As an artist, I definitely often struggle with the process of making art - feelings of not being good enough, insecurities about people liking the result (which matters more for commercial art than personal art), the reality that there is still I lot I do not know - but:

It is this process that makes it worth it for me. The idea of having an image in your head and just being able to make it real within minutes is of course enticing. There might even be some moments of excitement testing with AI,if the result is not some alien monstrosity

But compared to the high complexity of feelings conjured by finishing a piece of my own, the excitement of some AI creation is quite fleeting. It's not catharsis, it's a lot closer to commodity

Process matters - because it is so close to me as a person, because it forces me to introspect, to think. Outside of technical aspects it is what really brings in the human factor. The history of a person's experience, of happy or heartbreaking moments

Even if the we don't see somebody else's full process, it is what we glimpse in the final image. It's easy to just be blinded by an image being pretty - but I think there's is something more valuable within the connections we can make over shared experiences

I do not wish to gatekeep who can make art and how: but the push to commodify it was already scary as social media algorithms pushed for it, it's not getting better by AI systems abusing the skills we put together across years and centuries.

It's a new situation to have process and result separated this much - I understand that for a viewer, the difference does not even seem to be that large. For an artist, making something great can be an endeavor spanning across weeks, months or even years.

At times we know almost every pixel or inch of our creation. Every little decision on where to put a colour, a shadow, a tiny speckly of light. Learning to make those decisions is not easy.

The best I can ask for: have some respect for what it means to learn art making, and for how deeply human it is. You might be able to copy the result, but I don't think that you can replace what art can do on different levels for us.

I wish I had more eloquent terms for the topic and better ways to express what I think and feel, alas I'm a trained visual artist, not a writer or philosopher. So, I'm sorry if it all stays rather rambly. Reasons I usually don't join any public discourses

@JuliaMetzgerArt I feel insecure too. Like I can't trust in my eyes cause probably everybody sees problems that I don't. Or that I can't comunicate the picture that is on my mind
