The DA’s Blueprint to rescue South Africa within 100 days of taking office:
Fixing the institution of Parliament
Ending loadshedding by embracing privatisation
Outlaw cadre deployment
Introduce the Scorpions 2.0
Introduce a Devolution Bill
Introduce a new budget
Andre De Ruyter is a national hero for having the courage and conviction to stand up against the criminal syndicate that is the ANC national government. I applaud and thank him for showing the bravery we all need to fix South Africa.
No Cabinet Reshuffle
No Emergency Electricity Plan
No SABC Board
No laws being signed
No action on greylisting
No answers on Phala Phala
No loadshedding relief
No Action on allegations of corrupt ministers
No social compact
What does our President actually do in a day?
I can announce that the DA is organising a major protest march to the ANC headquarters at Luthuli House in Johannesburg on 25 January against the ANC-engineered electricity crisis. Stage 6 load shedding has taken away your power. It is time to take away the ANC’s.
Our mission is to unseat the ANC, keep out the EFF, and usher in a multi-party government following the 2024 National and Provincial Elections.
#Charter24
Today I have written to President Ramaphosa to request an urgent meeting with him on South Africa's deepening electricity and
#loadshedding
crisis.
It’s time to put politics aside to help keep the lights on, the rolling blackouts are devastating for millions of South Africans.🇿🇦
This is what the ANC thinks of you. The ANC spends R1.7 billion of taxpayer money to maintain this VIP unit as their own personal army against the people. Register to vote DA today so that we can rescue SA from a government that despises the people.
Julius Malema has resurrected the demon of hatred, division and ethnic violence in South Africa. He is determined to ignite the civil war our country narrowly averted in the 1990s. The DA will not look away. We are confronting this bloodthirsty tyrant head-on.
#StopMalema
Tonight the ANC used their majority in parliament to vote against establishing an ad hoc committee to investigate corruption and the operations of criminal networks and cartels at Eskom. The ANC voted to protect the thugs responsible for collapsing South Africa’s power grid.
Andre de Ruyter blew the whistle on the ANC-created Eskom crisis and was fired with immediate effect only because he verified what South Africans already know to be true: Luthuli House is the scene of the Eskom crime, and Ramaphosa and his cabinet are the perpetrators.
South Africa’s worst police minister in history, Bheki Cele, whose leadership has led to crime statistics worse than those of war torn countries, remains in his position as Minister of Police. A slap in the face to the millions of victims of murder, rape and violent crime.
Devastated to learn of the passing of Minister Jackson Mthembu. Was such an honour to serve alongside this true South African patriot. Condolences to his family and friends and the colleagues in his party. May his soul rest in peace.
Stage 6 load shedding, uncharted territory, devastating for the economy and our country, fatal for growth and jobs. Time for government to level with South Africans about what is actually going on, I’m not buying this wet coal story!
The DA-led Western Cape created 167 000 of the overall 169 000 jobs in South Africa in the last quarter of 2022. Just let that sink in. Voting for the DA in 2024 is no longer about politics - it is about choosing the only realistic option that can save our country.
This judgement will be the first of many that are going to go against the government and their petty, irrational regulations. Let this be the first in a series of lessons for those power drunk autocrats that this is a democracy and NOT a fiefdom and we are citizens NOT subjects!
The DA will not sit back and allow the EFF to threaten businesses, livelihoods and lives. This is both an illegal and nonsensical, demand. Shutting down the economy for a day will only hurt local businesses and communities. We reject the EFF's call for a "nationwide shutdown".
So you can gather in a confined space with 49 other people but you cannot have your haircut, go to the beach, or go to a park or smoke a cigarette? Bizarre....
Eskom’s electricity tariff increase of 18.65% must be rejected. This comes on the back of the ongoing stage 6 loadshedding that costs SA R4 billion a day. This will only worsen the cost of living crisis. I urge the President to meet with me to discuss a way out of this mess.
Today DA-led Cape Town launched a R1,2 billion solar plant project to end load shedding. All while President Ramaphosa and his electricity minister have proposed no solutions to ending this crisis nationally as we teeter on Stage 8. The ANC is all talk while the DA takes action.
