Whatever anyone’s views on the monarchy, there is no question, that MUSIC made the #Coronation what it was today. Absolutely outstanding, moving, uplifting, serene, spiritual and 100% committed as it is EVERY day. Let’s celebrate our wonderful profession. Bravo to all 👏

Nadia Boulanger was born on this day in 1887. The most formidable woman I’ve ever met. Her group classes were rigorous, disciplined and uncompromising but I’m forever grateful for a 1-1 lesson on a Fauré Barcarolle - she couldn’t have been sweeter.

Happy 39th Birthday to my gorgeous girl! What a wonderful mum she is to our little munchkin and an amazing hardworking district nurse for the NHS doing what needs to be done. Very proud on every day of the week ❤️

Yesterday my lovely Steinway had 10 hours of attention from Ulrich Gerhartz. Well overdue service but how beautiful it sounds this morning. Almost made my cry. Built in the ‘60s we have been together around 30yrs and had a lot of adventures.

Just heard a short excerpt from Schubert’s String Quintet while briefly in the car. That gorgeous second theme in the first movement has one of the greatest 3 note transitions…and then such gentle beauty. For a few moments I went to paradise. @BBCRadio3

Back to the piano after some time out and revisiting the last Prelude and Fugue by Shostakovich. Musical storytelling on such a deep level I find it overwhelming. Entering 2024 all cylinders fired up!
