the ability to purchase books is a privilege. not everyone needs to buy books to be on booktwt or any reading spaces. libraries are so important and so valid and growing up, that was the only way I, a poc child from a low-income home, could read
who else simultaneously updates Goodreads and StoryGraph bc you don’t want to fully let go but you love the new platform so much so you just use both 😅
y’all please reconsider using fonts in your bio/username, I know you may think they’re cute, but they make it hard for people who use screen readers to understand or even to interact with your tweets
normalize not giving a fuck about how others read and what “counts” for their reading goals
like honestly I am so sick of this elitist bs surrounding books of all things??? like we’re reading books???? quit acting like you’re better than everyone else, it’s not a competition
me struggling to finish any one of the three books that I’m currently reading so that I can move on and read a different book that I suddenly want to read even more than these ones
does anyone else have the habit of checking the amount of pages you have left in a chapter when you’re reading a physical book?
someone noticed this when I was reading in public and asked me about it, I didn’t even notice I was doing it until then 😭
i wish goodreads had a spotify wrapped type thing at the end of the year. most read author, popular genres, most reread or niche books, etc etc. i think it would be so cute
wishing I wasn’t a mood reader sometimes so I could be in gc with people and scream abt the same books together instead of being a year and a half behind everyone else 🥲
my fav romance books are the really cheesy ones, you know the types that are like the romcoms I watched growing up. I eat that shit up. it will 100% make me flail and smile like a little kid
If you think buying books is “better” for your “aesthetics” for your stupid little online account, cool for you, but don’t shit on libraries for giving everyone equal access to literacy, check your fucking privilege
there are also so many countries that don’t have equal access to libraries like we do in the US and so many countries also don’t have access to ANY of the new and popular books that we do, so just remember that even in having access to good libraries, we are privileged
hey guess what, I’ve seen several people on the tl say they hated a book that I consider my favorite book read so far this year, and you know what? I just kept scrolling because everyone is allowed to have their own opinion and everyone’s taste in books is different 😗✌🏽
I think it’s time for a re-introduction for my new

if steve harrington dies I’m cancelling not only my subscription to Netflix, but my subscription to life, like vecna come take me I won’t put up a fight
blocking and muting is not that serious and getting upset with someone over it is ridiculous bc they’re literally just curating their tl to be what they want it to be
I’d like to make an UPDATED 18+
#booktwt
list, so if you’d like to be added, make sure you reply to this tweet and have your age somewhere VISIBLE on your profile so I can confirm that you are, in fact, 18 or older — trying to make it easier to find & follow active accounts
please interact with this tweet if you’re active and would like me to keep following you, I need to see because since I’ve been back I get like little to no interaction on booktwt and I need to know who’s still on here
twt is being weird and not letting me add more people rn but if you want to be added to my 18+ booktwt list, interact with this tweet and make sure you have your age (18 or older) somewhere on your profile 😊
literally that white woman who trashed on bipoc books is getting what she deserves. quit babying white women when they pin their racism and hatred on mental health and medication like that is not an excuse and she is getting no sympathy from me
shaming people for wanting access to literacy is a shit take and you should check your privilege. there’s literally fucking war going on in the world right now and you care about where people are getting their books? fuck off
Listen, if he controls shadows, I will be obsessed.
I don’t think you heard me, so let me say it again IF HE CONTROLS SHADOWS I WILL BE OBSESSED.
Thank you.