On behalf of the DA, I would like to congratulate Dricus “Stillknocks” du Plessis on his historic victory. South Africa is proud of the grit and determination that you showed for five full rounds today.
Nou weet hulle wat ons weet!
It's time to hit the streets SA! We can't sit back and take hyper inflationary increases!
Far too many citizens are barely able to keep their heads above water. This 18% NERSA increase is like a government jackboot pushing more of us under the surface. We’ll announce plans soon.
So let me get this right, you put the whole country out on the streets at the same time for exercise for three hours a day between 6am-9am while the virus is “resting”
President Ramaphosa has acknowledged that his government failed to foresee and prepare for a possible attack on our democracy.
He should have gone further and announced his decision to immediately fire police minister Bheki Cele and intelligence chief Ayanda Dlodlo.
We have now officially entered the twilight zone. Government deciding what clothing you can and cannot buy. Wearing a t-shirt (unless for warmth as an undergarment)is soon going to become a revolutionary act. Time to stop this petty nonsense and get real!
To tweeps celebrating that the President told me to “shut up”, laugh now but take note. It starts with the opposition being told to shut up, it will soon move to the media and pretty soon all will be “shut up”We must always speak up and speak out, it’s how democracy is sustained.
I urge President Ramaphosa to uphold his oath of office and speak out against Julius Malema and his hateful and divisive rhetoric which threatens to destroy the very fabric of South African society. SA belongs to all who live in it, and the President must set a clear example.
Those who find the forced squats and push ups being meted out by the SANDF amusing, just think if this was a member of your family? This isn’t how a professional military conducts itself. History has shown us that it starts with push ups but always ends in a more sinister way...
“They entered the house, took beer from the fridge, poured it over Collins’s clothes, banged the gate against his car, choked him, pushed him and, ultimately, beat him to death with an assault rifle."- Khosa family lawyer.
The South African government has applied for a warrant to arrest Vladimir Putin. This comes in direct response to the DA’s court case to compel the government to comply with the ICC directive to arrest Putin for abducting Ukrainian children. The DA also won costs.
What we see in that
#VIPProtection
assault video, represents exactly what the ANC really thinks of the people of SA. The people are the ones down on the ground. And the ANC are the thugs masquerading as a government, stomping on our neck. It is time to rescue SA from ANC abuse.
President Ramaphosa’s attendance of Emmerson Mnangagwa’s inauguration demonstrates that the ANC is far removed from the plight of the Zimbabwean people under the ZANU-PF’s longstanding autocratic dictatorship. The DA stands with the people of Zimbabwe against ZANU-PF’s regime.
The DA condemns Malema’s calls to “Shoot to kill” and “Kill the Boer.” I declared the EFF political enemy number one of the DA at our Congress precisely because this demagogue will plunge SA into anarchy if he ever gets power. Help us stop Malema by registering to vote DA today.
There will be no race quotas under a DA government. There will be equality of opportunity, where every person can compete freely and equally, and where every company can appoint the best candidates so we can grow our economy. 🇿🇦
Stage 6 load shedding returns to remind us that Ramaphosa’s SONA was a fantasy and presidency is a farce, where the corrupt are protected, the youth are jobless, and endless power cuts destroy the economy. Vote DA to Rescue SA.
In a time of crisis you need clear, unambiguous and firm communication. Instead we have seen more flip-flops than a Haviana factory. Flip-flop on tobacco, flip-flop on e-commerce, flip-flop on schools opening. Welcome to the ANC- African National Confusion!
We have instructed our lawyers to apply to the High Court of South Africa for the interdict against the implementation of the NERSA 18.65% tariff increase, pending the following relief:
I’m with her!
As George Orwell said "During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act."
Ms Mavuso diagnosed the problem perfectly - it is the ANC policies of cadre deployment, state monopoly and corruption that led to the collapse of ESKOM / SOEs.
The ANC's choice to use Covid-19 funding to only support BBEEE compliant companies, at a time of national economic crisis, is unconscionable.
Today I have sent a written petition to the IMF, opposing the use by the SA government of relief funds in a racially discriminatory way.
