Winning the House means Trump can’t pass laws without Democratic votes. It gives Democrats a seat at the table.
It also means that Adam Schiff, not Devin Nunes, chairs the House Intel Committee. Democrats can investigate and check the Trump Administration.
Your votes mattered.
John Bolton knew about serious wrongdoing by the President of the United States.
What possessed him to remain silent and go out of his way to avoid testifying during an ongoing impeachment inquiry? What kind of person does that?
It really says something about the integrity of Joe Biden that his critics have to resort to making fun of his senior dog.
They’re attacking him for caring for a senior dog? That earns him points in my book.
If Mueller didn’t follow the law, a court would suppress the evidence so it couldn’t be used. The reason Trump’s lawyers are writing letters to Congress instead of Mueller or a court is because their legal arguments have no merit.
Mueller spokesman Peter Carr statement defending the special counsel's work: "When we have obtained emails in the course of our ongoing criminal investigation, we have secured either the account owner’s consent or appropriate criminal process.”
@politico
We’re not supposed to have one system of justice for the President’s friends and another system for the rest of us.
That’s the sort of corruption you’d expect in a banana republic, not the United States of America.
**Graphic Photo Warning**
If you have trouble looking at this photograph (posted below) of a man murdered today in Highland Park, then you should do something about gun violence in America.
TRUMP: "The germ has gotten so brilliant that the antibiotic can't keep up with it ... there's a whole genius to it ... not only is it hidden, but it's very smart."
Trump tells us not to trust the FBI, the Justice Department, the free press ... and now the courts. He is trying to undermine every independent check on his power. If that doesn't alarm you, it should.
It just shows everyone how broken and unfair our Court System is when the opposing side in a case (such as DACA) always runs to the 9th Circuit and almost always wins before being reversed by higher courts.
Trump has figured out that he can make absurd proclamations that cannot come to pass, and the media will repeat them.
Even if journalists include an explanation that he cannot legally accomplish what he proclaims, Trump gets the headline.
Please stop rewarding this deception.
Today Trump claimed he will seize large swaths of land from private citizens at gunpoint and declare a “state of emergency” to build a wall without Congressional approval.
In the face of tyranny, Republicans are outraged ... by a freshman Member of Congress using profanity.
Of all the ugliness in politics, the utter disrespect George Conway shows toward his wife, her career, place of work, and everything she has fought SO hard to achieve, might top them all.
@KellyannePolls
is great person and frankly his actions are horrible.
Of course Mueller obtained emails from a third party. Prosecutors in most white collar criminal investigations do that. It’s not “inappropriate” or even unusual. Anyone who claims otherwise has no idea what they’re talking about.
@TomiLahren
You can start by bagging groceries at the supermarket or cleaning bedpans at a hospital, instead of asking others to risk their lives while you sit at home tweeting on your phone.
VP saw 384 men sleeping inside fences, on concrete w/no pillows or mats. They said they hadn’t showered in weeks, wanted toothbrushes, food. Stench was overwhelming. CBP said they were fed regularly, could brush daily & recently got access to shower (many hadn’t for 10-20 days.)
“I will never testify against Trump.” This statement was recently made by Roger Stone, essentially stating that he will not be forced by a rogue and out of control prosecutor to make up lies and stories about “President Trump.” Nice to know that some people still have “guts!”
Remember, Michael Cohen only became a “Rat” after the FBI did something which was absolutely unthinkable & unheard of until the Witch Hunt was illegally started. They BROKE INTO AN ATTORNEY’S OFFICE! Why didn’t they break into the DNC to get the Server, or Crooked’s office?
“Trying to use the 25th Amendment to try and circumvent the Election is a despicable act of unconstitutional power grabbing...which happens in third world countries. You have to obey the law. This is an attack on our system & Constitution.” Alan Dershowitz.
@TuckerCarlson
Brett Kavanaugh decided that his best path to confirmation as a Supreme Court Justice was to act like an angry partisan.
Judging by the reaction of Republicans, he was right.
What a sad day for this country. That’s not what a Supreme Court Justice is supposed to be.
I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI. He has pled guilty to those lies. It is a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful. There was nothing to hide!
The real reason Obama didn’t warn about the Russian threat before the election is because Mitch McConnell threatened to politicize that decision if he did so.
Why didn’t President Obama do something about the so-called Russian Meddling when he was told about it by the FBI before the Election? Because he thought Crooked Hillary was going to win, and he didn’t want to upset the apple cart! He was in charge, not me, and did nothing.
John McCain was born abroad. So was Ted Cruz.
Kamala Harris was born in the United States of America.
Yet they're raising questions about *her*? It's not hard to figure out why.
THREAD: Did Senator Richard Burr engage in insider trading when he sold off $1.6 million in stock while he was receiving briefings about the coronavirus?
The House of Representatives passed a resolution unanimously calling for the Mueller report to be made public.
After that 420-0 vote, today Senator Lindsey Graham blocked consideration of this resolution in the Senate. What do you have to hide,
@LindseyGrahamSC
?
Don't forget that DACA was an executive action. Trump decided to end it, but it's in his power to reverse that decision at any time. Don't let him get away with blaming Congress for his own decision.
I was one of over 1,100 former DOJ officials who signed this letter condemning Barr’s politicization of the Justice Department and calling on him to resign.
Trump official: “The president means no disrespect to our troops; it’s just that the way he speaks, he can sound like an asshole sometimes.”
Their defense is that Trump means no disrespect because he’s just an asshole. What kind of defense is that?
While we debate whether the comedian at the press dinner told appropriate jokes, Trump has managed to convince millions of Americans that the press is the “enemy of the American people.”
New York federal prosecutors conclude and assert that when Michael Cohen committed a campaign finance violation, he "acted in coordination with and at the direction of" Donald Trump (page 11), which means their other evidence is consistent with Cohen.
The opening statement of Devin Nunes is full of attacks on the character of Democrats and complaints about the process, but lacks a defense of Trump on the merits.
That’s because there really isn’t one.
Michael Cohen's attorney just claimed on
@OutFrontCNN
that Trump was not aware of the Stormy Daniels agreement or the payment, which means that there was no contract between Trump and Daniels, and Daniels can release the materials. Why would he admit this on national television?

