My grandmother “nanny” Teresa Brown turned 107 today. The last year of social isolation in long term care has been really hard on her but she has been resilient. She has survived the Spanish flu, two World Wars, and now the Covid 19 pandemic. She really is remarkable.

Thanks to the new Ontario long term care policy allowing outdoor visits again, I was able to introduce my 107 year grandmother Teresa Brown to my daughter Savannah for the first time. It was priceless to see her reaction & wonderful to see Teresa in person again. A good day!

We are getting lots of questions about whether outdoor rinks & tobogganing hills will be closed. We will NOT be closing these outdoor amenities regardless of what some municipalities have been doing on their own accord. We have actually opened 4 new outdoor artificial rinks!

Even worse, this reckless 20 year old driver had a prohibited license for multiple driving offenses. He had plates that didn’t match his car. He only has a broken leg but his victims have had their lives stolen. This is criminal negligence causing death. He belongs in jail.

There is a correlation with some severe Covid19 cases & obesity. There is a public health consequence to limiting physical activity. Given the prov announcement closing indoor recreation, I will be looking to see what outdoor amenities we can offer to residents to stay active.

Visited my 106 year old grandmother Teresa Brown for the first time since mid March. She lives at a long term care home that was devastated by the #COVID19 outbreak. Despite the recent adversity, my grandmother was in great spirits today. She is one of a kind. ☘️

Some good news in the sea of negative headlines that we have seen lately, my 106 year old grandmother Teresa Brown was vaccinated yesterday. She is in a long term care home in Toronto which was hit really hard by #COVID19 . They had 48 fatalities in a home with only 168 residents.

Ontario’s enhanced restrictions were always intended to stop large gatherings where spread can happen. Our regulations will be amended to allow playgrounds but gatherings outside will still be enforced. Play outside safely. Parents keep your distance & wear masks if you can’t.