The DA will join forces with civil society to defeat the race quotas imposed on private companies by the Employment Equity Amendment Act, which Ramaphosa signed into law this week. It is time for all freedom loving citizens to cast aside our differences and unite to save SA. 🇿🇦
Wow, it’s really not THAT hard minister, did you or did you not have “over 2000” submissions in support of your tobacco ban or not? If not why did you lie to the citizens that you did and for what purpose?
🥃Heee Ndaaa! I appreciate all the feedback received from the chillers who watched my interview with
@MacGUnleashed
.
We had an honest conversation about the jobs crisis, racism, land reform, inequality, and other issues that need our attention. 🇿🇦

It’s really important to note the difference between the jackboot way peaceful protestors outside parliament treated to water cannons and batons, while petrol-bombing, property destroying thugs are treated with kid gloves by the SAPS.
We won’t allow Julius Malema to promote mass murder, hatred, and violence.
Today at 11h15, I will be announcing the DA’s urgent action steps to stop the EFF and Malema, holding him accountable for his dangerous remarks.

Your qualifications have obviously equipped you and your journeymen well for rational debate (beating up journalists) and VBS looting. I would rather be degreelesss and honest than qualified and dishonest like you.
Not only is the fake "Mayor" of Tshwane an unrehabilitated insolvent, it also appears he is into forgery. He should be charged and the only chains he should wearing are ones around his wrists. Disgraceful!
Construction of the Medupi and Kusile power stations started in 2007, costing some R460 billion, and neither generate electricity. Appointments based on party affiliation rather than expertise, are how cadre deployment has hollowed out the state. We’re in court to strike it down.
All Ramaphosa is going to do is make more excuses and false "Ramapromises" as he did below. It's time for rolling mass protest action across the length and breadth of the country. The citizens of RSA need to show this government that enough is enough.
Mr President
@CyrilRamaphosa
, South Africans are tired of empty gestures and feeble attempts at placating them. They want to see action from you.
They want to see dirty cadres swap their luxury clothing brands and German SUVs for orange overalls and prison beds - not committees.
In 2015, Ramaphosa promised that load shedding would be over in 18 months. Earlier this year, Mbalula promised it would be over by December. With SA plunged back into stage 6 load shedding, it’s time to vote the liars out. Visit to cut their power.
I reiterate my call for all organisations who want to defeat the ANC and EFF to cease playing petty politics amongst each other. Now is the time for maturity. We must make the Moonshot Pact work, because the alternative is to abandon SA to an ANC-EFF Doomsday.
Every covid death and every job lost to the draconian restrictions announced tonight are on President Ramaphosa now.
He is now forcing citizens to pay the price for his administration’s catastrophic vaccine failures, or “missteps” as he calls them.
There must be accountability!
Amazing how quickly the pettiness and draconian nature of the new regulations announced by NDZ and Patel have evaporated so much buy-in and goodwill from citizens. This will be a turning point unless the President steps up and restores some sanity.
Let me be clear: I have NOT resigned from the
@Our_DA
or Parliament. The Leader of the party appoints the Chief Whip. With Mmusi’s resignation from Parliament my term as Chief Whip ends. I remain a committed and determined member of the party and cause.
#LindiweSisulu
is not fit for Cabinet. In a functional democracy, a member of the Executive who launches a calculated and damaging attack on the integrity of the Judiciary would be summarily fired by the Head of the Executive.
President
@CyrilRamaphosa
, let's see accountability!
I have an idea: the Premier & MEC’s in the Eastern Cape should be forced to trade in their luxury official vehicles and ordered to use these ridiculous scooters as their official transport to get around, they were good enough for the people they are supposed to serve after all?
There is no bravery or compassion to be found in this lockdown.
True bravery and compassion is in the mothers and fathers, the grandmothers and grandfathers, who risk arrest or death to break this lockdown, so that they can feed their families. 🇿🇦
Danko! Thanks to the
@podcastwithmacg
team for a great conversation. I appreciate the tough questions and interrogation, that’s the only way we can build a prosperous SA. 🇿🇦
In case your missed the interview, you can still watch it on YouTube.

Let the ANC hear us today loud and clear. I hereby call on all the people of South Africa to defy the ANC’s race law. I call on companies and workers to defy the ANC’s disgraceful race quotas!
