starting a music thread. feel like i don’t share a lot of myself on here (intentionally)
but i also think music is so integral to me it’s the easiest way to let yall in a *lil* bit lol
& i also get so much joy from sharing/receiving music recs
so uh… this gets me t’d up ASAP
i’m still stuck on Rapinoe’s immediate reaction after going down. she really chuckled as if to say “well, that’s what happens when you’re old”
Pinoe gon Pinoe, even in the face of heartbreak. we’ve been blessed to experience her excellence for this long

"It’s almost like, if [an athlete is] feminine and white, that’s the golden ticket. If they’re girlie and Black, that’s fine. If they’re masculine and white, it’s okay. And then anything else . .."
thinkin bout what we saw from Aliyah Boston (
@aa_boston
) vs. A'ja Wilson/LV yesterday, & a couple things stand out. As a ROOKIE she:
- stays involved even when she isn't *getting the ball* (🙃)
- has a levelheaded vibe but keeps consistent intensity
- is a CONSTANT communicator
the convo i referenced earlier that i don’t think we’re ready for. across sports.
nun wrong with thanking God! but uhhh… “if you don’t believe in God there’s something wrong with you” is definitely different and if we can’t concede that we aren’t ready to have the chat 🤷🏽♀️
the more of these videos that come out the more I’m like… yall really wanted to let kiddo skirt the line when these folks put in blood sweat and tears to make this roster.
FOR SOME RATINGS?!??? please.
I’M DONE Y’ALL!!! I successfully defended my graduate capstone ✨😭🎊‼️
Thank you to all my colleagues, professors and directors who helped me on this journey, mad love to you all 💕
it bothers me so much that Monica & Chiney gotta sit on this man’s show today to help ease the blow on his public image.
so irritating that the only platform these conversations are being had on belong to the people who *are* the issue
run us that daily WBB/WSports show NEOWWW

Today was my last day in
@cronkitenews
, and after I present my graduate project on Friday, I’ll have completed my master’s degree.
It has been QUITE a journey, but I can definitely say I’m walking out a much stronger journalist. Excited to see where these skills take me!
Y’ALL! I got the HOODIE! I wanted to get one myself but when I looked they were sold out... come to find out my dad was scheming!
Grateful every day to have a dad at all, but especially to have one that’s backed the W since day one.

I love me some Coach Yo. But this…
there are so many BRILLIANT young coaches out here. I would love to see more of them get hired rather than folks who’ve proven themselves unworthy
poor behavior can’t be rewarded with second chances. we talking about young lives
This was such a fun story to work on. Beautiful photography by
@DougGimesy
! Thanks to
@Rachael_Bale
for bringing me on & helping me with my first story as a freelance journalist. Never would’ve imagined it’d be for

Also, shoutout

And now for your Friday palate-cleanser: Meet the woman raising three orphaned baby wombats during the pandemic lockdown by

@airswoopes22
are cute, okay?)
Some reminders:
1) Understanding and acknowledging that Black lives matter and that racism exists is not bias
2) Wearing a mask and social distancing to protect yourself and others from COVID-19 is not a “political thing”
Carry on.

Had a blast sideline reporting at ASU’s first women’s basketball game of the season. Hope to get out there again soon!
Thanks to
@markaredaville
for giving me the opportunity and
@sophiaelenga
and
@gaulislife33
for being great teammates!
I’ll tell you what. I’ve been grouped in with “young folks” and “kids” in a derogatory manner a lot in my (recent) adulthood.
But listen closely when I tell you: “young folks” and “kids” are going to change the world. Stamp.
🚨 ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨
ESPN’s
@TheUndefeated
decided that a show some of
@WCRhoden
students and I put together was good enough to put up on their site!
Introducing Don’t Trip, a show by young people, for young people.
Watch, comment, enjoy! 🏀

