What you don’t see on twitter is all the organising to support people stuck in town and can’t get home, ordinaryWhatsApp groups checking in on people who are vulnerable to these far right thugs. It’s a terrible night in Dublin but our solidarity and resilience won’t let them win.
This gets wild! On

child benefit was not paid cos a couple went abroad. Dept spokesperson told them that anyone receiving child benefit had to inform them if they leave the state. Folks, this is not about PUP payments but something more sinister about monitoring people.
Look what we avoided in Ireland!
It’s ten years this year since the
#Right2Water
movement started, opposing the commodification and privatisation of water.
Never forget!
Privatising water was a colossal scam - and we are the victims.
Our waterways are filthy. Our bills are up 40%. Shareholders - 70% overseas - enriched by £72 bn. From 0 debt to £60 bn. Investment down 15%.
End it now. Save us money. Clean up our water.
Neither party will. Why?
Please donate some cash to get some basics for the men from Mount Street who’ve been so badly treated by this government. Kicking them out from their tents in Dublin City to the middle of nowhere to hide them from tourists for St Patrick’s weekend.

I’m thinking about Philomena Canning, the midwife who loved & cherished woman during pregnancy & childbirth. The HSE tried to destroy her, by taking away her career & reputation. She continued to clear her name as she is dying of cancer. She won. She won.
Some of my footage has been used in this video, w/o permission, payment or a byline. Trade unions should respect precarious freelance workers rights and lead by example. I'm a dedicated union member. I deserve decency & respect from unions. Am I part of this better future?

Proud to say that 6, possibly 7 clips used in this are ones filmed by my self. Please support independent filmmakers & journalists. And do not erase us from media history.
Senator Michael McDowell is the politician responsible for this. He wants to be re-elected to the Seanad. Please don’t help him. He already has another job.

Ireland’s women’s movement is all the richer for actively supporting & centring Trans rights. We are vibrant enough & strong enough to insist on not leaving our sisters who are trans. We’re fighting for bodily autonomy, no ine gets left behind

Sending love and strength & solidarity through this clusterfuck hell of a referendum to all in our disability community. My head and heart is weary and heavy. I’m too exhausted to be angry anymore. I’m looking forward to healing with community & through our future resistance. 1/3

This language has grown organically in Ireland and it is what we choose. Our campaign was about bodily autonomy and that logically included our trans family. Our movement is so big & was strengthened through inclusion. Ireland has had a terrible history to bodily autonomy & we

This. Just this. There’s a whole generation of young activists who get it. Get class. Get struggle.Get solidarity. Working class solidarity is the currency of modern Ireland. There are those who choose to absent themselves from this. Marginalized trans ppl are central to it.
Trans Pride Dublin stands in solidarity with the nurses and midwives on strike today! Trans people need healthcare, how can nurses look after their patients when they are underpaid and overworked?

your New World Order producer (Fergus Elphinstone) is refusing to pay me for my copyright that was broadcast on your show last Friday night. I know you wouldn't tolerate nicking a precarious freelancers work, so please ensure that I am respected and paid.
On Tuesday a doctor in Holles Street Hospital told me to lose weight to stop my ongoing UTI condition. A humiliating and shaming experience (losing weight wasn’t the worst thing she said to me). We don’t just need a new maternity hospital we need a radical new health system
#NMH
A surgeon removed my left kidney last week.
It could have been saved if doctors had taken my complaints of stabbing flank pain + history of UTIs more seriously.
But, as studies have shown, women’s pain isn’t taken as seriously as men’s.

We have to much be beyond the ‘aren’t they great’ narrative.
This man is a racist. Brought in the referendum in 2004 to change citizenship in Ireland based on bloodlines.
Using a racist trope that black pregnant women were coming to Ireland to have “anchor babies” in order to get Irish citizenship.

I’m very sorry to learn that Rose Dugdale has died. I was very fond of her. She was always great for the chats, that light in her eyes never faded. Out on every protest, not jaded or cynical. Jim Monaghan pushing her manual wheelchair on protests when she couldn’t walk anymore.
Apropos today's media coverage of that book and for the month that's in it, here's a photo of Rose Dugdale at Dublin Pride c1984. Photo from Kieran Rose.

Just imagine what it was like to be a teenage girl in the 1980s & seeing her & hearing “I know no shame, I feel no pain”. We knew then that it was possible to have another Ireland. All we needed was the courage to stand up & fight for it. She was so liberating.

Looking back at my archive & so grateful I went out to document as much as I could of Ireland's social movements. They by no means comprehensive but on the first anniversary of repealing the 8th & women's bodily autonomy, oh my heart.
