Then they escorted me to the plane. The flight attendant saw me and asked what happened, I told her and when I showed her my new economy class boarding pass, she asked me pick any Business Class seat I like. That was the silver lining in my ordeal. 🥺🥺🥺.

When got back to Addis, I wasn’t allowed to leave the airport cuz they wouldn’t release my passport. Despite the 12hr layover, they made me sleep on a metal chair in the airport over night. Such inhumane treatment for someone who isn’t a fugitive. That was so unnecessary

In fact, I couldn’t find any information on a Mozambican embassy or consulate in Nigeria, which let me to believe there isn’t any. The logistics officer and travel agent found the same information that I did: “Nigerians get visa on arrival”.

My boss even wrote a letter confirming my employment, including a return ticket, and hotel reservation confirmation directly from the hotel. All paid for. I was ready to go! Well, that was until I got to Mozambique after a 22hr flight time with @flyethiopian .

I will have to provide a letter of invitation. I asked where/who the letter was to come from. She said it has to come from the Mozambican embassy in my country inviting me. Her English wasn’t really great so I often asked her to repeat her questions, which I think angered her.

Has anyone else noticed that every time there’s positive news, or stories that portray queer people in a positive light, most Nigerian blogs, like Instablog, don’t report it? This points to one thing - most Nigerian blogs are enablers & perpetrators of homophobia in Nigeria.

It’s very important to note that #Angola didn’t just repeal the colonial-era law that criminalized sexual acts btw people of the same sex. Angola also made it a crime to discriminate against people based on sexual orientation and gender identity. That is progress. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈

Nigerians join Americans to remember 9/11, yet there is NO memorial of the over 3 million Nigerians who died in the Nigerian civil war in the 60’s. We remember Independence Day, etc., while forgetting that those who died in the war had to die so that Nigeria can remain one.

Until the 1950’s, interracial marriages were not permitted by Catholic canon law. It wasn’t until 1983 that mixed marriages were permitted to happen inside the church by canon law. The church has changed its laws many times & it’s still standing. This time won’t be any different.