yes. heavy on the need for queer women on broadcasts 🙃 and masc women. and non-binary people. and trans people. like… we have an opportunity with the W to dig even deeper but ion know if folks truly ready for that conversation
Short on time? Wanna know what’s going on in Arizona News today? Have an Alexa?
Say “open Cronkite News,” *wait a couple seconds,* and I’ll give you today’s news briefing on CN2Go.
So. This is the last week of my graduate program. Lots to do, as you can imagine. But there’s a light at the end of the tunnel because Saturday is the
#WNBA
season tip-off. So I just gotta keep it together for ONE. MORE. WORK WEEK.
Four years ago today I blubbered incoherently in my best friends’ room and told them I was 🏳️🌈.
My hope on this
#NationalComingOutDay
is that folks stop assuming other people are straight, so “coming out” no longer has to be a *thing,* and LGBTQ folk can go on about our lives!
I’ve written words as a means of expressing myself for years, long before I decided to go to school for journalism.
I’ll never have enough words for the constant heartbreak of being Black in America. Feeling like folks get to debate your existence...
love the fact that the
#WNBA
is getting to the bag. the fact that it’s Skims? ehhh I can deal I guess.
but the fact that this campaign is so OVERTLY targeted to femme women with no nod to the other ways players in the league express… 👎🏽
but this has been ongoing since ‘97 🤷🏽♀️
Journalists... cover this with integrity. This is not normal. Protesters are being abducted and thrown into unmarked cars. Don’t normalize it. Use words that are equal to the weight of the situation in your reporting. This is an atrocious obstruction of the freedom of assembly.
BREAKING: We're receiving reports that at least one protester was abducted off the streets today by unmarked “officers” — this time in New York City.
These dangerous, abusive, and indefensible actions must stop. Law enforcement must be held accountable.
from personal experience, its a slippery slope.
ain’t sayin Dawn meant anything malicious, in fact I think it’s safe to say the opposite. context is important. it’s Easter Sunday.
But from a different coach’s mouth, or if that phrase is flipped the other way… we got PROBLEMS.

Really proud of this one. See the rest at the link in my bio.
these dudes only respect the sanctity of the game if it’s men
they just want the W to put on a good show with simple storylines so their fave talking heads can copy + paste into their shows 🤷🏽♀️

never in my whole life have i heard people sincerely suggest that professional athletes should let a rookie win on purpose… where was this energy with wemby??
Hip-hop has many moods, and while alot of people may think of the dark, gritty side as hip-hop's default, the genre was born from party energy.
For Day 13 of
#31DaysOfHipHop50
, name a favorite party track.
Sabrina showed some flashes of brilliance today.
And let’s keep it a hundred, 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists is a pretty darn good debut, especially when her shot wasn’t falling from three.
Wait until she gets hot 🥵
Continue to find the best for our student-athletes👇
Would like to welcome
@mishthejrnalist
to the program! Misha Jones is a former D1 player that truly believes in skill development! Loves the game & will bring so much passion to our players! Will be helping w/ our 3SSB teams.
Tomorrow, stay tuned for a project I’ve been working on...
Hint: Recently, there was a spike in Google searches for Martin Luther King Jr. quotes about protesting.
these sound mad simple but they're intangibles that hold hella value. they're marks of a player who cares more about the MISSION than individual accolades. And THAT is a mark of the greats.
So confident in her ability to bounce back and learn from every loss. Just the beginning.
so I stand corrected: it’s not a double handoff, it’s a pin down ➡️ double handoff ➡️ ball screen.
here’s an example: Tiff can’t get the layup to go here but I love the idea of getting her going full speed downhill
We’re just...tired. We’ve seen the same things happen to our ancestors. And if you would like to debate the facts of these statements, google is free.
But we will keep going. Keep writing. Keep reporting. Because we have no choice. We move or we die.
feels like a good time to say… i wanna see more masc women/non-binary folks in these WBB broadcast roles. there are so many of us who play the game, I’d love to see us represented on camera 😊
