We’re proud to announce the launch of The Mallett Family Foundation. We think that one of the best ways to honor Ryan and his legacy is to continue to pursue the things he took so much pride in. Helping kids get to the next level, not only in sports, but in life.
Well... now
@tatis_jr
has apologized more than any Astros player has... baseball can be a little ridiculous at times. Keep playing your game big guy... players like you are not only the future, but the now. Love your game.
I can’t stand this kind of thing. Just let the kids play. No missed call when you’re 9 is going to affect your future in baseball, but watching your parent act a fool will change what you think is correct behavior.
Ok... let me get this straight. MLB will punish players who throw at Astros players for cheating, but refuse to punish players for cheating. Got it. I believe we’ve got this bass akwards here.
So many current and ex players tweeting about Barry Bonds being a Hall of Famer. It’s recognized within the game. He had 494 HR and 1,405 RBI prior to the year 2000, which is when he supposedly began using PEDs. You can’t tell the story of baseball without Barry Bonds.
I lost my best friend today. Someone who has stuck by my side since we were just kids. The most competitive, hard headed, fun loving person I ever met. Nothing prepares you for this. I was lucky to have him for as long as I did. Rest in Love One-Five. We love you.
Bud Selig: Commissioner of MLB during steroid era, didn’t implement PED testing until 2004 - Hall of Famer.
Barry Bonds: used PED’s during the steroid era, never failed a test once MLB implemented testing. Most feared hitter of all time - NOT a Hall of Famer. 🤔
Everyone mad that Stro made sure he got his service time before opting out needs to realize that teams do this to players all the time. Waiting to call kids up... sending them down, to get an extra year of control/avoid arbitration. It’s a business. Period.
If you ever see a player who’s bat looks like this, it means they’re alllll the way locked in. Hasn’t broken a bat in a long time and they don’t want to use a different bat bc they’re raking with this one.
Rest In Peace, Jerry Remy. What a special person you were to not only me, but to Jenny as well. I can recall nights on the road when I would be struggling at the plate and RemDog would come to my hotel room for a glass of wine and to talk ball. One of a kind. We’ll miss you. ♥️⚾️
If MLB has such an issue with length of game then why are they ok with nationally broadcasted games having an extra 40 seconds of commercial time every half inning?
Players sitting out games isn’t to boycott the league... it’s to take themselves out of the limelight and allow people to focus on the issues in our country. Sports gives people a reason to ignore it and this cannot be ignored any longer.
Bumgarner said “Take your F’in time” to the umpire and got tossed. 😂 Watch the umpire not even look at his hands and just stare at MadBum… he knew exactly what he was doing. Bellino has always been a hardo. He was mad bc Bumgarner was arguing balls and strikes. This is tired.
If a manager asks an umpire to check a pitcher mid inning and they find nothing, it should be treated as a challenge. If you’re wrong, you no longer have any challenges. Fair? I think so.
I love baseball. But, shortening the game time by 15 minutes won’t save the sport from dying. If you didn’t like it at 3:10 you won’t like it at 2:55. How long will we pretend that today’s technology (phones, iPads) aren’t playing into the youth’s need of constant stimulation?
I know a lot of you will say he’s just making excuses. That’s not the case here. This is real and it’s a problem. Until we get a commissioner that has actually played the game, the decisions will continue to be political and out of touch with practical ways to improve the game.
April 15, 2013. A day many of us will never forget. That day, the Sox and the city of Boston became one. A team picked to finish last in the AL East went on to win it all. That season taught me the power of determination and perseverance can overcome anything.
#BostonStrong
I’m coming home! The Red Sox and the city of Boston have always meant everything to me. Excited for the opportunity to be a part of this amazing organization again.
You know what… that’s it. I’m flying to Boston on Monday. I want to support this team in person. And… what a better day? Marathon Monday, right? Let’s goooo!
Boston. They drafted me as an 18 year old, developed me, and believed in me.I spent 7 years in the organization, 3 of those in the big leagues. Won a World Series. Met my wife there. Yea... that’s an easy one.
@middlebrooks
I have a weird question I just thought of. Do you hold any team you played for more fondly than others? If so, is one team your favorite based on last team played for, highest level achieved, or another reason?
I know people will take the angle of “Machado is a bad teammate”…but you couldn’t be more wrong here. This was a leadership move. Let’s not forget FTJ is still 22. A phenomenal player, but still a lot to learn. Tatis can’t get tossed in the 5th inning of a game they need to win.
Fenway is the best place in sports for a playoff game. These fans just don’t let up. From the first pitch until the last out that place is rockin’. Love the passion. Can’t wait to see it, hear it, and feel it in person tmrw night!
