Defence sources reveal there are 3 ULFA(I) camps active under their Eastern Command: The Arakan Gut or 779, the Nilgiri Gut, and the Everest or Hoyat camp.

Two Myanmar nationals among three apprehended in Mizoram — on charges of carrying 1800 rounds of AK47 amn. The joint op conducted Monday night by Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police in Siaha dist. Both Myanmar nationals (Chin state) were staying at Archung village in Lawngtlai dist.

I lost a friend, my best friend in family - Aai. She was 98 and suffering from elderly health issues. My grandma, Nurchasma Ahmed, was a working lady in her time - a postal worker in Shillong, probably circa 1954. Aai taught me to find freedom, be happy in whatever I do. RIP ♥️

Do remember the sacrifice. Rifleman Avatar Chakma (26) of Assam Rifles immortalized himself in a gunfight with NSCN militants in South Arunachal May 22. He took a bullet to the head. Rfl Chakma hailed from Miao, Changlang. He leaves behind his wife and a 1 year old child. RIP

Lest we forget 30 June, 1999 Saluting Captain Jintu Gogoi of 17 Garhwal Rifles who sacrificed his life this day at the young age of 24. He was posthumously awarded the Vir Chakra.

My cousin in Guwahati tested COVID positive and we pushed her to stay at a Covid Care Centre thinking she would get better care, being diabetic, and timely nutritious meals. It’s past 10AM, and they are still waiting for breakfast at the Royal Global CCC.

They named him Pablo ♥️🐾 The team at Damcherra PS, North Tripura, babysat this puppy for a day. He was found in the boot of a vehicle carrying contraband. The on-duty cops took great care of Pablo before handing him over to the rightful owner. A case has been registered.

I lost my companion of 9 years yesterday... Chronic renal failure, but how he fought! Aslan was a friendly, happy-go-lucky dog who only wanted to play with people, with other dogs. He touched a lot of lives and saw me through everything good and bad. I’ll never get over this...

In 24 hours, Assam’s positivity rate jumps from 4.43% to 6.39% (May 1) with 3,453 confirmed cases and 23 deaths. The state recorded 26 deaths yesterday related to the virus. Kamrup Metropolitan is the worst-affected district.

The biggest challenge for the Army was to get accepted in NE, particularly CI areas. Efforts continue to build confidence and strengthen relationship with the local population. But with Saturday’s incident, it would be now tough to bridge the gap between strategies and results.

Hearing that the tiger straying out of Orang NP into Dhekiajuli has sustained injuries while being chased. Come what may, it should not end up in zoo! The other Orang tiger captured Nov 21 was a healthy male - it died in captivity, and for reasons best known to zoo authorities.

Prayers on your death anniv. My uncle, Prof Abul Lais, left us this day, 2018. Many would agree that his translated classics found a rebirth among Assamese readers - the most talked about being the 1939 Richard Llewellyn novel, How Green Was My Valley, which was also his fav.

Lost a brother today... Manoj Kalita was the kindest person I knew in @News18Northeast . He succumbed to Covid19 after a long battle. Simple, honest and hardworking, Manoj was an angel to many. Gone too soon, too soon. Goodbye dear... You are loved for a lifetime. RIP

July 4, 2017 Arunachal Pradesh During a flood rescue, the team from 115 HU IAF — Wg Cdr Mandeep Singh Dhillon, co-pilot Flt Lt Pramod Singh, and Sgt R Gujjar had evacuated 169 people when they encountered bad weather, and bad luck, in the 6th sortie from Naharlagun to Sagalee.

The Guwahati Circuit House, in all it’s subtlety, looked beautiful. It could have been one of the best preserved Assam-type buildings by the banks of Brahmaputra - a reminder of heritage & history. Modernisation/alterations are necessary, but historic features shouldn’t be lost.

Since early this month, 6 elephants found dead in different parts of Assam — around Raimona NP (Oct 5) and Barnadi WS (Oct 7) in BTAD, Goalpara (Oct 6/7), two found dead in separate incidents (Oct 8) near Dehing Patkai NP and Digboi RF. Did we celebrate wildlife week recently?
