On this day, 10 years ago, Minecraft 1.7.2 - The Update that Changed the World released! This update added many new biomes, new generated structures, new flowers, stained glass, better networking, new commands, and more!
Mojang hosts an annual mob vote that lets players choose the next creature it adds to Minecraft.
Recently, though, players have grown unhappy with the tradition, and this year they've taken to "unionizing" to express their disappointment.
On this day, 10 years ago, Minecraft 1.5 - Redstone Update released! This update added new redstone-related blocks, the decorative quartz blocks, a scoreboard system, a new texture pack system, lighting engine optimizations, and more!
Guys… try to stay calm… it’s gonna be difficult though…
BECAUSE THERE ARE NEW ZETTERSTRAND PAINTINGS, 15 OF THEM FOR A TOTAL OF TWENTY NEW PAINTINGS IN TRICKY TRIALS
I dread the day Mojang decides to cater to the crowd that demands new content simply for the sake of new content.
We’d lose Minecraft as we know it. From updates that add meaningful and interesting things to a bloat update every year that focuses mainly on quantity
Keep in mind these screens are likely to be seen for little time, also you get a preview of the screen through the Nether portal animation when standing in a portal and the End portal block texture
This mod is insane... 32 chunk render distance with no noticeable FPS drops....
If you have an NVIDIA GPU (1630+), check out the Nvidium mod to enjoy ultimate performance:
If Minecraft 1.21 follows a very similar development process to 1.20, here’s what we can expect regarding the timeline for this update:
- Announced 1.21 features arrive in snapshots & previews as experimental features in 1-2 weeks
Minecraft is in a much better state in terms of development than it was a few years ago. Sure major updates have been smaller but the other stuff, the bug fixes, the QOL, the technical features, all those have been HUGE and coming out so quickly and are really improving the game
You learn something new in Minecraft every day. Today I discovered that flowing water can in fact go through some blocks (in Bedrock Edition only). Thought this was completely scrapped after initially showing it for Update Aquatic. Guess not!

Yknow for that “mojang is a billion dollar company and they can’t do shit” argument, I actually kind of agree, but not for the developers. The developers themselves are obviously not billionaires and so management/executives need to step it up ngl
On this day, 10 years ago, Minecraft 1.6.1 - Horse Update released! This update added horses, leads, blocks of coal, carpets, new commands, a resource pack system, a new game launcher, and more!
Just found this image on for redeeming a code for a Caves & Cliffs character creator item. I have a theory that this was originally the artwork for the full Caves & Cliffs update before it was split into 2 parts.
Minecraft: Bedrock Edition owners will get Minecraft: Java Edition and Minecraft: Java Edition owners will get Minecraft: Bedrock Edition for free, plus buying Minecraft on PC will now automatically give you both games, starting June 7
Interesting, the grate block acts like glass where it doesn't render the sides through itself, but that behavior is only for blocks with the same oxidation level. You can interestingly counter this though with other oxidation level blocks!
@kingbdogz
Every distinct block and item should be in the Creative inventory imo. Even technical blocks, like command blocks and structure blocks (they could have their own tab to separate them from other blocks
@unnderbar
- Learn to fly
- Using various commands
- Find technical blocks and learn how to use them (command blocks, structure blocks, etc.)
- Kill yourself in Creative mode (lol)
Basically advancements that help you learn how to do various things that you can with Creative mode
It's official, a new Minecraft cape is coming soon to players who owned both Bedrock and Java Editions before the two editions came together into a single purchase!
@lunaStellarii
sigh a lot of people misreading this as an official statement, this is a developer's personal blog. it's probably going to be inconsistent, just like a normal human's thoughts are. He even prefaces the blog with this
@kingbdogz
There are many things but one thing that really confuses me is why woodland mansions have to be placed sooooo far away from spawn most of the time. They’re not even that important anymore and are just so tedious and annoying to get to.
@Zetterstrand
You're amazing! Thank you for these incredible paintings that have created so many awesome memories and sparked so much inspiration within Minecraft worlds! I hope you're proud :)
VERY IMPORTANT. Whether you like this change or not, the reality is this: If you have a Mojang account that has not been migrated yet, if you do not migrate by September 19, 2023 (11AM EST), you will lose access to your account FOREVER.
I’ve been hearing some people disappointed that the new armor trims have no gameplay benefits and I just wanted to say: did you really expect them to not be cosmetics? The theme of 1.20 is supposed to be self expression and storytelling.
@maxxus2_
Maybe they saw the change related to horse NBT and tested a bunch of scenarios with that, just to make sure the change was implemented properly along with a proper upgrade path
Some people are pretty good at QA!
