnerships" with corporations that reported record profits just last month

30 years ago, a Max Headroom impostor hijacked two Chicago TV broadcasts in a bizarre stunt that ended in a bare-bottomed taunt. The case remains unsolved.
Tom Skilling's name appears in

almost 30,000 times.
In the first story the Tribune published about him, Skilling talked about forecasting the weather — as a 15-year-old!

I interviewed him, his oldest sister, a granddaughter and the monastery's Reverend Mother to get more details about the fascinating life of Sister Mary Joseph of the Trinity:
A 92 year-old nun died today in a Carmelite Monastery in Illinois. She was kind of an unusual nun. She didn’t sing very well. She was frequently late to her required duties around the convent. She threw sticks for the communal dogs which was not allowed. Also she was my mother.

Since today is the 75th anniversary of Chicago Tribune’s infamous “Dewey Defeats Truman” headline, you might be wondering - who was Dewey and what did he look like?
Lemme tell you - he was a handsome dude and would have been the first US president in 35 years to have facial hair
As of today, I've spent 10 years at
