A floral display has been created at Lagan Valley Island by our talented Parks team in recognition of Mayor Givan's chosen charity Air Ambulance Northern Ireland.
During his mayoral term he has been raising money for this very worthwhile charity.

This evening the council commemorated the lives of six soldiers murdered in 1988 after participating in the Lisburn Half Marathon. Mayor Trimble laid a wreath in memory of the lost soldiers at the memorial plaque.
Tonight we hosted the annual service for the six soldiers murdered in 1988 during the Lisburn Half Marathon.
Mayor Martin was joined in Market Place by Major Montgomery, Royal British Legion representatives and councillors.

Local resident Curtis loved the opp to join his dad Michael on a bike ride today at the Lough Moss Disability Hub. They will definitely be back to use the wheelchair friendly bike. It is great to know people of all abilities can enjoy our local green spaces 2gether as a family.
Pedestrian Access Now Open to Local Parks
The council will open some of its parks from 9am on Tues 21st April. When open daily from 9am to 9pm the parks will operate a one-way system that everyone should adhere to.

Thank you to everyone who came to the opening of our Garden of Reflection yesterday. The garden, located in the Princess Diana Garden at Lagan Valley Island, provides a quiet space for relatives of those babies and children who are sadly no longer with us.

The Blaris Greenway, a 1.4km walking & cycling, traffic-free path was officially opened today by Minister Nichola Mallon linking both Sprucefield Retail Park and the Sprucefield P&R to Lisburn and onwards to Belfast City Centre via Union Locks and the Lagan Towpath.
Following the sad news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Unite the Union has agreed to the request from Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council to postpone strike action with immediate effect.

Today is the funeral of Mrs Joan Christie, CVO, OBE. She was a former Lord Lieutenant of County Antrim and Freeman of the City of Lisburn & Castlereagh. As a mark of respect, the Union Flag at Lagan Valley Island will be flown at half-mast.

Planning permission was granted this week for the £4 million Haslem Hotel, which is to open in Lisburn Square later this year. The Council welcomes this investment by Beannchor Group that will create 75 new jobs. More at