It is unthinkable that any country in this perilous situation should go for almost 3 weeks without a sign of its leader.
The vacuum left by President Ramaphosa has been filled by the petty authoritarianism of the worst of his ministers.
The President must address the nation.
The DA calls on President Ramaphosa to come out of hiding and address the nation on the escalating Lockdown Crisis.
It has now been 19 days since the President last spoke to South Africans. -
@jsteenhuisen
#day47oflockdown
Astonishing. It is also alleged that President Ramaphosa took with a delegation of 126 officials for the trip - Zambia took 12. For what purpose is such a gargantuan team required? How much are South African taxpayers paying for this embarrassing omnishamble?
Standoff in Warsaw: Polish authorities have refused South African security personnel from disembarking from the plane. The team was supposed to provide security for Pres Cyril Ramaphosa during his visit to Eastern Europe.
@News24
Dream on Minister! nobody has stopped smoking, they are just smoking unhealthier, dodgy illicit cigarettes with the inflated revenue going straight into the pockets of the criminal underworld- this is an ideological boondoggle and has nothing to do with epidemiology of Covid.
Min Dlamini-Zuma: it’s “expected that a sizable number” of SAfricans will “stop smoking and remain quit after the lockdown” - as a result of higher prices/restricted access to tobacco caused by cigarette ban.
Poor and youth “particularly likely to quit”
The truth is that life in South Africa today, under President Cyril Ramaphosa, is far worse for everyone than it was even during the lowest point of the Zuma years. The cold, hard truth is that, in the end, Mr Ramaphosa is just another ANC cadre who betrayed our country.
The next two days are not about politics or politicians. They are about the people of South Africa. Our mission at this National Convention is to provide concrete solutions to improve the lives of the South African people.
#NationalConvention2024
The DA can today reveal that the US dollars hidden inside a couch on the Phala Phala farm of President Cyril Ramaphosa were not declared to SARS upon entering South Africa. This confirms that Ramaphosa's dollars entered the country illegally.
Citizens assembling peacefully to protest the shutdown of their livelihoods and loss of their jobs are water-cannoned, stun-grenaded and treated like criminals by the very government that has asked them to sacrifice so much!
What a pathetic figure Pravin Gordhan has become. His attempts to "instruct" Eskom to end stage 6 loadshedding is disingenuous and dishonest. As Minister the buck stops with HIM and he is now going around trying desperately to pass it.
This Shivambu guy doesn’t like: honesty, paying maintenance, declaring benefits to Parliament. He does enjoy pilfering the savings of poor pensioners, assaulting journalists and using family members to front his nefarious activities though....
The
#Level3
restrictions announced by Ramaphosa this evening are only necessary because of his administration’s failure to acquire and secure an adequate supply of vaccines, failure to design and implement an efficient vaccine rollout, and failure to build healthcare capacity.
Yesterday, President Ramaphosa could not answer whether his government had provided weapons of war to Russia because they have done so. Russian money is funding the ANC and the people of SA will pay a heavy price for it. Ramaphosa sold SA’s soul to keep his party afloat.
Government was banning the sale of cooked food, cigarettes and telling citizens what they could wear, while other countries were busy with COVID vaccine plans.
Now Cele is sending the army to the beaches while communities live in fear of real criminals. Priorities are mixed up.
Shame I understand minister, after the absolute walloping you got in the NEC yesterday, and the fact that you are treated like the awkward drunk uncle at Christmas in your structures, you have to take your frustrations out somewhere. I am happy to help you process your pain...
I think that we have a twar in the making here
@jsteenhuisen
about our parties. Let’s see, do you have the support of all in the DA? My sources tell me otherwise. A 3 year post matrix qualification is important they tell me. Next
An opposition Moonshot Pact to defeat the ANC and keep the EFF out can be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for SA. In this quest, I don’t want “big brothers” or “little brothers.” What I want, is for us all to be brothers-in-arms with one mission: to save South Africa. 🇿🇦
South Africa’s greylisting by the FATF is a further indictment on the ANC national government’s failure to deal decisively with financial crime, money laundering, and terrorist activity. Hardly surprising when our sitting President stashes millions of US dollars in his own couch.
