Realized today that reading books is actually a compounding practice. Every book you read sharply increases the number of pairwise connections across books that you are able to make, birthday paradox style. Important to read across many different domains to capture this upside.

Hackathons always make me realize how much of a comparative advantage full stack engineers have on execution time over their half-stack peers (myself included, lately). Being able to own the full feature loop is huge, and something we tend to lose in medium-big companies.

My mom recently told me how when she emigrated from the Soviet Union, she was parting with her family (mom, sister, neices, etc) as if she was never going to see them again, because no one knew if they would be able to get out. The final goodbye felt like her own funeral!

Unique problem from working on @CoinbasePro - I will frequently open up the site, see an -8k candle on BTC-USD and experience panic until I realize I'm looking at dev and not prod. I've once seen a 10k candle and freaked out like 3 people sitting around me 😅

Tel Aviv makes me long for what SFs last-mile transportation could have been. Sure, it's messy (scooters parked everywhere, some ride on sidewalks) but there are proposed solutions (designated scooter parking, new fines) and people are just so *mobile* (and not just the youth)

After dinner with 2 Israelis when the bill came we had the requisite argument over who pays (we lost). They then had a second argument (in Hebrew) while the waiter was there. We tried to slip him our card but he wouldn't even take it - even the waiters are on their side 😔
