Imposter Syndrome by
@josephknox__
is what all great crime noir should be - sexy, scuzzy, tricksy and compulsive. Absolutely essential stuff, out in July, it'll rejuvenate your jaded crime eyes.
Had a great chat with
@SteveGone58
of
@punk_magazine
— ending a series, falling into True Crime Story, how Imposter Syndrome came about, and way too much detail on what I’ve been listening to lately x
Day two recording the audiobook of Imposter Syndrome — my performance yesterday put us profoundly behind schedule, so I’ll be reading the rest as fast as possible…
Dizzyingly fast paced and sharply written, I consumed this on two very long train journeys! Thank you
@alisonbarrow
for sending me it, and thank you
@josephknox__
for writing it. COMING JULY!

Day two recording the audiobook of Imposter Syndrome — my performance yesterday put us profoundly behind schedule, so I’ll be reading the rest as fast as possible…
I’ll be signing/personalising all pre-orders made through my local indie. Just message - I’m gonna throw in a page or two of early drafts with each one, covered in red ink, for a behind the scenes look at my, erm, ‘process’…
Spent a very enjoyable morning with Truth Truth Lie from
@inkstainsclaire
. Flows so smoothly between characters, secrets, lies, complicated loyalties and hints of betrayal, that I can’t wait to see where it’s all going…
Privileged to be a part of

I'll be in Granada this weekend with

Finished Imposter Syndrome by

this weekend. If you were one of those that found the new Ripley too slow then this is for you. And if you didn't find the new Ripley too slow, this is still one for you. A stonker of a book coming in July from
@TransworldBooks
Nice thread from
@Helen_Fields
, discussing voice in fiction, jumping off from her first impressions on Imposter Syndrome. (I’ve warned her it gets worse…)
I started
@josephknox__
's new book last night
#ImposterSyndrome
. Within 3 pages I knew I'd finish the book. I don't always, & I'm brutal about not caring if I don't finish. It got me thinking about how writers need to focus on voice. We talk a lot about characters being likable

A great writer, across music and novels. Rob was the first person to read my early (super bad) version of sirens, and couldn’t have been kinder or more helpful. Manchester folk, do yourself a favour x
Trying the unlikely tactic of telling people when I'm playing. Here goes. Looking forward to being one of the acts(?) opening for
@vinnypeculiar
and band at the Manchester date in May.
Extremely lucky to get my paws on Impostor Syndrome by the insanely talented
@josephknox__
one of the most original writers around. It flies out of the traps with a mesmering Ripley-esque protagonist whose story will have you turning pages deep into the night
@alisonbarrow
Did you know it's virtually impossible to get pain-killers in the jungle? It's because parrots eat-em all.
To avoid more of these, order my book

@Anna_Mazz
After falling for this a few times myself and having to take the girls out for dinner, I’m starting to think there *was* no tiger. It’s all just a sick game.
@pawswithprose
@alisonbarrow
I don't know about mind blowing - there's no mixed media etc in this, it's straight prose (which I realise now is much harder!) - but I definitely prefer it x
@surjitparekh615
@DoubledayUK
@TransworldBooks
@alisonbarrow
Wow, Surjit! I need to write a hell of a lot faster! Thank you so much for reading, for your kind words, and for your support as always. I knew it was hitting netgalley at some point soon, but this is a pleasant surprise going into the weekend 🙏 I hope you have a good’n!x
@SimonBewick
I had no idea this was out there! No one outside
@TransworldBooks
has read yet, inc friends and family. Can’t tell you how much I love to see it. I hope the rest holds up, but thank you for reading, either way, Simon x
So, work is gah/meh & my reading focus is shot, but I had to stay up to find out how this book ended - Impostor Syndrome by
@josephknox__
Who cares I have to be up in 3 hrs? Pacy, addictive & packed with intrigue I needed to finish it! All the 🌟
I can 💤 at work later 🤣😂
@galgani64
@SteveGone58
@punk_magazine
Thank you! It’s been a while — I’m looking forward to getting back out there. I’ll be stopping by Deansgate again in July I hope, alongside a few other spots (tbc). This book’s my stab at a private eye novel, in a weird way. Bit of Ripley thrown in for good measure…
TEN DAYS TO SELL THE REST!
Because of the woman below, my mortgage repayments have gone through the roof. Help me pay it (and feed my kids) by ordering my new book here:

@robertcrais
Thank you! It's my stab at what I've always wanted to do - a kind of private eye novel. Looking forward to my next fix of Cole and Pike. Coming this year?
@EloisaClegg
I swear to God it’s better than what you read all that time ago! Wish I’d got there sooner — hope you like it, and that things are great, Eloisa x
@lawrenceosborne
Still remember reading this in proof. Had a nice floppy cover, like an American pb. Seemed to just fall open every time I looked at it. I’ve read and loved mostly everything, but On Java Road took me right back there. This is great news. There’s ghosts x