“Kushner’s team expressed: that because the virus had hit blue states hardest, a national plan was unnecessary and would not make sense politically.”
They played politics with our lives. Over 154,000 Americans have paid the price.
Roger Stone claims that when Trump "answered the written interrogatories, he correctly and honestly said Roger Stone and I never discussed [lying to Congress] and we never did."
How does Roger Stone know what Trump told Mueller unless they discussed this matter?
.
@TuckerCarlson
: Have you spoken to the president about [lying to Congress]?
Stone: I have not... When the president answered the written interrogatories, he correctly and honestly said Roger stone and I never discussed this and we never did.
Trump’s team not only argues that he can pardon himself but also argues that he has unlimited power to investigate his enemies and end investigations into his friends. If this sounds like tyranny to you, that’s because it is.
JUST IN: Does Pres. Trump have the power to pardon himself?
"He's not, but he probably does," Rudy Giuliani tells
@GStephanopoulos
. "He has no intention of pardoning himself, but that doesn't say he can't."
In prior eras, if the Justice Department wrote in a public filing that the President of the United States directed someone to commit a serious crime, that could mean the end of that Administration.
Tomorrow will any Congressional Republicans have the integrity to do *anything*?
If I made this argument in court, no judge or juror would take me seriously.
What an embarrassing display by the Attorney General of the United States, who is supposed to be our lawyer.
"Pepper spray is not a chemical irritant. It's not chemical" -- AG Barr uses painstaking distinctions to defend the use of force against protesters near the White House last Monday
You have to read this to believe it.
Trump was planning to appear frail and then rip over his dress shirt to reveal a Superman tee-shirt when he left the hospital, according to the
@nytimes
.
Whenever I think Trump can’t do something more ridiculous, he proves me wrong.
Roger Stone, a well-known exaggerator and accused liar, said he was treated worse than Osama bin Laden. He said today, "To storm my house with greater force than was used to take down Bin Laden or El Chapo or Pablo Escobar, to terrorize my wife and my dogs, it’s unconscionable."
It's disgusting that the ultra-wealthy like Jared Kushner can get away with paying no taxes while the rest of us pay our fair share.
It's even more disgusting that we've come to accept that the mega rich can get away without paying taxes. If you're not outraged, you should be.
Exclusive: We obtained confidential documents showing Jared Kushner's personal finances from 2009-2016. Despite earning millions of dollars, he appears to not have paid federal income taxes in most of those years.

Staffers for Devin Nunes apparently threatened to hold Rod Rosenstein in Contempt of Congress in a recent meeting. He told them if they did, he would have the right to subpoena their communications and put them on the witness stand to prove them wrong. He's 100% right about that.
Feud erupts between DOJ and Nunes, with Rosenstein now threatening to call for a House investigation into Nunes staffers after DOJ rebuts account of heated, closed-door clash, per

