I think it's important to mention again, that in regards to AI and AI datasets, not just artists and their art are affected: Any image can be used for training. Your cosplays, your selfies, your party pics, your vacation shots - they are all just as important for the scrapers

and mostly, at the end: I'm happy that I managed something that does tell its story in several layers of visual storytelling. Especially interacting details. We only came up with all of it because we spend literal weeks. Have fun describing that in any prompt.

@spawning_ @StabilityAI These systems need to be opt-in, not opt-out. We have never given consent for our work to be used in the first place. And many people for one reason or another won't even be able to opt-out, even if it was their wish. This is only half the step. Let's go the rest of the way.

@Aidan_Wolf It doesn't give them any capabilities though. They still can't draw, they still can't paint. All the execution is done by the machine, fully depending on datasets and algorithms. And they depend even more on somebody else giving them tools and access

I learned with videos, pdfs, friends and books I got from my local library. Everything I could get my hands on free or cheap. And tbf, I do have a degree in arts from a German University, but they _don't_ teach art fundamentals. I had to learn those in my free time.

If you care for any image you put online, consider Glazing it, to better protect what is yours. they need images of everything that exists, otherwise the machine can not produce outputs showing that thing if it was asked for.

There are also already systems in place to turn photos of clothed people into fake nudes. Revenge porn and worse are having a field day thanks to AI. So please consider every image you put online. They will figure out how to abuse it if there's no protection at all.

I usually stay out of (art) twitter drama - but it needs to be said: take it as an example why your commissions are worth MORE. I'm just sad to see how many people offer higher quality for much less and are proud of that fact. Please don't undervalue yourself that way

The best I can ask for: have some respect for what it means to learn art making, and for how deeply human it is. You might be able to copy the result, but I don't think that you can replace what art can do on different levels for us.

These tools don't enhance my creativity, they stifle and surpress it, replace it with an algorithmic average. They are limited by what can be put in, they can't pull from the richness that the entirety of my life puts into my art. So - thanks, but no thanks.

@javilopen It does not matter whether it is art or not. This is also not "cancel culture". People continue to point out that the whole techology builds on data taken from creators and people without consent, credit or compensation - including CP, medical data, revenge porn and similar.
