Yesterday, the Michigan House voted to repeal the 1931 criminal abortion ban. The people of Michigan made it clear that they support access to safe and legal abortion, and I was proud to sponsor this repeal.

The SNL skit was amusing, I guess, but last night my caucus was trying to figure out how to keep those on that committee safe from the deluge of death threats they’re receiving. I’m sorry to be a bummer and I’m glad people enjoyed the skit, but the reality of it is heinous.

Everyone has the right to protest, but to be clear: Lansing is empty. We are almost entirely working remotely. All Operation Gridlock is accomplishing is blocking traffic for essential workers and first responders in the middle of a pandemic. This is silly and irresponsible.

Prop 3 has passed in Michigan. Abortion will remain safe and legal because of countless hours activists and volunteers poured into the cause. I’m so grateful for them and for everyone who showed up. Abortion is healthcare, and here in Michigan we’ve made sure it stays that way.

To the white people who took part in vandalism in Detroit last night after the peaceful protest was over: YOU are part of the problem. We need to be allies right now, not co-opt demonstrations to exacerbate the issue. The black community faces the consequences, not you. Stop it.

Trauma is not a pre-requisite for bodily autonomy. When we focus on stories of rape or incest, we’re elevating the theory that abortion should be reserved for special, horrific circumstances. It should not. It should be available and safe for everyone, regardless of their reason.

Is it even 2020 if you aren’t eating a Crunchwrap Supreme and crying along to “epiphany” by Taylor Swift in your car?

One of these days, the MI political bubble will quit being overly deferential to and enamored by an anonymous, out of state Twitter account that has consistently tweeted out information that was mostly based on vibes with no real factual foundation. Not today though, apparently.

The fact that as soon as I got elected, people began asking me what I was planning on running for next is just one reason term limits are incredibly problematic. Ensuring fair elections and ending gerrymandering create better elected officials, not implementing term limits.

I applaud @GovWhitmer for revoking the easement allowing for the operation of Line 5. Time and time again, Enbridge has demonstrated that it poses a danger to Michigan’s natural resources. This is a crucial step in safeguarding our Great Lakes.

What a night, Livonia! Our win, along with the many other outstanding victories for Democrats throughout Michigan last night, means that the people of this state have a genuine chance to influence the agenda. Thank you all so much. I won’t let you down.

It’s really difficult to know how to react when a school shooting happens this close to home. Now is a time for mourning, but I can’t deny that it’s deeply painful to know we’ve spent years working for common sense gun reform in MI and the Majority refuses to take action.

The Michigan House is ready to clean up the books and repeal the 1931 abortion ban. Abortion is health care, full stop, and no one should feel afraid to access it because of vague laws.

And it's not just about voting, it's about voting for people who will fight for the things you care about. Joe Manchin has a D next to his name and is as useless as the letter G in the word lasagna. Yes, vote. But know who you're voting for... 7/

Once again, MI already has a voter ID law on the books. And again, asking people to send in copies of their licenses or portions of their SSN to obtain an absentee ballot puts them at risk, needlessly, for identity theft.

This is disgustingly racist and anyone in her party that recognizes that needs to call her on it.

I’m marrying Halsey. See? Like most very important things, running for president involves filing official documents and following protocols. Just because you tell Twitter you’re doing it doesn’t make it so, no matter what Kanye says.

🏳️‍🌈BIG NEWS🏳️‍🌈 For the first time, the MI House passed a resolution designating June 2021 as Pride Month in MI. Huge thank you to Rep. Sneller for introducing it, and an incredible amount of gratitude to @JeremyAllenMoss and @JonHoadley for their years of work on this.

One thing is for sure: no matter what happens tonight, Gen Z has made it clear that they are a force to be reckoned with and elected officials would do well to keep that in mind.

The scene at Brody Hall at Michigan State University. The line to vote has been down the hallway since noon. In the last few hours the line has moved out the door. Students near the front of the line to vote say they've been there for 3 hours.

Every day, she hears from people who think my colleagues and I should be killed. Every day, she recognizes that her workplace is getting less and less safe for her. We have a policy right now that no one other than me is allowed in the office unless there is an emergency. (2/5)

Ok, I have time… You and your husband have enabled multiple treasonous insurrections and shouldn’t be welcomed in polite company anywhere in this state. My masked photo is from me taking my oath of office, which I took seriously, unlike your husband. You, too, can have a seat.

Hey little miss masked, no one is listening to you. Which is a good thing for you because you’re telling a one legged man to “sit down”. Bad form for proponent of “kindness”.

Recently, many have said that the country has never enacted policies like the ones we're currently seeing regarding social distancing and the restriction of businesses. Forgive my microbiology geekery here, but that is patently false. Buckle up folks, here's a thread for you: 1/7