Trump: So shower heads, you take a shower, the water doesn’t come out. You wanna wash your hands, the water doesn’t come out... Dishwashers you didn’t have any water... In most places of the country, water is not a problem. They don’t know what do with it. It’s called rain
CNN is so dishonest. Today we took reporters to a detention facility on the border for families and children and all told us they were being treated well.
No honest person with common sense believes that a 59-year-old journalist entered an embassy, picked a fight with many younger men who were armed with a bone saw, and was so violent that they had no choice but to hack him into small pieces.
If Merrick Garland didn’t think there was a serious possibility that Trump would be indicted, he wouldn’t have appointed a special counsel.
He didn’t appoint Jack Smith to wind down these investigations.
Sarah Sanders on CBN: "I think God calls all of us to fill different roles at different times and I think that he wanted Donald Trump to become president."
THREAD: Why are Trump’s lawyers upset that Mueller obtained transition emails from a government agency? (Hint: They’re just playing politics, but this is a bad sign for them.)
Trump asked the FBI Director for "loyalty" and then asked him to drop the criminal investigation of his friend.
Comey acted to expose that corruption and he is faulted for not following DOJ policy?
Trump's corrupt acts are the real problem, not Comey's attempt to expose them.
So do you care to explain why you fired the SDNY U.S. Attorney,
@realDonaldTrump
?
Does it have anything to do with their investigation of Rudy Giuliani or your campaign?
Trading an official act (not signing legislation) in exchange for something of value is a federal crime. It’s the same crime Rod Blagojevich is in prison for.
Trump met with Wayne LaPierre and asked if the NRA would finance his impeachment defense. LaPierre said he would if Trump promised not to pursue any gun legislation.

wrote a Fake piece today implying that because White House Councel Don McGahn was giving hours of testimony to the Special Councel, he must be a John Dean type “RAT.” But I allowed him and all others to testify - I didn’t have to. I have nothing to hide......
This is remarkable. The President of the United States allegedly hired private spies to dig up dirt on American citizens in order to discredit the work they did on behalf of the American people.
Now that Senator Johnson is back from visiting Moscow, he wants us to lift our sanctions against Russia for its invasion of Crimea. What a coincidence.
Republicans need to ask themselves whether they want to live in a nation where a president could commit crimes and hide evidence of those crimes from the House of Representatives, the only body that could act on that evidence.
After all, Trump won’t be president forever.
New: Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir on Jamal Khashoggi: “Mistakes happen. We acknowledge that this was a huge mistake." Per
@JoshNBCNews
There’s no evidence that Rosenstein and McCabe were working together to plan an illegal act. Trump is lying to you in order to distract from his own wrongdoing, which is what caused those men to be alarmed in the first place.
Wow, so many lies by now disgraced acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe. He was fired for lying, and now his story gets even more deranged. He and Rod Rosenstein, who was hired by Jeff Sessions (another beauty), look like they were planning a very illegal act, and got caught.....
Doug Jones prosecuted the KKK for bombing a church and killing four little black girls. I guess Trump doesn’t care about that kind of crime, so he’s supporting a man who molested little girls.
A "mistake" is when you leave your keys in the car, not when you ask an authoritarian regime to investigate your political opponent on national television.
Orrin Hatch on Donald Trump directing Michael Cohen to commit a federal crime: “I don’t care.”
Orrin Hatch on Bill Clinton lying under oath about having sex with Monica Lewinsky: “Perjury and obstruct justice ... rise to the level of high crimes and misdemeanors.”
Hatch dismisses allegations of Trump crimes over hush money.
Asked if he had any concerns, Hatch said: “The Democrats will do anything to hurt this president.” Told it was alleged by SDNY, Hatch told me: “Okay but I don’t care; all I can say is he’s doing a good job as President”
Giuliani’s statement that Trump will not even answer *written* questions about obstruction is revealing.
It suggests Trump’s lawyers couldn’t write an answer for him that is not incriminating, consistent with the other evidence, and won’t be contradicted by him in the future.
No collusion. No conspiracy. No obstruction. It’s good news that we can conclusively set aside the notion that the president and his team had somehow participated in Russia’s interference in our electoral process.
The text messages are even more damning than the transcript. At this point, there isn’t much question about what happened.
The only question is whether Republicans care enough about this nation to stop a president who is brazenly abusing his power to invite foreign interference.
The First Amendment prevents the government from punishing private entities based on their political views. Typically politicians don’t admit they’re doing that, but Georgia Lt. Governor

Why is Rudy Giuliani billing himself as the former Attorney General of the United States? He has never held that position and he is not currently a government official, as he falsely claims.
@RudyGiuliani
You were once a US Attorney in
@SDNYnews
, but were never appointed US Attorney General nor served in that capacity.
Why are you misrepresenting your public service?
The framers believed that there should never, ever be a partisan impeachment. That is why the Constitution requires a 2/3 vote of the Senate for conviction. Yet not one House Republican voted for these articles. 12/15
Today Sarah Sanders suggests that because Trump hasn’t been charged with a crime, he didn’t commit one.
Under DOJ guidance, Trump can’t be charged with a crime while in office. Now that his lawyer has implicated him in a crime, the public must examine the evidence against him.
Senator Kennedy makes clear that he doesn’t care if there are tapes proving that the President of the United States lied to the American people about a major crisis, resulting in almost 200,000 deaths.
He does not deserve to hold that office.
Remember the undocumented pregnant minor who was denied access to an abortion? Brett Kavanaugh was in the minority of judges who voted against giving her access to an abortion. He will vote to overturn Roe v. Wade.
