Proud to announce I have a book deal with
@TriumphBooks
on BU's national title. Will be on sale online & in major book stores in 2 weeks:
My book, which features untold stories and profiles of major players, is a must-read or purchase for any Baylor fan!
I went to Baylor with Peter. And on the Bachelorette he gives off this image as being some nice, great guy who deeply cares about people and is always in a great mood. But it turns out that's actually all completely true and extremely accurate.
Despite Oklahoma and Texas claiming they're too good for the Big 12, neither will play for a conference title.
Baylor-Oklahoma State at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in Dallas. ABC for the game.
Keyonte George told me postgame, "I'm just blessed to be a part of Baylor. I could have taken the easy route and gone to a blue
blood. I took this route, going to Baylor, staying home. It's starting to become a big name. I love my decision I made, and I wouldn't
change it."
Stop insulting the Big 12 remainders:
Baylor has won a lot lately
KU has hoops
OK State has success in both
TCU has Fort Worth and football
ISU has great fans
Texas Tech
KSU has great football run lately
WVU has Huggy Bear and solid football
"I promise you the next one won't take 71 years," Scott Drew said on March 7, 2021. He was right. One year later Baylor's won back-to-back Big 12 titles.
I’ve had time to think about Baylor not running out the clock vs. OU. I’ve reviewed major philosophical traditions. The world’s great religions. And I’ve asked those I respect the most. I do think Aranda was wrong to kick the field goal. He should have tried to score a touchdown.
Oklahoma is the Big 12's best team. But Texas being crowned the league's second best team is crazy. Baylor ranks better in SP+ and has a massively better defense. Texas could be better, but losing to an SEC team doesn't make you the Big 12's second best; it makes you Texas A&M.
I'm seeing some OU fans try to shift the discussion to football, which is interesting since Baylor has a better football team and its coach did not leave in the middle of the night for Los Angles.
Baylor wins the Big 12! The Bears become the first non-Kansas team to win an outright Big 12 title since 2004.
Baylor wins the school's first conference title since the beginning of the Korean War (1950)!
V.J. Edgecombe commits to Baylor! The 5-star player is the highest ranked recruit headed to the Big 12, and he's Baylor's third straight 5-star guard prospect to commit. Bears beat out Duke and Kentucky for him.
Asked Jairon McVea about his recruiting, he said “nothing official…I exchanged a few emails.” Thank God for email because that’s easily one of the top three plays in Baylor football history.
Baylor's core four of MaCio Teague, Mark Vital, Jared Butler and Davion Mitchell will start their final game together in the Ferrell Center on Sunday. They're 41-4 as a starting unit.
Bob Stoops literally gave Lincoln Riley has kingdom, and Riley proceeded to fire Bob Stoop's brother and then leave the job before he won a single playoff game.
The schadenfreude for Baylor, Oklahoma State and the rest of the Big 12 is unbelievable right now.
James Akinjo either scored or assisted on every bucket in overtime. He was 0-of-7 before OT, but he didn't let that impact him and killed it when it mattered.
Robert, I am too young to have watched Texas A&M's last 9-0 team. But before the Aggies left being 8-4 in the Big 12 to be 8-4 in the SEC, you had one ranked win in 1992, then lost by 25 in the Cotton Bowl. The '92 Aggies are the worst 9-0 ever.
James Akinjo will go through senior day festivities, but he’s adamant he has not made a decision and is still considering returning next season. He said 100% of his focus is on Iowa State.
Using my college basketball ratings algorithm, I simulated the tournament once, using Joe Lunardi's latest bracket. I promise this was completely a random simulation. For the record, in my algorithm, Baylor is ranked
#5
, Iowa
#20
.
Crazy Baylor honored the Big 12 by letting Texas get up by that many in the second half, only to come back and win! A good reminder that money can't buy happiness, national titles or a final victory in the series.
5,500 words on why Biden wins, so if I'm wrong, here's where I went wrong. Feel free to dunk on me. But if you think Trump wins, have the guts to bet me a box combo from Raising Cane's:
On ESPNU they just said the Baylor-Kansas rivalry is taking on the feel of Duke-North Carolina.
