Just started shaking when I looked at my step score and had to excuse myself from the psych floor. I started crying when talking to my mom. I surpassed my goal by a lot and could not be happier! I’m so proud of myself 😭

I attended a virtual residency fair and ended up as the ONLY applicant in a breakout room with 3 ppl from the program, including the PD and APD for 20 mins. They said “we don’t write names down” and “this isn’t an interview” but man did it feel like one😅 Me during the Zoom ⬇️

Update: I explained what happened and got the nicest reply from the *Program Director* and was told they would be offering me an interview 🥹 Honesty and being true to yourself goes a long way. At the end of the day, you want to go to a program that wants YOU.

@southhousemafia 1 year. When I was 17 I did 1 semester of college, got < 1.0 GPA, and decided to withdraw. I just wasn’t ready for college at the time. I worked as a waitress, saved up money, and backpacked around Europe. I applied to college again and then graduated in the top 10% of my class!

Really great tool to use when making your tank list. You plug in all your programs and it asks you to choose between 2 programs a bunch of times and then it spits out a rank list for you based on your answers.

The worst part of med school is what’s not under your control like attendings filling out evals, clerkship directors filling out your final eval, and letter writers actually writing and uploading the LOR to ERAS! So frustrating putting your future in someone else’s *busy* hands

My favorite interviews were the ones that were purely conversational!! For example I talked about Grey’s Anatomy for like 15 mins with one interviewer. It was amazing 😂

So confused why the activities descriptions on ERAS have 1020 characters but the “most meaningful” essays are limited to 300 characters 😭 Not sure how to explain how life changing something was in 3 sentences 🧐

So psych will have 5 signals this year. My Q: if we do a sub-I at a program, do we also need to signal them? Rotating there is kind of a signal in itself no? If we do a sub-I and dont signal them, I dont think that should hurt your chances there. Would love to hear from a PD!

Okay I figured out why I thought this. I always remembered that Lyme meningitis causes lymphocyte predominant findings on CSF so I guess my brain just lumped it in with the viruses 😅

Here is what ECFMG charges for USMLEs from IMGs. I have made a comparison table of fee in USD. This is a perfect example of profiteering. And definitely IMGs are far more rich so they afford this. Please say after me - ECFMG is not friend of IMGs. #ECFMGIsNotFriendofIMGs

I gotta keep reminding myself that every NBME practice test I’ve taken thus far has given me at least a 92% chance of passing step. Fighting the urge to postpone every day my exam date gets closer 😩 2 more days!