Friendly reminder: I WILL NOT follow you back if you don’t have your age somewhere in your profile. I’d prefer to interact with people 18 or older, as I am 27 years old thank you, have a nice day/morning/evening
having sex does not denote someone’s ability to understand and process what is abusive vs what is not abusive — being a virgin does not mean someone is impressionable or dumb by any means
let people enjoy whatever the fuck they want and stop being assholes to them because what they like isn’t always going to be what you like. you’re not better than anyone because you read (insert whatever gives you a superiority complex here)
y’all DO realize that we are ALL fucking annoying on here, right? like truly, take your pick, think of one of your favorite things, then think about how you talk about your favorite thing — there’s a chance you’ve been annoying about it
I’m on a mission to find and read all of the Latinx Fantasy books I possibly can (not limiting this to this year bc it’s just as I find and fit them into my reading life and schedule), so if you have any favorites or ones that you know of written by Latinx authors pls send 🫶🏽
you know, this idea that we have to finish a certain amount of books or read x, y, and z or that you can’t read or reread something is all self imposed and if you want to read something or don’t want to read something, then like, you can do that guilt free
WHEN THE FUCK WERE Y’ALL GOING TO TELL ME THAT A WYRM IS NOT A WORM LIKE I FOR REAL LEARNED THIS VIA A TIKTOK MIRNS SENT ME LIKE FEYRE FUCKING KILLED A DRAGON???? THAT’S MY HIGH LADY FUCK YEAH
REPLY to this tweet if you want to be on my interact list — I’m not trying to hit rate limit on any tweets from people who don’t interact or I don’t even follow — only adding reply only bc then you’re not really interacting are you 🤨
mentions of like real world places in books always kill me, but even more so in fantasy books, like walgreens being thrown in to the prisoner’s throne has me 💀💀💀
Look, y’all are taking the Lightlark thing way too far. I get skepticism and valid criticism of the book after reading it, but going after Alex Aster is just straight up bullying.
just want to say that even if we don’t have the same taste in books/characters/whatever, I would never try to make you feel bad for it or put you down because of it. if it brings you joy, don’t let anyone take that away from you! love what you love, unashamedly 💗
you have a right to like or dislike anything you want, but treating people like shit because they don’t like a character you like or a book you like makes you an asshole who has too much time on their hands
kind of tired of all the exclusive and special and limited edition copies of books out there now — like it’s so nice to get pretty books with exclusive content, but it’s also kind of exhausting and anxiety inducing 😩
this as well as the claim that it “isn’t clear enough” that she is disabled when it is literally written by an author with the same disability and it’s a very true representation makes me v upset — like the book doesn’t need to TELL you bc it’s being shown to you bffr
People commenting to me that they didn’t realize violet in fourth wing was disabled they just thought she was weak is so nauseating especially during disability pride month 😭
reading and liking dark romance is fine but let me tell you, there’s definitely a fucking line like which is — anything that involves minors, yes even fictional ones, should not be found enjoyable — this includes anyone still in high school regardless of if they are 18 years old
It’s so funny when people try to be like “oh the writing is bad” to get me to not read something like I’m not looking for a peer-reviewed, award-winning piece, I just want something that makes me feel good 😌
I’ve been watching shows and movies instead of reading and it’s ok
sometimes you don’t have the capacity to read and it’s ok to give yourself space from the things you love if they aren’t giving you what you need rn
this is me giving you the permission you won’t give yourself 💗
commenting that you didn’t like an author’s previous book on a post announcing their new book is NOT the move — in the way that reviews are not author spaces, it kind of works the other way around too, an author’s personal profile and posts is not the place for your reviews
I want to hear some unproblematic wholesome bookish related opinions or things you do. There’s been so much negativity going around lately, let’s spread some positivity for once.
5 SHINING 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 - I didn’t know ANYTHING abt this book other than it’s the FL Feb YA Book and I was so confused about why all these people are paying $$$ & foaming at the mouth for this Special Edition copy because NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT IT? SO FUCKING GOOD GO READ IT PLS!!
plenty of factors go into reading pace — reading is what I do for fun and if I’m doing well and I’m not busy, I’ll fly through books, it just means I’m enjoying them. Reading isn’t a contest and whether you read 200 or 2-3, it doesn’t make you any better or worse than anyone else
Over consumption and hustle culture got y’all thinking that reading 200 books in one year is better than reading 3-5 books slowly and sitting with the information or the story
hey uh, if you’re going to immerse yourself in literary communities, maybe don’t complain about how many people you notice are reading and how you want to gatekeep reading??? idk just a thought 🤷🏽♀️
