Perspective! This year on average 900 btc are mined per day. In contrast 6850 kilogram gold are mined per day with 1 kg gold valued roughly at 2 #Bitcoin This is equivalent 13'700 Bitcoin (or about 15 times the value of new #Bitcoin entering the market per day)

How can you verify my claim? Just create a new fork of the code and create a new genesis block and offer it to people. If the switch to POS is more useful to them than the existing #Bitcoin protocol then people would start accepting it as money and prefer it over #bitcoin 8/11

Couldn't go to Miami so I coded up my algorithm! In a simulated network with realistic balance values a node having 0.42 BTC could send 0.4 BTC to a remote node (that could receive up to 1.59 BTC) with no direct channel It took just 4 attempts to deliver and 814 sats in fees

Why won't changing the code work? In 2017 people tried to change the code - in fact they did. What happened is that with a user activated softfork () the users decided which version of the code is #bitcoin . Again: People accept money (and its form) 6/11

Let me conclude with a conjecture: If your POS fork of Bitcoin was successfully being accepted the number of people accepting #bitcoin might decline. This would probably reduce its value and reduce the incentive for miners to spend resources on finding new coins... 9/11

Just walked into a McDonald's in San Salvador to see if I could pay for my breakfast with bitcoin, tbh fully expecting to be told no. But low and behold, they printed a ticket with QR that took me to a webpage with Lightning invoice, and now I'm enjoying my desayuno traditional!

@LeoAW It's actually worse. Multiple times we offered to have engineers integrate lightning gratis for exchanges, on our dime. Nope. But they keep sending emails with new alts integrated, and another deliarwd, every week. And bitcoin marketing. Even donations to sponsor a bitcoin dev.

Of course multiplying an exponential decline (even if it starts small) with a linear function (the amount of sats I could allocate) will find it's maximum quickly and then decline sharply The maximum would be the number of sats I can expect to deliver with one attempt! 4/4

Until last month I subrented my old flat in Koblenz. Tenant moved out & I didn't find a new one yet (remote search fom norway is a bit tricky) I now decided that for at least half a year I can give the flat to an Ukrainian refugee for free & registered my flat with #Koblenz . 1/2

@jackmallers Why does it matter? We and Jack care about #Bitcoin for the right reasons and accept the current pain of unreliable payments. But many merchants / consumer may not... When introducing a technology to a wider audience and the UX is poor it will be hard to get a second chance ;(