For the dozens of us that graduated from both schools, we knew this day was coming!
It's hot as hell here, I've gained 15 pounds over the last month, and I'm exhausted.
But this has been the best month of my life. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Thank you so much to all my readers and everyone for the support.
What a great end to a wonderful journey!
Baylor outscores KU 65-42 after trailing by 13 in the first half. The last time Baylor beat KU by at least eight points at home it won the national championship.
I can't believe Mark Vital and MaCio Teague didn't make the Final Four team. I love analytics, but if you watched the games--and I very much did--that pair just wrecked so much of what Gonzaga wanted to do.
This is why college basketball is a million times better. Wichita State and St. Joe’s can earn a No. 1 seed in that sport. Florida State getting snubbed for an Alabama team that needed a miracle to beat Auburn is ridiculous. An embarrassment that I can’t believe.
Jerome Tang is about to land KSU's top recruit since 2009. Told
@BoscoesBoys
I thought he'd get it turned around once he got his guys, and that's happening quickly.
Baylor hired a law firm to investigate itself and fired its best football coach ever and let every player transfer.
Since then, an independent review has found Baylor implemented all 105 independent recommendations.
Baylor is not bringing back KB or Lebby.
Crazy that in 2014 Baylor just needed one of:
*Florida State loss
*Ohio State loss
*Alabama loss
*Oregon loss
In 2019 Baylor needed each:
*Alabama loss
*Oregon loss
*Utah loss
*Georgia loss
The Bears went 0-for-4 in 2014. They're an LSU win away from going 4-for-4 in 2019.
@Jake_Trotter
Horrible loss to Iowa. Destroyed by Oklahoma too. Penn State and MSU aren't that much better than Bamas opponents. I think it's a very tough decision.
Dave Aranda said a few weeks ago, “We need to know what doesn’t matter…your waffled gets burned, doesn’t matter.” Today Baylor didn’t care it needed seven stops from the goal line to win. It got them.

Matthew Mayer on Adam Flagler, "Bro, I know you're playing point guard, but the best thing you do is shoot...so I told him, 'bro, you might be the best shooter here besides me, so just let 'em rip."
LJ Cryer is not out there for Baylor.
Jeremy Sochan has shaved his head.
James Akinjo is not wearing a headband.
These are the things you can learn pregame.
Jared Butler led the league in win shares, PER and box plus minus. If you watched him play--and consider defense--it's obvious he's the Big 12's best.
I am just baffled by this vote. If you place any value on advanced stats or watching games, it's no contest.
One of the most impressive wins of the season for Baylor. Baylor did not have its best for long stretches of the game, and it found a way to grind out a win. Team has grown a lot in January and will in February too.
Pleasure to cover Baylor this year. Great guys and made one hell of a run. Wished I was heading to Philly to watch the Bears in the Sweet 16, but if you're going to go out, no better way than fighting like that to the end.
Jalen Bridges--given the stakes--played the best regular season game in Baylor history.
Beyond his 32 points, his block of Shedrick in the second half, changed the tenor of the game.
Baylor held Texas to .75 points per possession. The nation's worst offense--team number 350--averages .82 points per possession. That was an ass kicking.
Hysterical that 12 years ago Stanford and Cal didn't want Baylor in the PAC-16, and now those two are going to not be in a power conference while Baylor is.
Surprised the school in Austin that hasn’t won an NCAA Tournament game in over 2,000 days wants to give bulletin board material to the defending Big 12 and national champs, but go nuts!
Texas coach Chris Beard on the Big 12 race: "Baylor is obviously well right now, but to me, the championship goes through Lawrence, Kansas until otherwise said."
Arizona announced today that former Baylor graduate assistant Rem Bakamus is Director of Player Development. Great hire for the Wildcats, given every guard I talked to at Baylor mentioned him, and Davion Mitchell always went on about him helping his shooting and development.
I can’t believe Baylor really had Jared Butler, Davion Mitchell, MaCio Teague and Adam Flagler on the same team. Teague’s defense remains so underrated—and he hit so many big shots—and the other three all get real NBA minutes.
