today one of my favorite 7th graders asked for "books where kids have adventures over the summer" and "books where girls are told things they can't do but then they DO them" and some days you just have the best job you know.

(they checked out AS BRAVE AS YOU by @JasonReynolds83 THREE STRIKE SUMMER by @SkylerSchrempp BARAKAH BEATS by Maleeha Siddiqui and THE CASE OF THE MISSING MARQUESS by @NancySpringer , because they also wanted "something I can compare and contrast an adaptation")

@misskubelik afair(ecal), Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants hits both those markers, though it was a bit twee/cheesy.

@misskubelik Just about anything by Tamora Pierce! I'm reading Protector of the Small for the first time after reading her Immortals and Alanna series when I was younger!

@misskubelik Midnight Ghost Club is one that comes to mind. The Body by Stephen King. Or even It if they’re feeling ambitious.

@misskubelik Hand that girl any of the Tamora Pierce series, starting with “The Woman Who Rides Like a Man” Quartet—girl hides her gender to become a knight, “Protector of the Small” —second girl to become a knight.