Really disappointed with all the responses and hate I’ve gotten today... I’m not surprised one bit... maybe I have a little too much faith in people. I just want this world to be better place for my daughters to grow up in.
I got to go on the field pregame with the
@Patriots
a couple days after we won a World Series in 2013. Special memories with Mallett. Moments we always envisioned when we were kids running around the backyard. We lived out our dreams and were lucky enough to do it together.
This is comical. The juice must only work against left handed pitching. He has a 1.231 OPS vs LHP… vs Righties, just .627 … You really think he would take something NOW, at this point, and ruin everything just to get to 700? Why can’t we just enjoy what we’re watching?
The amount of people that just don’t get it, is sickening. This isn’t about one incident. This is about terminating the normalization of racism in our country... it’s about seeing someone that doesn’t look like you and you not viewing them as less of a human being.
Baseball’s funny. Both the Red Sox and the Reds are 34-35. One team we think of as a disappointment and considering being sellers at the deadline. The other is now “firing on all cylinders”, “America’s Team”, and just a game out of the division lead. The tale of two divisions.
So, let me get this right. Games are VERY expensive to take your family to. Which is another issue within our game. But, that being said, you want to spend less time at the stadium? I remember praying for extra innings and that was long before it cost this much to go to a game.
They drafted me as an 18 year old. I was in the organization for 7 years. Made my MLB debut with them. Won a World Series with them. Met my wife there. It’s ok for Boston to be important to me.
Dustin Pedroia played with more heart and grit than most of the league combined. He led by example every single day... A true grinder. I consider myself lucky to have played alongside him. Here’s to the next chapter, buddy. You did it the right way.
Just so you guys know… The league could lift the lockout and everything could still start on time. Bargaining could continue with spring training and the regular season underway. No agreement doesn’t mean no baseball. A lockout means no baseball. MLB fears a Union strike.
I absolutely love everything about these Boston Marathon Jerseys! Thinking back to my time in Boston and what happened at the finish line in 2013. These represent the strength and perseverance of a city that came together during one of it’s toughest times.
#BostonStrong
Show me the failed tests. There was rumor of one in 2003. He played another 13 years after that and never got popped. And when I tell you he was tested more than the rest of us, I’m telling the truth. He was under the microscope. Never failed. He’s a hall of famer.
It’s mind blowing when you realize Ohtani is doing what Judge did last season and he’s also got a 3.50 ERA with 139 K’s in 105 IP. Some things just don’t make sense.
Look, the Sox couldn’t match that. I love Bogie, but 11 years for a 30 year old SS is absurd. A deal should have gotten done last spring and this would have never happened. Now, use that Xander money to sign Dansby Swanson. There’s still a path to success in Boston.
On this date: 9/8/13
@middlebrooks
hits a solo home run off
#Yankees
legend, Mariano Rivera to tie the game at 3 in the 9th inning.
Middlebrooks was the last player to homer off the future hall-of-famer.
#RedSox
One of the coolest moments I’ve ever been a part of... I was on 3rd base for this. Then watching
@davidortiz
take a curtain call right in front of me for the best fans in baseball. I might watch this every day during this quarantine. Wow
What a heavy day from start to finish. So many different emotions from the second I walked into the ballpark to when I walked back to the hotel this evening. Today was an enormous reminder why my family and I love Boston and the Red Sox family.
Really hoping for a special game from Rich Hill. Not just for the Sox, but for him and his family. Rich lost his father on Friday. His father ran the Boston Marathon 37 times!
Love the shape of the Red Sox bullpen. Joely Rodriguez, Chris Martin, and now a CLOSER in Kenley Jansen. 79 saves in the last two seasons, and he’s a winner. You know who’s really good friends with Kenley? Xander Bogaerts. Let’s go! Get it done. He’s our captain.
Justin Turner is the definition of what it means to be a Boston Red Sox. Play hard.. at all costs. Embrace the city and what the game means to them. Impact the city with the platform you have as a Sox player. Set the example day in and day out when you put that uniform on. 🫡
I’ll DM you. Wanna hear a funny story about this card? That’s in Toronto... I never played there when I was with The Padres.. they took a pic of me from 2014 with the Red Sox and edited the uni. 😂
Ohtani should make his decision like high school, 5 star, QB. Sitting at a table with 5 hats in front of him… picks one up, pretends to put it on… tosses it aside and then picks the winner.
I’ve noticed around the league, not just in Boston, there are a lot of errors that go in the book as hits. Makes you wonder if the league office wants more hits to pad batting average so they can say how much the new rules worked.
