Words can't embody the 20 years of work our fund has been a part of in Texas—the thousands of voices we've heard on our hotline. We are in shambles thinking of SB 8 going into effect. We've seen SO much injustice over the last two decades, but we've never seen anything like this.
Reminder that Texas is not in need of “underground” abortion networks. We have abortion funds and infrastructure in place to help Texans and they’re not underground. Please amplify the work Texans have already been doing. You can donate to our fund here:
We knew this was coming. We didn’t need a leaked draft opinion to tell us the future. But what we *do* need is for everyone to show up for people seeking abortion care RIGHT NOW.
Friendly reminder that comments like, "I'm soooo glad I don't live in Texas" are not helpful & perpetuate stigma around Texans and those of us who dedicate our lives to making it a better place to live for our communities. Instead, uplift resources & invest in the work.
Our message to everyone who may need an abortion in Texas is this: Abortion funds are here to affirm that no matter what barriers you are facing, you have the right to access abortion and we will keep fighting for you.
While we are heartbroken by this
#SCOTUS
news, we will not close our hotline, which will remain open to provide information to Texans. Repeat: WE ARE KEEPING OUR HOTLINE OPEN.
We will NEVER have to hand over the private data of our clients, staff, volunteers, and donors to anti-abortion creeps. And we’ll go to court to prove it.
We’re in a fresh new hell, y’all.
If you know nothing else about what happened in the Valley this weekend, know this.
Local organizers got her out of jail.
Show them some love.

Roe is floor but so is being able to say the word “abortion” without shame or stigma. We deserve so much more at every corner of this fight. So so much more.
There are 11 abortion funds in Texas because
💜 Our state is huge
💜 It was already super hard to get an abortion in this place even before the ban
💜 We go hard for each other around here okay
We're so excited to announce that the City of Austin just approved the new budget that includes $150K for practical support for abortion access! We did it, y'all!

🚨 BREAKING: Moments ago, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed into law Senate Bill 8, an extreme anti-abortion bill that bans abortion before most even people know they're pregnant with no exceptions.
➡️ BUT ABORTION IS STILL LEGAL IN TEXAS ⬅️
We will NEVER have to hand over the private data of our clients, staff, volunteers, and donors to anti-abortion creeps. And we’ll go to court to prove it.
We’re in a fresh new hell, y’all.
This is a dark day for Texans. Our hearts break for everyone who will wake up Wednesday morning unable to access the essential, time-sensitive healthcare they need.
We can't take photos in this court room but we want y'all to know this.
Our side of the room is completely packed and we are all wearing orange sitting behind our attorneys filling this place with good vibes.
Zero people are sitting on the other side of the room. 🙃

Everybody loves somebody who had at least one abortion.
And if you don’t think this applies to you, it probably just means people in your life just don’t feel safe talking with *you* about it.
Last night the
#txlege
passed a bill that BANS medication abortion, which is EXTREMELY SAFE at just 7 weeks.
This was a political move by Abbott and the
#txlege
to attack the Biden administration and legislate over what people can do with their bodies.
Many of us doing this work are people of color & have had abortions. This law is racist & stigmatizing. It tells us that we are not worthy of safe care in our home state. That we aren't worthy of compassion and protection. Our bodies aren't welcome here. It's violence.
We're holding on to the last shred of hope we have in us that tonight SCOTUS will shock us all. It's hard to communicate the chaos of what we've been going through in anticipation of this dangerous law. There is trauma here.
An out-of-state lawyer served us + other Texas abortion funds + an abortion provider with a demand to turn over the private info of thousands of people.
Late yesterday, our attorneys filed a protective order so we won’t have to. Here’s what you need to know.
It is now after midnight central time and there has been no ruling from the Supreme Court on the Texas law that bans abortions after six weeks of pregnancy. That means the law has officially taken effect. An emergency request to block the law remains pending at SCOTUS.
🙏🏼 Abortion is still a blessing.
🙏🏽 Abortion is still a blessing.

. We cannot let this happen.
There is a knee-jerk reaction inside of us telling us to immediately prepare for what’s ahead of us politically. But if
#RBG
’s long legacy of persistence and endurance taught us anything, it’s that we must pace ourselves. Tonight, we grieve and rest. The fight is forthcoming.
We did it! 🎉 This morning, the Austin City Council unanimously approved the new City budget including $250,000 in funding for logistical and practical support for Austinites seeking abortion care!
#FundCareNotCops
Texans shouldn't be required to show proof of vaccination & reveal private health information just to go about their daily lives.
I issued an Executive Order that prohibits government-mandated vaccine passports in Texas.
Don't tread on our personal freedoms.
Today marks 43 years since the death of Rosie Jimenez. Rosie was a 27-year-old Chicana mother from the Rio Grande Valley who died because Medicaid would not cover her abortion care. 🌹
And above all else here's what you should know: we are never going to stop fighting. As the oldest fund in Texas, we've been fighting for more than 20 years. It's what we're made of. We fight back w community in the streets, at the local and state level, and in the courts.
Here bright and early to fight

in court. Yes, again.
Today a judge will hear us make our case that

is unconstitutional❗️All the hearings you’ve heard about until now only dealt with who can sue.
Texans finally get our day in court after 71 days of

Dear reporters: stop calling

the "heartbeat bill." That's scientifically inaccurate language and if you care at all about fact-checking your work, start with your headlines. Repeating blatant anti-abortion propaganda for clicks is never going to make you seem objective.
Just a reminder as we await a SCOTUS decision on this abortion ban…
We haven’t had our day in court.
There have been no hearings yet.
Our rights and dignity, and the lives of millions of Texans are hanging on procedure.
Quick reminder: TERFs aren’t welcome here. Don’t at us w this mess. We cant achieve
#reprojustice
w/o affirming—& fighting for—the rights, dignity, & liberation of trans & gnc people. We proudly support trans people on our hotlines. Needing an abortion does not indicate gender.
What’s happening in Texas is a reproductive justice crisis. Millions of Texas families are doing their best to survive without basic human rights like electricity, water, and/or housing in freezing cold temperatures.
One of the best ways to show up for us right now is to become a sustaining donor so we can count on your support no matter what comes next, month after month: 👉🏽.
As the Texas "Trigger" Abortion Ban officially takes effect today it doesn't change much about what's already been happening on the ground for months. It doesn't make this any less devastating today and our hearts are broken for Texans seeking care.
📢 Today Lilith Fund &
@TEAFund
announced our state and federal lawsuits against two private individuals in Texas and two organizations based outside the state seeking to enforce

, which has been in place for more than six months. Read our release below:
A new analysis from Johns Hopkins found that Texas saw close to 10,000 additional live births over a nine-month period after implementing its abortion ban at around six weeks of pregnancy.
Just thinking about that time Ken Paxton jumped in a getaway car to avoid being subpoenaed by Texas abortion funds.
He threatened us on TV but didn’t want to repeat it in front of a judge. 🤡
So he jumped in a car to avoid a process server.

The Texans who will be most harmed by this ban are low-income people of color—the majority of whom are parents caring for their children. We all deserve better.