Thank you to everyone for the incredible support and messages. I look forward to serving the party that I love and country that I am deeply committed to in this new role as DA Interim Federal Leader.
The DA extends our deep and sincere condolences to the family of Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, who have lost a dear loved one; to his beloved Inkatha Freedom Party and the Zulu Nation, who have lost a great leader; and indeed to all South Africans, who have lost a founding father.
Let me repeat what Mayor Hill-Lewis told Bheki Cele to his face: The ANC and other parties may negotiate with criminals, but the DA won’t!
It is a simple fact that the DA is the only party in South Africa with leaders of this calibre running governments.

#AceMagashule
from the ANC is not enough, Ramaphosa and the ANC must hand over all compelling evidence at their disposal to law enforcement agencies for Ace's corrupt dealings and ensure that he is put behind bars.
Free State residents deserve justice. 🇿🇦
The Leader of the DA, Hon Steenhuisen, must stay in his lane. You have no right to instruct our President to open the economy. That is disrespectful and unwarranted. Please delete your tweet!! Hayibo! Thixo!
President Ramaphosa is now in deep trouble constitutionally and politically. This dismissal of his attempt to set aside the independent Phala Phala enquiry report has been unanimously dismissed by the Constitutional Court.
The DA’s urgent application to the Gauteng High Court has interdicted the EFF from shutting down schools, businesses, trade, and public roads. This is a victory for law-abiding citizens against thuggery and Monday will be business as usual. 🇿🇦
Investors are already fleeing South Africa at the prospect of an ANC/EFF Doomsday Coalition. Our economy will be burnt to ashes under the Coalition of Corruption.
Vote to Rescue Our Economy. Vote DA.
Watch Jacob Zuma taunt the people of South Africa, even wearing an ANC shirt. This is all thanks to Cyril Ramaphosa, who has freed Zuma out of political cowardice.
The President’s failed diplomatic PR stunt, including a delegation of 120 security personnel, has wasted millions in taxpayer money and embarrassed our country on the global stage. All while SA languishes in unending load shedding.
My deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers are with my colleague and opposite number,
@JacksonMthembu_
during this difficult and painful time. May your faith, family and friends sustain you and comfort you and your family Chief Whip.
So a Cash in Transit heist racket was being run from Luthuli House by the very same ANC employee who unduly scored a free farm meant for land reform beneficiaries from the former Land Affairs Minister? Same vrot wine, just in a new bottle!
#Ramareality
So now the President takes a “rain check”on answering questions on food parcel corruption, which he further refers to as a “misdemeanor”. This after promising that Covid-related corruption would be dealt with “harshly” ?
The failed ANC government wants you to pay 18.65% more for electricity. Yet Patricia De Lille’s department spent R1.3 million, in 2021, on generators for Minister’s homes. Let’s reject this disgraceful price increase, join us on the streets on 25 January.

It's funny how these type of comments are always directed at black politicians. Nobody has ever asked how an uneducated John Steenhuisen managed to get a house in Umhlanga, what does he wear or drive? Has anybody ever asked how Natasha Mazzone can afford her lifestyle?
If President Ramaphosa wants to salvage some credibility for government’s response to this COVID-19 crisis, he cannot allow NDZ to evade accountability on the tobacco ban lie. He must fire her.
It appears that Dlamini-Zuma lied to South Africans in her justification for the continued ban on the sale of cigarettes & other tobacco products. If this is indeed the case, then Ramaphosa has no choice but to fire her. -

Its a jolly holiday for Zandile Gumede! on full pay of R1.1 million and remaining a member of the legislature. Rinse, repeat of what happened in ethekwini. Nice work if you can get it!
Johannesburg now has a clueless "placeholder" mayor from Al Jama-ah, a party that got less than 1% of the popular vote, because the Patriotic Alliance, a party that got less than 3%, decided to replace the DA coalition with an ANC-EFF coalition, purely on self-serving grounds.
Yes and every morning unicorns pull the sun into the sky and fairies push it down to bed at night 🙄 can we please get a new Police minister?