Content wise 1.20 is quite similar to 1.19. But the way they’ve announced 1.20 is very different to 1.19 and you can see people are more excited for this update than they were for 1.19! Hope Mojang keeps this way of announcing things because it does seem to be working well :)
Just found a HUGE mushroom fields that is ~1100 blocks long (at most) in the X direction and ~900 blocks long (at most) in the Z direction
Minecraft: Java Edition 21w37a
Seed: 3633489407836876705
Coordinates: 1068 69 905
(fully zoomed out map btw)
Honestly if there’s one argument I most wish people would stop making it’s comparing modders with Minecraft developers, it’s so unfair and poor modders don’t deserve that, let them do what they love without using their work as fodder for that argument
While I like the new advancements added for armadillos, wolves, and 1.21... I can't help but feel advancements are losing their value bit by bit... especially when we get an advancement for something as simple as shearing wolf armor off a wolf.
I've been really happy seeing
@kingbdogz
replying to everyone clarifying about the new vault block, this is the kind of interactions you love to see again 😄
Wish though the announcement video itself could have him explaining all this in detail :P
Just today we got:
- New UI changes
- Item components on Java
- Dyeable wolf armor and buffs for it
- New bogged texture & shearing mechanic
- New vault texture
- Consistent wind charges
- News that Hardcore mode is coming very soon to Bedrock
Loving it all!!!
I love seeing Minecraft concept art too! So many interesting ideas thrown out there, and the concepts are beautifully made.
But yeah it does lead to people thinking concept art will always turn into feature, simply not how the process works (even outside game development)
I'm so annoyed at all the people who complained about Mojang not adding the stuff shown in concept art because it led them to not show concepts at all anymore
And I miss seeing this part of the development process, I would've loved to see the art for the crab or the penguin
The Armored Paws Drop.
Bad news: It took Mojang 10 months to add a bunch of animals???
Good news: It will take Mojang 1 month to add a new structure, new decorative blocks, an auto-crafter, a new weapon, new items, new paintings, new trims, new potions, and new mobs? :O
@AdamRHannan
@ibxtoycat
Also did work on the feature where you get raw ore items from iron ore and gold ore blocks after 1.17, allowing Fortune to affect them (and doesn’t make you get different ore blocks for stone j deepslate ores) which I still find to be an amazing change :D
New in the Minecraft Launcher Beta: a Realms tab for both Bedrock and Java editions! These tabs give you some general information about Realms and, most importantly, will allow you to view all your owned and joinable Realms and even PLAY them, directly from the launcher!
@vivispook
What happens when Mojang employees work 31 minutes a week instead of 30
Can we get to 32 a day by the end of the year??
(btw this is a joke)
It's not you vs. the developers over how Minecraft gets changed. It's you AND the developers. So just take that into consideration when you respond to devs and give your feedback on things.
Adding 7 new default skins is one of the weirdest announcements from Minecraft live, just a reminder Minecraft Xbox 360 launched in 2012 with 8, they chose to make them non default in 2017
@kingbdogz
@KaijuSensei1
Heard an idea recently about having some way to let your tools not break fully once they use up all their durability... like how the elytra works :)
Would be a pretty powerful buff to add to your items and would be very sought after I think
Hello! Swift Sneak is a cool enchantment, but it's current iteration is severely limited due to it being incompatible with the Depth Strider, Frost Walker, and Soul Speed enchantments. How about this idea? (not mine btw) Please upvote if you like it :)
Having an surface entry to trial chambers is impossible to do btw. Abd its burrys functions fault. Any surface entry that could be made would result in it being swallowed by terrain and forming an huge misshaped terrain mass on the surface
I saw some discussion about how if we might not have gotten wolf variants if players didn't vote for the armadillo.
Let me also bring up... WE WOULDN'T HAVE GOTTEN OVERHAULED TERRAIN IF IT WEREN'T FOR THE MOUNTAINS WINNING
@kingbdogz
Also, iron golems. They are just so terrible at actually providing protection. I have 4-5 iron golems in my village and still have villagers dying from occasional zombie attacks. Also their cracking and repairing mechanic isn’t even on Bedrock so that’s worse
If 1.21 adds a new biome, I really would love a new cave biome. I know more cave biomes were on the community's wish-list during the development of Caves & Cliffs
@kingbdogz
Any plans to add the quick-swapping armor functionality in the hand from Bedrock though? :) (where you can switch between different armor items in your hand instead of requiring that the armor slot be empty)
